Coulter & Company

We were very disappointed as we were told the job would take 7-10 days to compete from start to finish.  38 days later they finally finished.  It was a very long and messy 38 days.

We are new to the area so we looked for contractors on Angie's List to do a remodel of a house we purchased in Terrell. We were not yet living there so we had to do everything remotely and relied on Angie's list as a starting place. We chose Coulter & Company since they are in Terrell and because of their A rating and we could not be happier with our choice! We also met the owner, Danny and either he or Matt went out to the house daily to check on progress and give us updates.
We worked mainly with Matt and he met with us immediately at the house to see what we wanted done and to put together an estimate. He spent about 45 minutes taking measurements after we did the walk-through and we had the estimate w/in 2 days. Of course we had to scale down what we were able to do financially but the estimate was VERY thorough and detailed so it was easy for us to pick and choose what items we could remove and not do immediately. We went back and forth several times and Matt was very good about making recommendations to help save money. I also like that we received a budget for the materials and could pick out exactly what we wanted from whatever supplier we wanted (Home Depot, etc.).
Based on the final contract, he told us how much time he estimated it would take and they finished almost exactly on time..the only reason they were a few days late was due to carpet arriving late.
We were very impressed with their professionalism and responsiveness and Matt kept us in the loop on the status since we were not there to see the progress every day. He would also send us pictures when different projects were completed.
Since they were the general contractor, all we had to do was pick out the colors and tile, etc. and they did all the work. We would go there 1-2/week to check on things and all of the contractors they hired for each job were also very professional and did a great job. We wanted some custom finishing (distressing) on the cabinets and Matt worked with the painter to get exactly what we wanted after I sent him some pictures I found online.
As far as cost, they were not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. The quality was worth the extra cost. They also removed all waste and cleaned up completely after they were done.
We would HIGHLY recommend Coulter & Company and would definitely use them again!

This is an exceptionally professional and competent operation. I would highly recommend Coulter and Company for any remodel/rehab jobs. Carlos Mendoza was in charge of the project for my home. I first telephoned him in July to get an estimate. He returned my phone call in 30 minutes and was at my house within two hours. This was on a Friday afternoon and by Monday morning he had emailed me a detailed schematic of the work along with an itemized estimate for the job. He was by far the most detailed, professional contractor that I interviewed. Once we agree on date for the project to begin, I had to move out of the house. Carlos kept in touch with me through email and telephone calls. In fact, he is the first contractor who has ever telephoned me with updates in a timely manner. Coulter and Company did an extensive amount of work and not only did they do a great job, but they also finished the home three weeks early! I had been living with a relative so this was incredibly nice to get to move back in the home three weeks earlier than expected. I cannot say enough good things about this company and especially, Carlos Mendoza. They are considerate, competent, and always professional. You would get value for your dollar. I am completely satisfied with their work and it is by far the most positive experience I have ever had with a contractor.
