Owner of company very hard to work with. Demanded cash (no checks) and was not prepared to provided a receipt. Demanded all payment before service provided (plus 50% to just book). Promised wireless mic for event, but did not provide it. Music was OK, but personal touch. A teenager with a boom box could have done as well.

The facts are as follows. I was booked less than 60 days before the wedding. All communication about pricing, music, timelines were done with the Bride, not her father. At the time of the contract signing, all parties were informed that checks were not accepted due to bounced checks from previous clients. The opportunity to not sign the contract if the No Checks Accepted Policy was not to their liking was available. 90% of my customers pay with credit card through their bridal planner on my website. You can see this is a legitimate, professional business. The fee was $700, the deposit asked for was $300, not 50% as stated. Most other wedding vendors require 50% upfront and the balance paid 15-30 days before wedding date. This is the nature of the business side of weddings. No one ever gets paid on the day of the wedding although I allow it as long as I get paid in cash or credit, which the father of the bride had a problem with at the initial contract signing and on the day of the wedding. In over 13 years of being a wedding DJ and over 300 Weddings, I have never ever been subjected to the demeaning words and insulting behavior from a Father of the Bride or any client for that matter. With a smile on his face, as he is handing me the balance, he proceeds to tell me " I don't know how you have stayed in business for so long, I really don't understand how you do business." The most rude comments and insults came over the phone 30 min before I was to meet his daughter and his soon to be son-in-law 2 days before the wedding to finalize timelines and music selections. Father of the bride proceeds to let me know that he is not sure I will show up to DJ the wedding if he pays me before hand. He insinuates that I might skip town with ALL THE MONEY! $400 balance? I explain that will not happen, after all, everything is under contract. I am a professional DJ. This is a legitimate business. He would not hear any of it. I had no words as I had never ever been spoken to that way. Being the Legitimate Professional DJ business that I am, 30 minutes later, I meet with his daughter and soon to be son-in-law. My normal wedding goes for over $1300 due to all the add ons and because brides really want their weddings to be all they can be. This wedding cut everything out and just went with the bare minimum, which I am sure a teenager with a boombox could not have been able to handle anyway. Wireless mics were never noted in the contract, because they were never asked for. As for as his receipt, I was prepared to give him a receipt written on the same contract we signed so there would be no misunderstanding, which is exactly what he got for his receipt. Owner of the Company Hard to work with? After all that, I still meet with the Bride and Groom, arrive to the reception site and am ready to go well before the start time and fullfill my end of the contract. All that with out knowing if I am going to get paid. You be the judge. I have built up a reputable Wedding Business that provides Photography and DJ service for Brides that wish their wedding reception to be all it can be. This is something I take pride in and take care of. This negative review was uncalled for and honestly, not a true reflection of my services or an accurate account of the circumstances.
