Road Rash Customs was to powder coat my 1959 Cavalier 72 Coke machine. It was agreed that all body work would be done to the machine and all rust would be removed and replaced with new sheet metal. I was told that the machine would be done in 2 weeks. After 3 months I received the machine back and it was horrible. There was dust imbedded in the clear coat, no body work was done to the metal. On the inside tub the powder fell out of 3 of the corners because there was dirt built up that  was not removed during or after sandblasting. When the white was applied it turned to an off yellow in different large areas. On the side of the machine it looks as if the red was applied with a spray can. You can see the stroke marks, I thought powder coating blended together. I brought this up to the owner (who is the person who did the work) and they told me it was just dust from the delivery, I could not get it to wipe off. This machine is suppose to be worth 3 to 5,000 after restoration. Now the machine is worth 1400. I asked for my money back and was given the run around. I put a stop payment on the check only because of all the excuses I was being told why I couldn't meet them to get my money back until it was fixed properly. I was told they would try and fix it, but to me if you cant get it right the first time then how you going to do it better the next. If it would of been a couple scratches or some other little defect then I can see, that stuff happens. But when you cant even prep before painting properly to where 4 inch chunks of dirt falls from 3 corners and removes the coating, that is unacceptable. I am part to blame cause I have not had the time to disassemble the machine for them to pick it up. Now they want to file charges. But I feel when you promise a service then you should follow through with it. They asked me to just pay $300 and call it good, which I am just paying and will find a professional powder coater to paint my coke box.
