Boats

We dropped off our boat on September 7, 2018 to have Marine Outlet resell our boat. It was looked at by sales staff and determined that it was in good condition and a contract sale price was set ($10,500) pending mechanical review. Mechanics would review and let us know of any issues within 24 hours. The boat was listed on their website indicating "very clean" within a few days of being dropped off. Prior to dropping the boat off we had it checked out by another boat business for the mechanical part of the boat. We also had another marine business check out the structure and body of the boat. We knew the condition of the boat was excellent when we dropped it off. After almost 2 weeks after dropping the boat off we received a message that we or someone had wrecked the boat and that it would cost approximately $4000 to repair. Since we knew the condition of the boat we thought this was a scam to get additional money so we decided to go pick the boat up and sell it a different way. When we went to pick it up it was obvious that it had been wrecked and wasn't even in a condition to sell. The owner asked if we had insurance on the boat. When we picked the boat up we took it back to our mechanic and he affirmed that the boat was not in that condition when he went through it. The ethics of this business is highly questionable. I called Marine Outlet to speak to the owner, Rick Smith. Jackie took my name and number and told me he was with customers and so it would be a while. Rick called and stated his name and that he understood I wanted to talk to him about damage I thought had been done to our boat at his facility. I had told no one and no one asked why I was calling.
