Phone Service - Cellular
I went in to the Temple, Texas store to obtain Boost Mobile's $50 per month unlimited talk, text and data plan. I spoke with Louis C., the area manager for the Temple, Texas and Killeen, Texas stores. As I asked about plans and phones we immediately left the $50 plan and went to the $55 plan, then to the highest priced plan, $60 per month. It seems $50 per month is reserved for the crack-head customers, but people like me have to pay either $55 or $60 per month.
I bought a new Blackberry phone and asked before the sale to make sure I was going to have adequate cell phone coverage when I got home with it. Louis C. double checked the map and assured me I would have 3G service where I lived.
I took the phone home and had 1X service instead of 3G. I called right back, pretty mad, and Louis C. told me that he didn't draw
the map. No kidding. I should have cut my losses and gone somewhere else right then.
Six days later my new phone developed a display problem. I took it back to the Temple, Texas store, with my receipt, to take advantage of their 14 day return policy. My intent was to swap my phone for another one just like it. I was told that was impossible
because I did not have the box the phone came in. I explained that I did not need the manual, or the charger, or the box, just a new handset. They could put my phone back in the box and return it for replacement. I just needed a new handset. Not a chance, without the box I was told. Ridiculous.
I called Boost Mobile customer service and was told if I used my one-year Blackberry warranty, I would receive a factory
refurbished phone to replace my six-day-old new phone. When I objected to paying a new price for a used phone, the representative said she would call the Temple, Texas store and arrange for my phone's return there. She came back on the line and said everything would be fixed by the 5:00pm store closing, and all I had to do was call them and go to the store before closing. I called the Temple, Texas store a few minutes later and was told that Louis C. refused to replace my phone.
Apparently lying to his own company customer service doesn't bother Louis C. a bit. It's no wonder he would lie to me.
My advice:
Avoid the Temple, Texas and Killeen, Texas Boost Mobile stores managed by Louis C. He doesn't care about a new customer and I doubt he cares much about existing customers either. The management pool must have been very shallow on the day he was hired.
