We initially hired Mr. Alvarez to paint the ceilings of our home. He charged my grandmother and mother-in-law $2400 for taping and prepping of the whole house. He did none of that. We have paint speckles in every room on every surface. The tiles are uneven and the grout is cracking. The electrical work was not done properly. The breaker box was supposed to be switched out to a larger one and that was never done. I now only have one bathroom with one outlet that works. He replaced my dining room fan. It was originally wired to two switches; one for the light and one for the fan. It now only has one switch and a hole where the other switch used to be. Mr. Alvarez and his team never finished the work. I contacted him on numerous occasions to arrange a time for him and his team to come finish the work. He always had an excuse and eventually stopped responding to my text messages and phone calls. We are seeking a refund for the work that was not completed and done incorrectly. All contracts were written as lump-sum contracts. It is illegal to charge a sales tax on lump-sum contracts and Mr. Alvarez charged us a sales tax on two separate contracts. I have included 10 pictures because that is all I am allowed to upload. I have hundreds of pictures documenting the work that was done at the house.

I hired Mr. Alvarez June 18th, 2016 to extend a patio, stain
and add a fire pit to my backyard. He was enthusiastic and ready to get started
right away, that week. The first issue I had was that the frame for the slab
did not extend all the way under my faucet as we had discussed and indicated on
the paperwork. When I asked him about it he said it was because my sprinkler
pump was under the faucet. I let it go, but later after some research this
statement was a lie. My sprinkler water pump was way on the other side of the
yard.  He just did not want to redo the
frame work. The next process was to have the slab poured. There were 10 delays
due to his excuses that went from... waiting on the concrete people to
come/confirm, to telling me the wrong day, to him having to go out of town, and
a few others. I finally sent him a text that I was done we needed to part ways
and I wanted a full refund. However, only after that text was sent to him was
my slab poured. The slab looked great no complaints there, but I later notice
that  he or a member of his crew pulled
off the metal top on my water hose so now nothing can be connected to it.  Now was to have the patio stained. I was
promised several times I would be provided color samples to look at, but I
never saw or received them.  Then again for this process, appointments
were made by him where he failed to show up or canceled, and at times without
notification unless I reached out to him asking where he was. It seemed as
though I was always the one to have contact him as to why he was not at the
scheduled appointment. He is not always very good at responding to phone calls
or text. What should have been a project that was completed in a few weeks has
turned into 2 months and nowhere near completion. This has been a very
irritating process. After the most recent appointment that Mr. Alvarez failed
to show up to without letting me know.  I
sent him a text firing him and letting him know I wanted a partial refund. He
did not reply to my text or phone call. I informed him in another text and an
attempted phone call I would be filing a claim with small claims court and
reporting him to the BBB, if we did not have a resolution by an indicated date
and time. A few days later I came home to a note and a check of ¼ of the amount
of money I asked for. So my advice is do not hire this person he is very
unorganized, unreliable, has a lot of excuses, does not communicate well and
makes promises he doesn?t follow through on.
