I guess this is simply a case of "you get what you pay for". As an allowance item in our home build, we shopped around for cabinet and found some really well made, beautifully finished units - but for a price. The display cabinets we were shown at the Burrows showroom looked fine - no dovetail joints or solid wood boxes in the ones we saw but we thought that was OK given the cost. They otherwise seemed pretty well made. But the biggest problems were because we made the mistake of opting for inset doors and drawers (flush with the frame) for most of the cabinets, not realizing that the precision that these have to be built to far exceeded Burrows rapid production capabilities. We worked for weeks on getting them to fix all the unequal gaps, crooked drawer and loose hinges - it's better but still not how I'd like it so we've resigned to just live with them. They have one service guy who knows what he's doing, is courteous and thorough (as much as he can be given what he's working with) - and then there's the other guy who is not. Also, don't expect long lasting quality here. These are basic cabinets made to look somewhat "up market" with a pretty good finish. But the hinges are already coming loose, being pretty poorly secured into soft wood with very short self tapping screws. The drawer runners are very inexpensive and pretty tight to operate, with plastic (stapled) ties to hold them in place (no smooth Blum glides here!) so I expect to have to replace them in some areas in the next year or so. Anyway, if you're looking for affordable, traditional overlay cabinets, that will last a few years, then Burrows is probably not a bad choice. But if you're looking for anything approaching a furniture look, you should go elsewhere (but expect to pay somewhat more for it).
Description of Work: Design, build and install all cabinets in a new construction custom home. Also performed extensive 'punch out' work before and after closing.
