John Werner is a delight to work with, easy to get in contact with, responds quickly to messages and email. High quality workmanship- excellent painting, and refinished floors are gorgeous. The tile work is beautiful and the custom kitchen cabinets surpass all others that I have seen (and I have worked in the interior design business for 15 years). The house was built in 1950, so there were many challenges beyond flood damage. John stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park. We could not be more pleased with the results.

Bottom line - Werner Construction is unquestionably the most professional contracting service we've ever used. We had received three bids and John's bid left nothing to chance or question. The details and specifications were clearly stated which is absolutely essential in a job with so many moving parts. Johns demolition crew did an exceptional job in keeping things clean and incredibly organized and were very professional. In fact all of his subcontractors did an exceptional job - very neat, clean and organized. However, the greatest selling point for us was that John checked in on the job site every single day....Every. Single. Day. For me, that was absolutely crucial and to be clear, is not something to be assumed with every contractor (and probably even most contractors). Moreover, if there was a question, he was readily available. We had hired an interior designer prior to meeting with John. Although she hadn't met John prior to our job, they worked very well together and she was very complimentary of his workmanship and his choice of materials and methods. Given that remodel projects can be stressful and not to mention costly, it would be foolish to cut corners and risk so much by using a "Chuck in a truck". Do it right the first time and hire a proven contractor.

This was our first remodelling experience.  We had heard all the horror stories from people and were a bit nervous about what was to come.  John met us at our house and wrote down all the work/changes that we wanted to make.  He provided a quote within the week.  It was a little bit higher than the two other quotes we had secured, but still reasonable, so we decided to go with John based on prior Angie's list reviews.
Our existing kitchen was small, tight and not efficient or functional.  A major objective was to open things up and build the "dream kitchen".  John provided the name of an architect to help with the plans.  We worked out a schedule with John based on his workload and subcontractor availability and the time required to secure all the supplies.  The major long lead equipment items were the cabinets, kitchen door and picture window.  John's major schedule driver was his floor sub-contractor.
  
Once the work began, the time estimated to complete the project was 8 weeks. The work began with the demolition of the existing kitchen.  An existing picture window and sliding door were removed and replaced with a kitchen door and much larger picture window to bring in more natural light.   A wall was removed between the family room and kitchen to provide a more open design and give some additional space.  Recessed lighting was installed as the original kitchen lighting was not bright enough.  New Italian porcelain tile floors were installed in the kitchen, family room, dining room, den, utility room and bathroom. The flooring change was major in that leveling was required and each room initially had a different floor type (wood, tile and carpet).  New wood cabinetry (including a 4' X 8.5' center island) was then installed.  The granite subcontractor then installed a quartzite surface that we had picked out along with a new sink.  The final work was the installation of professional appliances and backsplash.
Everything went much better than expected.  As in most projects, we had some surprises and changes along the way, but John was very agreeable and reasonable on costs and very pleasant to work with.  He pretty much did whatever we asked for.  He came by the house daily to check on progress and answer our questions.  His subcontractors are very good, professional, and polite.  His carpenter was particularly skillful.  Everyone made an effort to keep us functional throughout the project (isolating the rest of the house from dirt and dust as best as possible, coordinating times for water and power shut-off, etc.).
We are very satisfied and happy with our new kitchen.  We can highly recommend John Werner and his team.  We will call on him for our future needs.

Werner Company has done a number of painting and remodeling projects for our family for over 30 years. They are always reliable, honest, and trustworthy. They do great work, always keep the job-site clean, and the finished product is beautiful. Very professional job, with attention to detail. Considerate of our needs and enjoyable to work with.

Our project was large; separate vanities, separate tub and shower, separate toilet room. We had lots of tile installed, floor and walls, including specialty tiles behind vanities and free standing tub. John and his team were kind and professional. All the people who tracked in and out of our house over the course of the summer were respectful and polite. We made a few small changes along the way, and they were accepted matter-of-factly. The only delay was due to a manufacturer's error, and John followed through in reporting it to them. Our vision was perhaps not mainstream, but John's attention to details made it become a beautiful reality for us. Mr. Werner was very professional and responsive to all our concerns from the initial contact and throughout
the entire renovation process.  All workers who entered our home were conscientious and maintained a professional demeanor. Despite the extensive work and the fact that we live in a gated community with markedly limited parking space, the whole renovation process went smoothly.  We were very pleased with the quality of the work, professionalism of the entire crew and with the final result.

All aspects of the work were of high quality and completed on schedule.

The contractor was on site on a daily basis; generally, he had subcontractors correct issues before I even recognized there were problems.

The only deviations from the original quotation were due to the cost of my choices relative to the contracted allowances and the inevitable surprises found behind the walls during the remodel process (however, even those were clearly explained and reasonable options were provided).

I plan to use Werner again for all future remodeling services.

Extremely pleased with the entire project from start to finish. John was very responsive throughout the process and visited the job site every day. His original proposal was thorough, explained the process and what we could expect in dealing with Werner Remodeling, so there were no surprises. The quality of the work was excellent, and all of the contractors used were courteous, clean, and professional.
I gave Werner Remodeling all A's except for price, which I graded a B because Werner Remodeling was not the least expensive bid received. However, based on my initial evaluation of the bidders, selected Werner because I felt he would be the least risk and best overall value. I am happy to report that my initial assessment was correct as I feel like I got  value for my investment and a gorgeous bathroom.
I would not hesitate to use Werner Remodeling again and would recommend them for those looking for a good value, not just a cheap price.

We had four contractors, all from Angie's List, come to give us bids on renovating two upstairs bathrooms. Only John Werner was confident in installing glass bricks in a small window, and in putting in a frameless glass shower enclosure on a bathtub. Everyone else was so negative! They all said it couldn't be done. Well, John did it. And everything else we wanted. His guys were professional, prompt, friendly, and very good at what they do. John talked over everything we wanted to do, made suggestions, and gave us a fair price. We actually thought it was a little high at first, but when we saw the caliber of work and the beautiful bathrooms, we felt the price to be very fair. In the middle of renovating, we mentioned to John that the bedroom attached to one of the bathrooms needed a new floor. Of course John could do that! He had me go see his guy and pick out the flooring, and had that floor done in a flash. And beautifully. We left the cabinets in the bathrooms, but re-did the sinks and granite. We had sink-to-ceiling mirrors put in, with sconces in the mirrors. We had new Toto toilets installed, new tile on the floors, ugly wallpaper removed and walls painted. One bathroom had an old tub removed, a new tub installed, and an all glass frameless shower enclosure installed with the tub. The other bathroom had an old shower re-tiled...completely re-done. The Werner Company is now our go-to company for renovations. I can't say enough good things about John and his group of workers. John checked on progress often (maybe every day), and often sat and chatted about how things were going, and what needed to be done next. I should also note that at the time all this was being done, my mother, who has dementia, was living with us. John was so nice about my mom, and tried not to upset her in any way. I am embarrassed to have taken so long to write this review. I think it's important that people know what a first-class outfit the Werner Company is, and what a first-class product he delivers.

John Werner was absolutely amazing from day one. He took the time and went over everything with us, and he was very professional throughout the entire process. He kept his promises and came over to the site every day to check everything out. He took my vision of a dream bathroom and made it a reality!! I could not have asked for a better experience working with a contractor. He knew that we had been burned by another contractor and did everything he could to make us feel comfortable. The work was impeccable, and the pictures speak for themselves. Everyone that has seen my bathroom wants to move into my house! I have people trying to make appointments at "my spa!" No worries here, only excellent people and excellent work! We will definitely be having them back to work on the rest of our house!

John was quick to provide us a quote to begin with. Throughout the project he was very responsive and tried to address all our concerns. He has great work ethics and was very honest. We are very happy with the quality of the work and the final product. Overall, we had a great experience with him and will definitely recommend him. We will not hesitate to give John a call with future remodeling projects.

I never worried about a thing. John did all of that for me. His employees are trustworthy, no nonsense and reliable. I have another job that requires the Werner company now...years later and after know that our property will be treated with the same quality now as our home was way back when.

They did drywall work for me. The employee that did the work did a fantastic job. He did this work on a whole wall. It looked brand new after he finished.

We started our search by looking on Angie's List. We spoke with two contractors prior to meeting with John. John had great reviews and we felt the most comfortable with him and we couldn't be happier with the results! 
Initial Meetings:
We met with John a few times prior to demo. In these meetings we discussed our likes/dislikes about the bathroom, the location of the tub, shower and vanities and what we had hoped to gain from the remodel. 
Demo:
We needed a complete bathroom remodel, which included demoing a very outdated jacuzzi tub, dungeonish shower, ugly vanity and removing previously painted wallpaper. The demo went very well and we felt very comfortable with Carmen doing most of the demo. 
Remodel:
The remodel process went as smoothly as we could imagine. The only holdup we had was due to delays in fixtures/tub and tile, all of which we ordered ourselves. John was available to answer questions/concerns throughout every step; we definitely valued his opinion throughout the process. We met with both the engineer and John to discuss the now glass enclosed shower to ensure all parties were on the same page when it came time for construction. We met with both John and Lee (the tiler) to discuss the tile we chose, location of that tile, size of the tile and overall layout. Lee did a great job and was very detail oriented. We discussed the vanity with John and the cabinet maker at length, as we wanted a taller than average vanity, he listened to our wants and the vanity was installed without problem. 
Finished Product: 
We love our bathroom and would definitely use Werner Company Remodeling again! We also wish Carmen a speedy recovery!
Note: We've had two questions since the remodel was finished (water temperature question and glass wall question). Both of these concerns were addressed immediately (within 2 days). 

John was very helpful and knowledgeable in selecting the paint colors, was diligent in checking the work-in-progress, responsive to questions and inquiries, provided services in accordance with the statement of work, and finished the work on schedule. Carmen did an excellent job of painting; the clean up was done without incident.  
As a testament to the services of Werner Company, this is the second time I have contracted with Werner Company.  I recommend Werner Company and his contractors; they are professional and do good work.

As a professional interior desinger, I have the opportuniity to work with many contactors and sub-contracctors in the commercial healthcare setting. After a very expensive mistake in selecting a residentail contractor using minimal research on my part in 2009, a 2010 renovaion resulted in poor installation methods and product failure. I was blessed to find Werner Company Remodeling Contractors on Angie's list, using the rating system of this web site.
 John Werner presented himself as the most proffessional compared to the other candidates amd he delivers in the most professiomal manner.  His interest in my project was genuine by virtue of his actions.  He took on my current challendges with a rigorous, investigative attitude in finding the best solution, the best sub-contractors and products.  I was impressed with his patience in getting to the root of the previous renovation failure.
Most importly, a contractor's reputation is only as good as his sub-contractors. the specific trades such as plumbing, tile installers, and wood flooring specialists, etc. that one brings to the table.  Mr. Werner not only brings the most knowledgeable to the table, but the most experienced.  Many of the sub-contractors have  worked with Mr. Werner for over 15 years.  This speaks volumes.  It is without hesitation that I recommend Werner Company Remodeling Contractors for your residential property.  This man is golden.

It went very well, under difficult circumstances for the contractor. One of his crew of two had to withdraw from the job due to an illness in the family.  One day into the job, the second painter had severe car issues. 
The contractor was completely open about both problems and the delays that would occur. However, he rented a vehicle for the second painter so the work proceeded with just a one day delay. I think that Mr. Werner really stepped up to the plate on this one. 
The work was completed to my satisfaction.Almost no splatter, and very clean cut lines between the wall and ceiling. It was later than scheduled by almost a week, but since the contractor had been honest with me I was able to adjust my move-in plans.
Mr. Werner is a general contractor. I have a number of other jobs to be done and I will definitely ask him for an estimate. I don't necessarily need the very lowest price, but I need the work to be done competently, and I need honesty and quality oversight. I think Mr. Werner has provided that.. 

John Werner is a pleasure to deal with.  From beginning to end everything was layed out, well coordinated with sub-contractors and the finished product was actually more beautiful than we envisioned.  The purchase policy is a bit confusing with "allowances" capped and there is no item-by-item reconciliation of the actual cost of these items vs. the capped "allowance".  I found this a bit of a nuisiance and John was non-responsive to my requests for a full reconciliation.  To his defense, I'm really picky about such details and I probably drove him up the wall with multiple requests.  Also, the estimated completion date was delayed 2 weeks which was a bit of an inconvenience.  Reasons given were understandable, but the delay was disconcerting as we were displaced from the master bedroom during the entire time.  Regardless, the final result was spectacular.

This contractor, John Werner, and his team did a fantastic job for me on a large general contracting job.
I'm a senior citizen who was quite fearful of the process of managing such a large job to prepare my home for sale.
John and team took the fear completely out of the process for me from start to finish!.  While I used John before on a Bathroom remodel, this job was really broad and complicated (for many reasons).
Werner and his team did a great job for me AGAIN.  This job was a large general construction/remodel
and repairs job.  I needed to have sheetrock repairs done throughout the home after a foundation repair, full
house painting, exterior painting, and several other repairs to bathrooms and
kitchen areas.  I was fearful that the job would chase away any contractor?. 
But John was patient through the estimating process, contracting process, and ultimately did a great job. 
I will use John again and will recommend him to anyone after having now two large jobs done so well.
1.       John was there for me every day and whenever I needed him to answer questions, resolve
my concerns, and to make sure we were happy with the outcome.  His bid was fair for us both(see below though
on how he took care of ?surprises? and  things here and there to be complete and make sure the job was well done)
2.      John took the fear out of doing this.  As a senior citizen who had a requirement to this which was beyond my comfort level, this team acted as an advocate in getting the job done, done right, and done in a timely manner.
3.      John?s crew and Carmen, his crew leader, were super competent, friendly, and respectful. 
They helped me out several times when they really did not have to.  They were always on-time, and cleaned up at
the end of each day.    They were trustworthy and any reader should understand how valuable that is.  I could come and go and never worry about what was happening in my home.
4.      John and his team NEVER nickeled and dimed me, in fact, they went well beyond what I expected in doing things just to be complete, even though it cost HIM.    On any big job, you usually find surprises or things here and there that were not contractually
specified.  John always took care of those things without hassling me for change orders. 
When one really big surprise came up that really needed a revision to the work order, he was so fair!!!.  I was so relieved. 
5.      This team went above and beyond in several ways.  I can?t really explain it all, but trust me?this was a challenging situation and circumstance which John handled extremely well.
6.      It seems too good to be true to actually find a contractor that is so honest and does such good work which I did not have to
worry about.
