They wanted to substitute 2x12's instead of engineered beams. They were also going to concrete the posts directly in the ground instead of pouring the concrete column supports. I finally explained to them that I wanted everything to be built and inspected per the plans. I came home the next day, and they had already poured one column support without inspection. It was located in the wrong place, the rebar was not installed correctly and had no mesh installed per the plan. I told them I wanted my money back, minus the materials. I received a check and trying to find another contractor...

Both times were horrific. He continuously went and got materials without consulting my mom. He purchased roofing material that was light gray when she wanted black. She?s now having problems shingles coming up and isn't satisfied. For the in-home repairs he also bought whatever he wanted. He made aesthetic decisions against my mom?s wishes and wouldn?t consider what she wanted. If he didn?t have the necessary tools for the work, he would go into her garage and she witnessed him putting the tools in his truck. He broke items in the home and made excuses, but did not fix the damage. He also had to remove the custom cabinetry in the kitchen to do some wall work. He left large nails in the cabinets and didn?t put things back together correctly. He was really rude and we feel that he took her money. He charged about $4000 for the in-home work and $5000 for the roof. I constantly had to step in on my mother's behalf to correct his actions. He did not put in materials that our inspector suggested and we don?t feel that the materials he did use we were worth the money that he charged. He pocketed a lot. We will not use him again in the future.
