Houston Honey Do is a professional home repair and home maintenance service that emphasizes honesty & integrity; craftsmanship; communication; professionalism; and creativity in every aspect of our operations. If your primary focus and concern as a consumer is cost, and not the value derived from the services received in relation to what you paid, then ours is not the business for you. We are a skilled labor service who aims to work with like minded individuals who realize that rarely do the terms "low cost" and "highly skilled" go together. We aim to perform as much of your list as possible--punch lists to purchases--with only one phone call. Admittedly, we aren't trying to be everything to everyone and thus if there is a task we do not perform, we will simply tell you. We operate primarily within and around the Inner-West 610 Loop, Memorial area, and around Sugar Land. All work is performed by myself or my helper; we do not outsource jobs. Payment is expected at the time of completion, preferably by check. A deposit may be required depending upon size and scope of job. If you understand that great value and great service embody much more than just cost, give us a call.

He was very knowledgeable and professional. Cost was rather high: $100. for first hour and $70. Per hour thereafter. It really adds up after a few days, but I was happy with his work.

All the work Darren has done for us has been of the highest quality.
We originally hired him after our contractor on our outdoor kitchen completed the job but not to our satisfaction. Darren came in and was able to fix several installations that had been done incorrectly, plus paint and seal the entire structure. Since that time he has fixed gutters that have been damaged/knocked off due to boys playing basketball in the driveway and missing the basket and strengthening the structure to withstand further punishment. His work in our guest bath was outstanding and very quickly done. The installation of the outdoor TV was similarly well done.
However, the work he did on constructing yard art for my wife has been nothing short of spectacular. The quality of work displayed on the pieces and attention to detail can not be commended enough.
I highly recommend Darren for any job big or small that you may need done; he has never disappointed and is always a great pleasure to work with.

I have known Darren for several years , during which time he has completed many jobs for me (2009-2014). I have always been extremely satisfied with his work. He can pretty much do it all. He is always very professional and yet personable, kind, and very easy to get along with. He has great work ethic and takes pride in doing a job well. He is very creative and is thoughtful about his work, giving helpful input or feedback when appropriate. He always cleans up any mess associated with his work. I would highly recommend him for any Handyman work you need!

The quality of his work has been attested to by its endurance over time. The platform remains in great shape despite approximately three years of routine use, including heavy deadlifts. Darren was great, did very quality work, especially on the wood rot which was extensive. Only complaint is that price seemed quite high to me at $58/hr, but without knowing the going rate for handymen, I can't speak to it relative to anyone else.

He sent an old man to do my roof. The old man had an issue or something and came through my ceiling. I had to argue with him to get him to repair it in like new condition. I had him do a lot of little things around the house and most things were not done without a little bit of a glitch. I would just be very, very cautious with what I asked him to do. The roof vent covers look terrible and my roof leaks now. The garden hose wheel does not turn properly. After they left I checked the door that they were supposed to have fixed the wall behind and all they had done was fill the hole with some white drippy goo. They hadn't painted it or anything. It looks worse than it did before. I had to read him the riot act. He said he would fix the drywall in the ceiling and I told him that they needed to paint and texture it. He just didn't want to take responsibility for something that was clearly their fault. He had gone out to lunch and brought a drink back with him and set it on a very expensive piece of furniture.

Darrell showed up on time. He was very honest. There was one thing that he could not do and he told me he could not do it, so it is not done. While he was installing the switch to the water heater, it took him a whole lot more time than he thought it would take him. He was not able to do it the first time so he came back and did it. Even though it took longer, he redid it without charging for the first time when he didn't do it. It took longer than I thought it would take, but I am not sure if that is normal or not. Usually I do it myself but I just didn't have time this time. He had to come back to redo the job. I am satisfied, but I am surprised he couldn't do the job the first time. He was very responsive. The first time he came he was feeling sick. If I was still in the area, I would use him again.

Excellent. Set up appointment on phone for 2 days later. Arrived exactly when he said he would, described what he would do and did that. I required some light fixtures to be replaced with new ones and minor plumbing jobs.

I had a toilet whose inner mechanisms were worn out. The water kept running inside the tank. I called Houston Honey Do and Darren was able to come out the next day. He arrived promptly and examined the problems. He then explained to me very clearly what options I had for repairing them. I decided to have him totally replace the innards of the toilet tank. He then took out the old mechanisms and took them with him to make sure the replacements he purchased would fit. Within an hour he was back and the new mechanisms were installed and the toilet has worked beautifully ever since. While he was there, I had him take a look at a shower faucet that was getting difficult to turn off. After examining both the hot and cold faucets he said he would not want to attempt repairing the problem faucet because it was a style he had never seen before. I greatly appreciated his honesty! I would recommend Darren at Houston Honey Do as a good handyman.

It went extremely well. He showed up exactly when he said he would, worked two hours which was what I had estimated it would take (and it took the full two hours). He was personable, professional, knew exactly what he was doing like he'd put together dozens of pre-fab cabinets before. I was very, very pleased. And I have a list of projects I'll be calling him to do for me in the future. I highly recommend Darrell as a handyman.
