This is one of the most frustrating situations I can remember. 2/21/10 Floor Max completed install of a granite counter top. 30 minutes after plumber left we noticed a small crack in the granite. 2/22/10 we notified Floor Max. Floor Max accused us of causing crack by standing on counter, which we flatly denied. 2/24/10 Mack Odat, principal for Floor Max, contacted us saying that he concluded that the crack was not there when the plumber completed installation. 2/26 Mack Odat refused to personally look at crack and accused us of lying because we didn?t notice the crack. Mack Odat stated Floor Max would fix problem by bonding & filling crack ?out of courtesy?, not because it?s Floor Max?s fault. We did not want bonding and filling, but a replacement of the slab. 2/28/10 Mack Odat finally came to look at crack & offered options to fix which were unacceptable to us. 3/4/10 Floor Max now thinks the problem was cabinet was not sufficiently reinforced. Mack Odat told us to hire a certified house inspector to analyze the crack and, if they determined there was insufficient reinforcement, Floor Max would replace the cracked slab. 3/10/10 US Realty Services, a certified house inspection company, examined the crack and corroborated Floor Max?s finding that there was insufficient reinforcement. 3/11/10 we delivered the inspector?s report to Floor Max. 3/12/10 Mack Odat challenged the method used by US Realty Services. 3/16/10 we called Mack Odat saying it?s been 3 weeks and we want the slab replaced. Mack Odat accused us of collusion with house inspector, saying we knew them personally, which we denied. 3/18/10 Out of the blue, Jess, supervisor for installation, came by to look at crack and scheduled slab replacement of damaged slab for 4/6/10. 4/6/10 Jess said they could not get material and canceled installation. Someone had slab material that matched our granite reserved until 4/16/10. 4/19/10 we called Jess to get status of material that was on hold until 4/16/10. Jess said she would call back in 10 minutes. No call back until 4/21/10. 4/21/10 Jess said they got slab this morning and she would check her schedule. 5/18/10 Jess said customer picked up material. A new bundle was to arrive in 6-8 weeks. 6/10/10 We went to Floor Max office asking about status. Mack Odat said he thought matter had been taken care of. 6/14/10 Jess called us and said she would continue looking for material. 6/18/10 Mack Odat called us saying they are doing everything they can to fix it. 6/22/10 we met Jess and went to several granite yards and no matches. Jess said she doubted that a match could be found. 7/12/10 we met Mack Odat and said since there was no matching material, we wanted entire kitchen counter replaced. Mack Odat said it wasn?t fair to Floor Max and refused. 7/21/10 we talked to a lawyer to find out our options. As of 8/10/10 outcome is still pending. In summary, Mack Odat called us liars, threatened us with a lawsuit for harassment, accused us of collusion, was verbally confrontational, thought the matter had been taken care of, and was extremely difficult to work with. This is one of the worst companies we have ever dealt with and I would not, under any circumstances, recommend them.
Description of Work: Please note that this company is now called "Remodeling Max". When the work was done for us, the company name was "Floor Max". Installed granite counter tops and tile back splash in kitchen including tear out, decking, sink and cook top fabrication, plumbing and disposal of material. This was a complete turn-key installation by Floor Max.
