I have had several (2) recent repairs performed by AAA Maytag and was happy with the service, thus far... So I contacted them to repair my refrigerator.
The technician arrived and diagnosed the problem quickly, I placed a deposit for the spare part and was told I would be contacted when the part arrived to schedule the remaining repair work. After several weeks my wife called to check on the status of the part and they sent a technician out to install the replacement fan. The technician arrived and asked us to boil water to de-ice the coil and we started unloading the refrigerator. The technician did not appear to have familiarity with my refrigerator and was not careful. When trying to remove the fan assembly the technician nearly bent the shelf bracket as it is screwed in to the back of the refrigerator. Next he used a screw driver to try and pry the fan assembly off and punched a hole in the back of the refrigerator. When I asked him about the hole he said it was nothing and not to worry. The technician continued to struggle with how to remove the fan assembly, but finally removed the fan assembly. The technician stated we needed to de-ice the coil, so he sat a pan of boiling water on a plastic shelf causing it to warp, when asked he said it was like that from things sitting on it, the shelf has vegetable bins over it and have never had anything placed on them. I paid the technician for the repairs via check once completed and he left.
The next morning I received a knock on my door asking if I had given the technician payment, I checked my check book and saw the check had been written and removed from the check book, I informed the technician of this, showed the check receipt, and checked my kitchen for the check but did not find it. About 30 minutes after the technician left my neighbor brings over the check that the tech lost the night before, the check has dirt crushed into it, stains, and perforations from being stepped on. I called AAA Maytag and let them know what had happened and mentioned the damage to my refrigerator and asked them to fix it, I was told it would be as good as new. The tech arrived and had an attitude from the start and wanted to repair the hole in my refrigerator with some bathroom caulk, I declined and said they needed to repair it properly. The tech then complained and asked me why I had complained to his supervisor about the damage. I explained the damage was caused by him it needed to be repaired the technician became belligerent, I stated the technician needed to leave and I walked him outside, once outside the tech made a comment, which I didn't hear and then again accused me of the withholding the check.
