We contacted Texas Custom Patios to build an outdoor kitchen and patio based on their good reviews. We had an initial meeting with Rob Douglas and set up a follow up meeting to discuss his plans. After he did not show for the meeting, I texted him asking if he was still coming, but did not get a response. I contacted the office the following day and was told he would get back to me in 24 hours. It has now been 4 days, and I have still not heard from Rob or someone at the office. I understand things come up, but the lack of communication is unprofessional.

Person from the company contacted me regarding a quote to cover my existing patio. The female employee told me that my mod was to small and since they could not do my flat work they don’t want to to build my patio.

This company's professionalism and workmanship was excellent. The only negative was the total time it took them to do the job because they are so busy and they had to shuffle their work crews around. They also would sometimes commit to show up on at a certain time on a certain day and then not call and not show. Other times they would show up a day or two later than scheduled and sometimes they would show up unannounced. I would not hesitate to use these people again because their workmanship is excellent and they back their warranty 100%, but I would put a committed completion date in the contract including financial penalties if they did not make that committed date.

We are so thrilled with our new outdoor living space. Texas Custom Patios was an absolute pleasure to work with! Jeremy was patient, knowledgeable, and willing to work within our budget. He made recommendations and suggestions all along the way to help us get exactly what we wanted. Every worker who came to our house was hard-working and respectful. I appreciate that so much. We could not be happier with the final product! Thank you TCP for making it such a painless, enjoyable process!

We met Rob at a home and garden show in February 2016. We liked him and photos of his company's work on display, so we contacted him for a bid to build a covered deck and patio. (I wanted a deck, and my husband wanted a patio so we compromised and got both!) Our daughter was getting married in July, and we wanted it done in time for wedding-related parties. Rob visited us and had a design ready about two weeks after our first meeting. We loved what he designed and went with it. We couldn't be happier! Rob was easy to work with and very responsive to our requests and timelines. The deck is made of a composite which won't rot and it looks great. The travertine tile on the patio is gorgeous and well laid. His crew worked efficiently, and he even met with our landscaper to coordinate some issues. The work is beautiful and functional and was even completed ahead of schedule! All of our wedding visitors loved it as well as our neighbors. Everyone has commented about how it looks like it was built with the house, which is 20 years old. The only thing wrong with the whole process is that we drug our feet and didn't do this years ago! We spend a part of each day on the deck now, even in hot weather, because it is covered and has ceiling fans. We highly recommend Rob and TCP! He and his crew are professional and do beautiful work!

My husband and I had Texas Custom Patios design and build our patio/pergola with grill and fire pit, this past spring. Dean worked with us to design a space that was a perfect fit for our backyard, completing the project within the estimated time frame and budget. The area is just beautiful, and exceeded our expectations, and really adds to the value of our home. We highly recommend Texas Custom Patios for their workmanship, professionalism, and quality product(s).

We do not recommend Texas Custom Patios for the following reasons: 1. We scheduled an appointment with them to get an estimate for a patio and a pool, and they never showed up. To make matters worse they didn't let us know that they would be a no-show. 2. After they missed our appointment, we called Texas Custom Patios because we were concerned that something may have happened to their representative. The woman that answered the phone apologized and said that she would have someone contact us. We still haven't heard from them.

Our experience with Texas Custom Patio was exceptional.  From our initial meeting, Ryan was completely receptive to what we wanted to do with our outdoor space and guided us through the process.  Once we settled on our specific wants, Ryan took that information and designed the space.  We had a follow up meeting in a week (as promised) and it became clear that TCP’s attention to detail was steps above the competition.  Once we decided to hire TCP, the project went quickly.  They took care of the HOA approval and inspections.  As the project went along, small things that we noticed (such as gaps in the masonry) would be fixed before we even mentioned it.  The entire team, from the manager, the carpenters, electricians, plumbers, masons, was professional and it shows in the final product.  We are extremely happy with the outcome and would gladly recommend this company to any friends, relatives or neighbors.  They are the only company we’ll call on for our outdoor projects.

We found Texas Custom Patios (TCP) after being underwhelmed by other bidders.
We met with our project manager Ryan, who provided us with detailed drawings and specifications, that incorporated all of our wishes. He worked with us to ensure that his design elements encompassed our vision for an outdoor living space.
All of the permitting and approvals were handled by TCP. Each phase of the project was explained and implemented as expected. All of the contractors were respectful, kind and courteous.
Ryan was always available and stayed in touch. We were in communication via phone calls, personal visits. emails and text. When we needed a change, he made sure it happened to our satisfaction.
TCP was able to provide us with a beautiful addition to our home while remaing within budget.
We will, without reservation, recommend Texas Custom Patios to our friends and neighbors.
We love our new patio.
Thank you.

We had a great experience. They were great. Steven Schell is the co-owner and the guy who came out and that we dealt with. It was great. He did a great job. They are the best. It was a big job and they were wonderful. Their workmanship is beautiful and they stand behind the product. We had one problem with the roof. It was leaking and they redid the entire roof. They were very responsive and they were good. I like them a lot. I was not unhappy with the price for what they did. I thought the price was fair.

They were great. Their price was within the range I was looking for, and other people could find it to be higher.  They took our design and brought it to life. They were very professional, and did a good quality job. I am not worried about it falling apart.

Seemed to go fine-at the time. He was easy to get hold of -at first. Patio LOOKS great! However, doorway they installed still isn't alarmed properly or hung properly and their solution was to bang the heck out of the hinges with a hammer. Did that once then promised further repair but never happened and stopped returning calls. We had the wiring done for a hot tub to be installed later-we thought. Now we find out it isn't even up to code. We will have to tear out if we really want the hot tub.

Came out and gave me a quote for 35k for a 245 sq ft patio cover, and a 35 sq ft counter for outdoor kitchen. They may (better) do a good job for that price. I could not justify the cost at that price. I did get the same thing built for less than 16k, granted I had to put in the leg work to get the appliances, grill/burner/sink etc, and the tile for the cabinets and some of the other odds and ends fans/light fixtures etc. To save almost 20 thousand dollars...Well Worth It!

scheduled an appointment with us which he cancelled the night before. My husband requested he phone him the next day to reschedule since he didn't have his work calendar in front of him and appointments are only made during normal work hours. We were never contacted again. So disappointing.

Overall this was a positive experience. Texas Patio did a complete project: plans, permits, HOA approvals, windstorm engineering. Except that the shingles on the new portion are new, the porche and roofing look like it was part of the original construction. We had asked for a beam to hang swing on and when we saw exactly what we had asked for and realized that wasn't exactly what we wanted, the minor redesign went forward with no impact to the price or schedule.

I was really impressed initially with the computer graphics they developed to give me a true feel for how the project completed might look, that same level of detail played out throughout the build process since many things changed as this project grew. I was able to work both directly with Rob and the contractors who actually did the work (although many times a little Spanish knowledge help). I am a graphic designer so I presented my own drawings many time on the look of the fireplace and layout of the kitchen which Rob took into his renderings of the project. At times the project seemed to slow some due to weather, some due to material needs but overall I was pleased with the flow. The project took a bit longer than what was projected but to be fair we did decide mid-way through to add an entire kitchen. The roof work was fairly extensive so much so they needed to tear into our existing roof to make the patio feel like it was a part of the home.
Rob keep the pricing fair even with all the additions and the outcome was amazing, although Texas Custom Patios may have not been the cheapest but the level of customer experience and level of quality was certain worth it. We have added value to the house and a true outdoor living living area we enjoy daily. As for my experience with Rob and Texas Custom Patios I would certainly recommend them to anyone that is looking for their service.

While initally very helpful and professional, they later cancelled our proposal appointment and then never returned any future calls or e-mails. After leaving numerous messages and giving every opportunity we are moving on to a different company. If they can't return calls during the proposal stage, I can only imagine what it would be like under contract.

Working with Texas Custom Patios was one of the best contractor experiences I've ever had. From start to finish, this company was prompt, responsive and professional. Mark Hooser was the architect/designer assigned to our project, and I really can't say enough good things about him! He did an excellent job in helping us arrive at a patio design that met our needs and our budget.
Originally, my husband and I thought we'd like an expansive wood or composite deck with an attached pergola to replace our ridiculously small 6' x 6' concrete and quot;patio.and quot; When Mark met with us for the first time in January and assessed our backyard, he gave us a reality check about the cost of such a project, as well as the maintenance that would be required in our humid Houston climate. After agreeing that we would not be the best at keeping up with a wood deck, my husband and I decided that perhaps we could just go with a 400 sq. ft. concrete patio with an attached pergola - an element we were and quot;marriedand quot; to because we really wanted to put up a hammock.
After taking lots of pictures and additional measurements, Mark went back to the drawing board and worked up a patio design featuring an Alumawood pergola attached to the house. But as he kept our budget in mind, it became clear that, to get most of what we wanted, we'd need to make a few sacrifices. Mark then suggested that to get the most bang for our buck - and to add significant value to our home - we may want to build a smaller, covered patio tied into the structure of the house and accented with custom touches. So, back to the drawing board he went.
Mark's second design was the winner: a 200 sq. ft. covered patio built to look like it was an original part of our home, featuring partially brick-wrapped columns, a lovely stained beadboard ceiling with fan (purchased by us, installed by TCP), and a stamped and stained concrete floor that easily passes for natural flagstone.
Each crew that came in to complete their part of the project was prompt (even early at times), courteous and professional. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure we were happy with their work. They did quality construction and seemed to take pride in their craft. It was obvious that they had good working relationships with Mark and Texas Custom Patios. Whenever we needed touching up of paint or stain, they were responsive.
The thing I was most happy with is that Mark was at our home on the first day of construction and regularly checked in either by phone or personal visit throughout the three-week project. In prior experiences, I always hated that after a sale was made, it seemed the salesperson would suddenly disappear once the actual project got under way. Mark not only made sure he educated us to help us get to the right design for our money (complete with color, computer-generated blueprints), but he also stood behind his project every step of the way.
About a week or so after our patio was finished, we realized one of the sprinkler pipes under the patio slab started leaking. I emailed Mark to let him know about the problem, and the main office immediately got back to me so they could cut us a check for the repair. (We had our own irrigation guy do the repair.) This response made us even more confident that any issues that might come up under our included warranty with Texas Custom Patios would be readily addressed.
While the nearly $15,000 price tag may seem hefty to some, we felt this was more than fair considering the higher bids we had gotten for a deck and the level of customization we received on our patio. One thing to consider is to plan your project in the slower months (December-February). By doing this we not only beat the spring-fever rush, but we also received a pre-season discount of 5 percent.
Thanks to Mark Hooser and Texas Custom Patios, we finally have a beautiful, functional outdoor space that we can enjoy for many years to come.
