Peter came out, measured the pool and provided an estimate which included a generous Angie's List discount. He was prepared to schedule within a day or so but, I explained that we were about to have the deck around the pool resurfaced. Because they have to place anchors in the deck, we agreed that I would call to schedule when the resurface was done. I called and the cover was done in a couple of days.

Basil was our estimator.  He was prompt, courteous & made sure we totally understood the process.  When he first came by my husband was not home so Basil went to another clients house and then returned so he could explain to my husband what he purposed to do.   Within about a week the leaf guard was installed.  It is an attractive product and works great at keeping out the tons of leaves that fall.  We have removed it now for the spring and removal was easy.  I had initially contacted two other companies and both expressed concern of being able to fit a cover on our pool with all of the rock and water features.  This was not a problem for Gulfstream Covers.  Gulfstream was also about half the cost of the other two companies.   I would definitely recommend this company.

Well, sad to say this turned out very bad.   I saw the good reviews here, and was happy to do business with him because of these Angie's list reviews, but this been a very bad deal.
Peter, the owner, came out to talk about the deal.  I told him that my dog was getting old and could not swim, so I wanted a pool safety net to prevent that possibility.   He said that the pool net and the leaf cover were the same price, and the cover would do everything I wanted regarding safety plus it would prevent leaves and such.  Sounded great to me and I signed the deal.  he said it would be installed a fews days later, and indeed it was.  he was perfectly punctual.
When I got home to see the result I was fine with it, except that there were two large, and rather unsightly floats in the middle of the pool suspending the net above the water.   Well, I assumed these were temporary.  There was nothing in the directions regarding these floats.  I called and asked about them, and he said that I could take them out if I wished.  I tried that, but the cover sags down into the water, which is horribly unsightly.  Either way the cover was unsightly, but this was only a vague problem, I probably could have gotten use to the floats had that been the only problem.   I replaced the floats, but it still sags into the water.  I called him again and complained, saying that in fact I could pull t taught by hand, and had no need of the little tool he gave me to pull it taught.  he said that he would come out and tighten it up, but then never showed up.  I called again and he was rather rude, saying that I was the only person who has ever complained.
   Anyway - the larger issue is that the leaf cover does not do what a net would do!!   A ten pound item will sag the cover down into the water deep enough to drowned it if it were, say, a baby, or a tiny dog.  In no way is this a safety item.  In NO WAY is this designed for safety, and it is an unsightly mess.  if he does not come and get it, I will simply throw it in the trash, and write off my 1400$ attempt at solving my problem.  He sold me the wrong product.
  I called him once me, and I offered to cover 200$ in expenses, but that I wanted the rest of my money back.  He hung up on me.  I am thus writing this note here, and I am lodging a complaint with the BBB, if in fact he is a member of the BBB as his website says.  If he is not a member, then I will edit this review.   I would not deal with this company again.  He simply does not back up his work when he makes an error.   I own a small company too, and when I make a mistake I own up to it, and I make it right.  This man's choice was to be very unprofessional and hang up on me.  very sad, and very unprofessional.

Gulf Stream Pools was very responsive and easy to deal with.  We live in the San Antonio area and they are based in the Houston area, so we were able to submit measurements and pictures of our pool to get the net made, and they only had to make one trip out to install it.  They were quick to respond by email and phone and could not have been easier to deal with.  The net worked perfectly and is the best solution for us.  The net completely protects our 3-year-old from the pool, but disappears into the background and is not an eyesore like a safety fence.  It is a little bit of a hassle to take on and off, but that's nothing compared to the peace of mind we have with the pool covered.  This is a great product and a great company, and an attractive, cost-effective alternative to a pool fence.  It is also nice that when our kids are older, we can remove it and there will be little evidence it was ever there.  The "hooks" are recessed into the stone around our pool, and completely unobtrusive.  So glad we found Gulf Stream Pools!

Basil was great to work with.  I could not have been more pleased with how this transaction went.  He was very professional when he came out to measure the pool and was careful to make sure I understood how it would be installed and where they would have to install anchors.  He spent plenty of time makein sure I understood how it would work and pointed out areas that he would have to pay special attention to.  He provided me with a quote and answered a few more questions.
On the day of the installation, they showed up as promised and got right to work.  I was quite surprised at how much effort went into building the custom leaf cover.  They did a great job and spent time explaining how it needed to be cared for and how to install and remove it. 
This is a first class organization and I highly recommend using them.

He has been a pleasure to work with. This is a great company who stands behind their work and has gone above and beyond for us and friends many times. The cover works great we have had it for 2 years now. Don't think twice they are the best!

Came out measured pool this is a custom product so it took awhile to get the cover back however it has been great. We have over 100 oak trees on our property so it has been very easy to open the pool come spring.

They were really good. They had an excellent pool cover. They came when they said they would come, and did things on time. It was a good experience, and the employees who came out were fine.

GOT COMPANY NAME AND INFO OFF ANGIES LIST. HIRED THEM BECAUSE OF CUSTOMER FEEDBACK. COULD HAVE SAVED $250 BY USING ANOTHER SUPPLIER BUT GLAD I DIDNT. EXCELLANT QUALITY, ON TIME INSTALLATION

We worked with Basil from the Dallas office.  Basil was responsive and helpful.  He took special care to make sure we understood how the safety net worked.

They were prompt in coming out to quote the job - next day. Once scheduled (week or so later), the first installation was done, where they drilled and installed the deck anchors, and then custom built the safety cover on site and installed it that day. They rough-cut the leaf cover, and took it for sewing the web edging and installing the grommets to anchor it.  For some reason, the installer forgot about sending the leaf cover to the factory in Houston for sewing for a week or so, but when we called about it, one of the company owners rushed the job, to make up time, and came out himself that weekend to install it. Overall, very pleased with both the company and the product.

They did a beautiful job with a very difficult pool shape.  My pool is kidney shaped, multilevel with separate spa and waterfall.  I wanted to be able to cover it, yet run it as desired over the winter.  They were able to custom fit to provide a single cover of the entire pool surface including waterfall and spa.  Even the step sides are properly covered so no space is open for leafs to get in.  It looks fantastic and they took great care in drilling the necessary attachment points.

Basil was very prompt to schedule an appointment, come to my house and answer questions about how the pool cover works and the process for measuring and installing it.  He brought samples of the material/colors available and the hardware used to anchor.  He gave me a quote based on measurements done and an approximate timeline for installation.  I also requested references which he provided.  After checking out the references which were positive, I agreed to go forward with the cover.  The hardware installer came as scheduled to drill the holes necessary to anchor the cover.   He was polite and careful as he used a small drill to create the anchor points.  A week or so later,  Basil came to install the cover which required some adjustments.  He explained how to remove the cover to do any maintenance.  So far the cover has done very well, and I am not dreading the leaves this fall!

I am quite satisfied with the product.  It would appear that the sales person is separate form the production facility and, between those two parties are the original fitter and the final installers.  I am not so sure how effective the communications are among the various factions. I had to call the salesman (who I assume has contracts with an number of pool-related product vendors) when the fitter and, later, the installers failed to show up on the expected days.  He called the company owner who called me with apologies each time and the next stage of the service was pretty quickly provided after the phone calls.  I am retired so the no shows were only irritating, not catastrophic.  All in all, as I said, I am pleased with the product and the cost of the product.

My experience with them was good. The cover worked well. The service was prompt. It did not take long to get the installation done. I would use them in the future.

They were really good. When call the guy he is out the next say because I guess it is because of safety when I have a child or dog and they did not want me to wait around. They were very quick, professional and they did a wonderful job. We spent abut $1500 on that work and we would use them again. The guy that came out was very timely and wonderful.
