Foster's Hardwood Floor Service

We even decided to do another room not included in the original bid. The work was extensive and it turned out even better than we had hoped.

Everyone at Foster's was great from beginning to end. The floor looks fantastic and is exactly what we wanted. The inevitable mess associated with sanding, etc was kept to a minimum with the dustless sander and sheeting that was carefully installed and kept in place throughout the process, even over our shutters. John also included a wooden nosing at the top of one of our staircases at no charge - such a nice surprise! I will definitely use them again and would recommend them to my friends.

Removed carpet in all rooms and ceramic tile from entry. John took care to install the Boen Dutch pattern we had picked as floating floor. When I mentioned a concern about the step down to the living room not matching the entry pattern he readily removed and reinstalled to my satisfaction. Very patient and easy to work with. John came back some time later to patch an area in the hallway that had water damage from a leaking water heater. Floors all look great and we are ready to add wood flooring to our den.

We were moving into an early 1900s house in Fort Worth's historic Fairmount neighborhood. The floors were original heartwood pine but were buried under years of bad polishes and, in one room, white latex paint. Foster's responded promptly to our query about sanding and refinishing the floors, coming out to see us within 24 hours of our first contact.
We were leery of using too many chemicals or turning the floor into something glassy and modern and they came back with great alternatives for us. We ended up going with a sanding and applications of tung oil. In a few places, they had to patch the floors and were able to do that in such a way that the and quot;newand quot; sections blend seamlessly with the old -- which isn't easy with 100 year old floors. The total process took about a week. They were able to get the floors smooth and satiny again and even removed all of the white paint. (For a very reasonable extra fee, we were able to get the paint removed on the closed risers of our staircase too, something that they had to work at, but which we really, really appreciated. Our stairs look amazing now!)
We would definitely use Foster's again and have already recommended them to several friends looking to work on their own older homes.

They showed up promptly and professionally. There was an impressive display of at least four company vans, a trailer for their super-duper vaccuum system, a supervisor, and the owner! They carefully screened off all my cabinets and pantry shelves to minimize the after-clean-up. They replaced a couple of boards that had some knot-holes that shouldn't have been used by the original vendors, given that I had paid for and quot;select-gradeand quot; white oak. They quickly sanded through five coats of finish, down to the wood. Filled any cracks that had developed in the five short months the floor had been laid due to our very, very hot summer. Hand-scraped 400 square feet. They carefully matched the original stain. Over the next couple of days they put down the finishing coats, Traffic Bona HD. This is a product that had been carefully researched as being the most durable and the least likely to amber.

They did a beautiful job. HIGHLY recommend.

Mr Foster was very prompt and professional when he gave the estimate. He seemed knowledgeable and his price was lower than others who weren't nearly as professional and prompt. His crew was very concerned about the quality of their work and were easy to deal with.

He was professional in the beginning but lost his patience towards the end and made the problems worse.
