"[Member Name Removed], Thank you for taking time to speak to us over the phone. We are so sorry that we did not meet your expectations on this move or live up to our own standards of excellence. We have completed a thorough investigation of the matter. During the investigation one employee resigned and after the completion of the investigation the primary individual responsible for the problem was let go from our company. We recognized Derrick for his hard work on your move and his efforts to compensate for the shortfalls of his teammate. Derrick continues to be a productive and effective member of our team. If you have any further concerns, please call our office at 281-832-5200 and a manager would be happy to speak with you. Thank you"
1. When I called to hire them the only specific item I made them aware of that would take great care was the Big Green Egg bbq pit. I spoke with Johnathan Dennis who assured me they had a specific process to move these heavy items and it would be taken care of. The process was to show up a day early to crate up the Big Green Egg BBQ pit. They did not show up to do this, as they said would and their policy requires.
On the day of the move, Nov. 21st, 2014, the team leader of the moving team had a specific waiver to sign which he said was required when moving a Big Green Egg WHICH I DID NOT SIGN since they did not bother to crate it up. At any rate, he told me he had moved about 15 of these and not to worry. When moving, two other members of the team dropped it and broke it into many pieces (it is ceramic). See pics.
I made a claim for the cost of the bbq pit at 999.99 on December 3rd, 2014. I did not hear anything from them so I followed up with Stephanie Hagen by email every so often who kept assuring me they would get back to me soon. On January 19th they sent me a check for 120.00 based on .60 cents a pound and if I have any questions to let them know in writing. No regard for them not following their own process, no regard for the waiver not being signed and very poor communication overall.
2. They dropped the wooden 8 foot dining room table directly onto the driveway when one guy tried to move it. It is damaged on the corner as well. I did not bother to include in a damage claim so shame on me but this was a totally avoidable mistake. The team leader looked at his guy and ran out to help him once he noticed he was trying to move it along.
3. I noticed later they ran over a permanent light fixture I had in my lawn. I didn't immediately notice as it was totally submerged in my lawn beneath their tire track. This was also a new home to me and I wasn't familiar with all the lights I have.
"Good morning, [Member Name], Jonathan is no longer with our company and I would like to apologize for the miscommunication that occurred at the time your move was booked. While it is correct that we require certain items to be crated in order to move them, we do not crate items ourselves. As it is not a service that we offer, items need to be crated by a third party. I see that your claim was settled on December 3rd, please contact our Claims Manager, Stephanie, for copies of your settlement claim at 281-419-5200. We give customers 90 days to let us know if something was damaged so that we can make things right. Unfortunately, if all items are not listed on the claim then we have no way of knowing that there were additional damages. Thank you for your time and we will use your feedback to improve our service. Regards, Claudia Ziara"
"Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate your time and comments! Regards, Claudia Two Men and a Truck"
"Dear [member removed name], We appreciate your time in giving us feedback. We are always working to improve our customer service and your feedback is valued. We are sorry that you had a negative experience and apologize if there was any miscommunication on our part. Upon investigating further, our records show that the estimated duration of the move, which you were given prior to the move, was between 3.25 – 5.25 hours. Our records show that the move took a total of 5 hours, which falls within the estimate. We strive to provide quality service and each of our employees goes through numerous hours of training. Unfortunately, accidents do happen and sometimes items are damaged. We understand that this is stressful for our customers and thus we have a process to handle damage claims. As one of our managers was on site, he personally completed the Statement of Claim form, per our company policy and per the state of Texas. Our Claims Manager is handling the claim and has been in contact with you via email. Please continue to work with us as we work diligently to resolve the claim. Regards, Claudia Two Men and a Truck"
I did have a lot of the stuff already thrown out or in the storage area so they had room to move the furniture around. I also had already planned where I wanted things in the new apartment, so they didn't have to fuss any.
I am happy to give them an Excellent rating in everything.
Very professional and competent staff during packing and next day move (with one exception noted in cons)
I wanted to use a smaller company to ensure my belongings got to Memphis when I did. The big truck companies usually pack a truck and either repack your stuff into a bigger over the road moving truck at their warehouse or pack you directly into a huge otr truck and wait to fill it. By law movers have 21 days to get your belongings to destination. I had to start work Monday, could not risk long delay for my belongings.
Two Men & A truck employees move the truck they pack, same personnel who load you unload at destination. My guys departed for Memphis when they left my house. They arrived day after I did.
Dealing with my sales agent was professional and easy. She answered the phone whenever I called even if she had no news about my only issue with this company.
Con: my only gripe with this company is that my sales agent advised during our initial over the phone quote that there may not be enough room for all my stuff in their 26ft truck. She advised an in person visit by another staff member would confirm. Based on this info I started selling some stuff on Craigs List and planned on taking less. Both the gentleman who visited prior to the move and the lead driver on the truck on moving day repeatedly assured me everything would fit.
Long story short it did not. My issue is if we had been told even on moving day everything would not fit my son and I could have rented a U Haul, Ryder, Penske whatever and driven my surplus stuff to Memphis towing one of our vehicles. At 4.00pm when the driver eventually admitted all the stuff would not fit it was late Saturday.
Loading of 2 trucks would have required different load plan however I am sure the moving guys would have helped load both trucks if we had started them in the morning, by late Saturday they were obviously tired and in no mood to wait while we rented a truck and then asked them to help load what was left.
I expressed my concerns, company promised to do better next time and include better planning for this eventuality. I declined to ask for any compensation although I expected a gesture if only $ for the stuff left behind. Got nothing. Would i use them again? If I had to move fast, start work the Monday after the weekend we moved and had a better idea of truck capacity yes. Am I surprised and disappointed aside from a vague promise offering to move my missed belongings in a regular pick up truck 3 months after the move date space permitting that I got nothing yes. I rented my house in Houston a couple of weeks after moving so my stuff was thrown away.
They are a good company, they are honest and fair, my advice just be absolutely sure your stuff will fit in one of their small trucks.
"We sincerely apologize for doubling the payment, we had a miscommunication amongst our team and we feel terrible for the inconvenience. With regards to the arrival time, due to the nature of our business we cannot guarantee arrival times. We do our best to communicate that we have a 2 hour Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) window. I apologize if we failed to verbally communicate this, but we do include that information in our pre-move documentation."
