Very Well, fair price. Great work. I know the techs from repairs over the years. This company has Integrity. Very pleased, and that is hard to say when you have to put out that kind of money.

The Technician's name was Sebastian and he was knowledgeable in his trade and his attitude was "total customer satisfaction" and his performance with getting the repair completed within a timely manner in acceptable and satisfactory condition. There would be no hesitation with me using and/or referring Total Comfort A/C System to my friends, neighbors and real estate clients. Bill Neill

Called larger competitor at first, was told I needed a whole new unit and additional duct work, quoted $7,00-$12,000. Had Jim at Total Comfort A/C come out for a second look. Turns out the issue was minor and require some small adjustments. While he was here, he went the extra mile, helped clean the drain line, inspected the system, and pointed out the vents were backward. We agreed on a price and he got the vents done quickly, without issue. Explained everything very clearly. Total cost - less than $500. Just a good, honest company run by Larry - I couldn't recommend Total Comfort A/C Systems more.

I have used these folks since 2004 when they fixed a problem with my AC that NO ONE ELSE could. The AC in this home was an after thought and not designed at all. These guys came in put the inside unit in the breezeway where it belonged, added a return air duct and changed the duct work for maximum air flow. Dropped my electric bill by 60%. Since then they come twice a year- once for heating once for AC. I have had great performance and only one repair in 14 years and that was a lizard getting across the leads of the starter capacitor. From office/reception to guys that do the field work these guys are awesome! Everyone I send them to is happy. It is all about the professionalism and quality of work.

The compressor went on our 11 year old Amana A/C. I already had a diagnostic done by another company but wanted a second opinion so Larry came out and gave me a price on a new A/C system. He explained that although the coil did not need replacement yet, it would make more economical sense in the long run to replace the entire system now due to its age and it being an R-22 unit. The techs replaced the system and Paul (the license holder) was on hand to oversee the job. It all went well so I hired them again to do a diagnostic on a second system, which needed a drain cleared. Jim came and cleared the drain. I give this company an overall A because of their work ethic and a C on prices because I believe they were fair prices based on the equipment and work done.

Had Total Comfort out a couple years ago to update an ailing AC system.  They gave me a fair estimate based on what I wanted done - identifying cause of the AC running low on freon [leaking evaporator], adding some return vents, replacing plenum, & furnace ?basically replacing everything in the attic  except ductwork.  Outside unit had been replaced previously a few years before I moved into the home; all it needed was a new dryer for the line and a fix to the kinked weld on the copper line the previous installer [NOT Total Comfort] had done.
Larry Dean [Total Comfort] sent out a weekend tech on Saturday responding to my evaporator and condenser freeze-up issue.  Though the tech identified and fixed a sheet of  the manufacturer's insulation that had come unglued inside the furnace  -inhibiting air flow, it wasn't effective in resolving the AC freezing up.
Follow-up by Jim [weekday tech] was FANTASTIC. Though not immediately able to diagnose the issue [due to another red herring], he came up with a working plan and a means to test his theory.  Over the course of 2 weeks, during which the part was ordered, the AC performed pretty well with one hiccup.  The new expansion valve was installed per the manufacturer recommendations using the proper copper fastening band at the proper location [based on tube size] on the suction side of the evaporator and then insulated.  Jim was very courteous throughout the visits; I was very happy with his thoroughness and attention to detail.  We've been enjoying a much cooler home and are expecting lower electric bills again next summer.  Will continue to use Total Comfort.
Thanks guys!

I selected Total Comfort A/C after price shopping a number of other contractors (and equipment other than Trane).   Total A/C prices were very competitive for the high-end Trane equipment that I had selected and they were certified by Trane as a "top tier certified installer"- I spoke to other Trane Certified Comfort Specialist firms as well).   Total Comfort showed up for the installation timely on the agreed installation day and immediately got to work.   One of the owners of the company, Paul Hall, was present for the majority of the installation at all of the key points (installation took about 3/4 of a day for each of the three systems).  Paul is clearly an expert in the AC business (not only on the operational/installation aspects, but he is highly knowledgable regarding the technical aspects of the systems (equipment design and sizing, air flow calculations and temperature control dynamics, and most importantly how to install systems such that the efficiency of the units is actually realized by the homeowner.  I was impressed by the fact that he checked to ensure that not only was the equipment correctly spec'd, but was a perfectionist in checking his crew's set-up, e.g., joint and duct sealing, charging of these sophisticated systems, code compliance (I had a number of items that had to be corrected that were no longer code compliant) and they even did a very good job leveling my old condenser/compressor concrete pad that was installed poorly by original homebuilder.  His crew was obviously very experienced (especially the manager of the crew - who was onsite for the entire time and did much of the specialized work himself, while rest of crew did more of the manual labor).   I spent quite a bit of time up front defining the scope of work and ensuring expectations were fully aligned with Larry Dean (probably a good bit more than most and probably drove them a little bit crazy); however, must say that they fully delivered what they had promised up front.   I know that for the very high end systems I purchased (20 SEER, fully variable communicating systems), their prices were competitive.   Initially, I had priced the more middle of the road equipment with quite a few other installers, but not with Total Comfort A/C, so not sure how competitive on that basis.   I only priced three contractors for this high end equipment and while the high SEER fully variable hardware is expensive, Total A/C was very price competitive on the total job scope.   Only (very minor) nit was that I had to follow-up a couple times on a couple of A/C grills they were going to switch out that they didn't have on the day of the install, but this was about a $20 value on a $30,000 job, so hesistate to even mention and they did fully come through and install the grills afterward.  In summary, I would have no reservations in fully recommending Total Comfort AC - great job!

On Thursday Sept 11 our AC went out. We contacted our landlady and she told us someone would come to fix it the following day. Late Friday afternoon "Jim" from Total Comfort AC Sysytems pulled up in his van. He did a quick 5-10 minute inspection and then said our filters were dirty and because of that the system had frozen up. He said there was nothing he could do because the ice on the system had to melt to fix it. I asked if he was coming back the following day to make the repairs. He said he had something to do with his grandson so he would not be coming back this weekend. On his way out he told us he had 27 years experience, and rambled on about how our dirty filters had caused the AC to quit working. After he left I went to the hardware store and bought new filters. When I pulled the old ones out they were dirty, but I had seen them worse. We turned off the system and waited for the ice to melt. The following day I turned the system on to see if it would cool. The AC didn't blow cold air. We called the landlady who told us that "Jim" said the malfunctioning AC unit was our fault because of our dirty filters. We told her what we had done to try to fix it. She said she would get someone here on Monday. We set up beds in the living room, which fortunately had an AC unit that worked and made the best of our situation.
Monday dragged on and no one showed up. We called our landlady and asked her where the repair people were. She said that "Jim" canceled the appointment. There was no explaination. We spent another night on the the mattresses on the floor.
The following day we waited until noon and no one called to tell us they were coming. We called the landlady and she contacted them. We were told they would be coming in the afternoon and "Jim" would be the person showing up.
"Jim" showed up around 4 pm and we asked him why he cancelled the day before. He blamed his boss and said it was his fault. We asked him why he blamed us for the AC breaking in the first place and he denied saying that. He went to work and in about 15 minutes announced that he was done and that very soon our bedrooms would be cooled off. On the way out he admitted that the AC units didn't work over the weekend because he had turned them off outside. I was glad to see him leave and looked forward to having our whole house cool again.
Hours later the rooms were just as hot as they had been when "Jim" left after "fixing" them. I called the office number around 8 pm and left a message on "Larry's" phone, who I assume is the boss . It's been over and hour and no one has called. Our landlady just told us she talked to "Jim" who said we needed to give it a little more time and it would cool off. It's been 4 hours since he left and there is no air coming out of the vents and our bedrooms are hot.
I have 2 school aged children and my wife is very ill. This company is by far the worst AC company I have ever delt with. They are incompetent, unprofessional, and clearly don't care about the quality of their work. Do yourself a favor and do not call Total Comfort AC Systems. You can do better with anyone else.

It’s been wonderful. He was professional. He gave me good advice on what to use or what to get for the garage. He ordered it and put it in. I haven’t had any issues since the service has been provided.

This was a very positive experience. The owner worked very patiently with us, gave us several options, and once we made our decision, he was very prompt in installing the units. Once installed, the owner spent quite a bit of time with us making sure we knew how to program the units. We experienced a glitch a week later, and the owner called us right back (on a Sunday morning), and gave us a solution which fixed the problem. There was no pressure to hurry our decision. We liked having the different options so we could choose which worked best for us.

Paul Hall is one of the most knowledgeable and trustworthy professionals in the business.  He understands and will teach and explain the intricacies of HVAC design and install to anyone.  It's not just about putting the equipment on the ground.  There are significant aspects of install and duct design that play into the efficiency of the system and making it work.  Paul goes far beyond simply putting the equipment on the ground - he really understand how the system has to be tailored to best perform in your house. We are very pleased with Paul Hall and recommend him to anyone needing HVAC work or maintenance.

We called Total Comfort on a Monday evening and left a message. They responded promptly Tuesday morning and had a service man out here within two hours. He did an excellent job, correcting mistakes made by a previous provider. He was very thorough, checked and rechecked everything he did. Went above board checking out things that were not even related to the original problem. All work is guaranteed. Very polite, very professional. I certainly will use them again and recommend them to friends. The price was very reasonable compared to other companies we have used.

Excellent. Paul is a very comfortable and professional person to talk to. I received five estimates to replace my system. Two were high. One was low. Then Paul and one other installer cam in very close together. Paul was slightly more expensive than the other HVAC company. But the rep from the other company missed our first appointment and was late for the second appointment. Paul gave us a very good presentation on what to expect. He told us the different systems, and suggested that for us a least expensive system was actually the better choice. The install team showed up on time and took great care during the install. Very happy overall.

On a Saturday, i was lucky enough to reach Paul while he was driving.  We chatted for about an hour as he drove, and he explained my options and provided "ball park" estimates.  He explained since he had not seen my system and did not have his price book handy (while driving), the prices were more comparative prices.  (That was fine by me, since at the time i had just begun my research.  In fact i was quite impressed by his breadth and depth of knowledge without the luxury of any books, literature or internet.)     Based on his in depth knowledge and reasonable estimates, i invited him to give me a more formal quote.  Paul and Larry showed up at the appointed time, reviewed the system and provided me the three quotes requested and several more options.  They did not push any option (though their pricing discouraged replacing the King Valve: it was 3X higher than the lowest bid), nor did they push any brand-- they just fully explained my choices and let me decide.  I like that.
I opted for a Trane 13 SEER 4T R22 condenser-only solution.   I choose this option since                 1) The current coil is less than a year old.                  2) Although several Providers offered to flush the existing coil so that the 410a could be used, i was concerned that there might be problems (ie incomplete purge)                         3) the 410a option was almost 50% higher in cost.           4) The old R22 is slightly more efficient.                 5) When reviewing all the bids, this option seemed to be a sweet spot -- where the quotes were most similar-- suggesting less gouging opportunity or a possibility of cut corners.  And there were diminishing returns for higher SEER rated options
And i chose Total Comfort b/c             1) they were one of the few Providers that had/offered an R22 condenser solution.            2) they offered the the best wty coverage for this solution.            3) I felt comfortable with Paul's knowledge -- he did not try to talk down to me, or BS me            4) they did not push any solution or any brand, but were quite willing to listen to my thinking and help me with my logic.            5) their quote was in the middle of those i received for this solution         The installation went as Paul had suggested it would.  Here too the installer did a great job patiently answering all my questions.  (Kudos to him -- sorry i forgot his name.)  He did not try to BS me nor was he afraid of my questions.  This tells me he knew what he was doing.  (great confidence builder).   Once the install was complete i checked the inside ambient air input/output temp deltas: 20 deg.  Definitely better than the 14-15 deg delta i was seeing long before the King Valve failed.  Good to see-- indicated that the install was done correctly.

Paul stopped by toward the completion of the installation to check on things.  It was not needed, but i appreciated it, nonetheless.
I delayed submitting this review for 3 months for a couple reasons.  I wanted to see                1) how Total Comfort would handle any issues that came up.-- None have come up, so I have nothing to report.         2) what the impact on my electric bill would be, by moving from an old (maybe 7-8 SEER, effectively) to a 13 SEER.  kW usage for upstairs AC has been cut about in half.  Granted this is only about $30 a month for these two month, but I expect it to be  twice that for the next 3 months.  This reduction in kW usage is in line with the improved SEER.
