Orthopedics
I have visited this practice, at the Woodlands location, many times during the past year, due to arthritis pain and a torn meniscus. They perform x-ryas in-office, and their MRI facility is across the street, with fast appointment availability. Dr. Keith Johnson is excellent at providing information and treatment options. Even though he is board-certified in surgery, he offered me more conservative options (hyalgan injections) that are currently working well for me. (And Tammy is absolutely amazing at administering knee injections!) The staff is always friendly and professional, and they worked with me when my insurance changed to ensure that my treatment was uninterrupted. Highly recommended!

We are about six weeks into the follow-up/recovery and all has gone very good. I'm very pleased with the entire office - from those in the casting room, x-ray, administration and those on the physical therapy side also. They seem to work very well together even thought there are several different people involved in the appointments. The office staff seem to enjoy working together personally and professionally. That's a big plus to me.

The doctor was very patient and thorough, describing all the different options available to her. She was fitted with a knee brace and received injections. Very pleased.

Broke my collar bone on Friday night.
Xray reviewed on Monday.
Surgery was Thursday.
Pretty darn quick.
Dr Johnson did the surgery and is very pleasant. Great bedside manner.
(Dr Hayes, also in the practice, replaced my rt ACL about 10 yrs earlier.)
It's now almost 6 months later, everything is progressing as expected. Still some numbness -- not a surprise. Fascia still binding up with the muscle over time -- also not a surprise. Good PT takes care of the latter. Time will take care of the former.
Ofc staff very pleasant. Doctors and staff exude confidence, and put their patients (well as least me) at ease.
Wait times in the waiting room is minimal (5-10 min). Other orthopedic practices that I have been to, I can wait for hours before being called back.
Also liked that they will reschedule around my situation -- pretty unusual for a doctor's ofc to work around the patient. On the Monday of the examination I was running behind trying to get some paper work from my ER visit on the Friday of the accident, and I called wanting to reschedule. And they simply said, and quot;Just come on in when you get everything together. We'll be here and we'll get you in. And in spite of that, the wait in the waiting room was the typical 5-10 minutes. (They need that time to pull my records and get a room set up for me.)
Couple of touchy points for me:
1) for my insurance not all the doctors in the practice have the same rating, which impacts my co-pay. Just be sure the PA you see is working for a doctor that day that is covered at the lower co-pay.
2) As with all doctors, they move and talk quickly. If you are an old plodder like me (age 59), you cant think of all the questions and may not fully comprehend what is said or the implications of what is said. As noted things went pretty darn quickly for my broken collar bone, so things were a blur for me. (Pain meds didn't help the situation, I presume.) On the other hand if things went slower, I doubt that anything would be different. (I just might have been better prepared for the plate in my shoulder.) I am NOT suggesting they did anything wrong or even underhanded. On the contrary. They are above board, highly ethical. (And a lot of fun.)
I definitely will be going back there. (Ah, the wonders of getting old.)
1) my daughter had a lateral release done this summer by Dr Johnson.
2) I will be getting shots in my knee there for my arthritis.
BTW -- I also like that I can get copies of my Xrays or video clips of the surgery (as applicable) to show to my friends. Great for Show-and-Tell.
Overall great set of doctors and staff.

He was very aggressive in treating my problem. He listened to what I said and he took action. He was quicker than what I expected and I was really glad.
