When the center diamond of my wife?s wedding ring broke off (it?s her original ring from 23 years ago), we looked for a reputable local jeweler to repair it. Out of curiosity she brought her great-grandmother?s 100-year-old wedding ring to ask if it were possible to move the heirloom diamond into her broken ring instead of just replacing the original stone. We have always been nervous about stone security with the heirloom ring, given its size and age. Shannon was very understanding of our concerns, and showed us how to loop the stone, so we could see the ?birthmarks? and cut style of the diamond, and be able to ensure that the stone was indeed hers from now on. She also helped pick out the proper stone setting that would hold the old diamond in my wife?s ring, but with a lower profile to reduce the chance of the post breaking again. When we picked up the ring (along with a sapphire ring she needed sized) John was very polite and made certain we were happy with their work. The wedding ring looked fantastic (they cleaned both rings making the stones shine brilliantly); the pairing of my wife?s original ring with her great-grandmother?s diamond meant the world to her.
