Plumber from Mr Rooter tried to clean out sewer line after removing the toilet (don't know why she didn't use main clean out line). She first tried with the cable, wasn't able to open the line, then ran a camera down the line. Said she couldn't see anything due to 'the murkiness in the water' (Duh). Charges were $481, ($431 with discount) even tho she had NOT opened the line. She did not say there was any problem with pipes (roots, collapsed). She recommended doing a hydroscrub. Another plumber came out opened the line using the clean out line and charged about half what Mr. Rooter charged. I contacted Mr. Rooter to complain and request a refund. They wouldn't return my calls, I continued to press for 3 weeks finally getting the owner Mr Goertz who said he wouldn't do anything. That's how committed they are to "providing customers with exceptional service" NOT!
Response from Mr. Rooter of Montgomery County
"We are sorry you found our service to be unsatisfactory, as we aim to provide quality solutions. Our technician responded to your tenant's toilet stoppage problem at the duplex. Approval was obtained to cable through the clean out. Our technician was unable to clear the blockage from the clean out, therefore, the other option was to pull the toilet to cable through and then reset the toilet. Approval was obtained to pull the toilet to cable. The sewer line is old with excessive build up and black sludge, which made the camera unusable because you could not see where the stoppage was. It was then recommended to hydroscrub to clean the lines at which time we agreed to credit the $431.22 towards the hydroscrub service. This option was refused at time of service and our technician left the home. Rather than giving us the opportunity to come back out to revisit the stoppage problem, you called another plumbing company, which is why we have elected not to provide a refund. With regards to your comment about no one would return your calls for 3 weeks, that is not the case because I have listened to the phone calls that are all date and time stamped. There was phone call interaction between you and our office on a consistent basis, which you acknowledged in a phone conversation on Friday, July 21st at 11:05am."

The trench was cut good, even replaced sprinkler they broke.  The pvc pipe was put in and trench covered poorly.  Lawn needs much work now. The problem was, when the job was finished, there was about 20 feet of old copper tubing laying on my lawn. I was told from the beginning that the pipe had to be replaced because it was old galvanized pipe and could not be repaired. If it was copper pipe, they should have repaired it and it would have cost a lot less than $1650.00. I feel that I was taken to the cleaners.

The problem was eventually fixed after 3 visits to my home and 3 no shows.  After the first visit a simple shower leak was a horrible hammering noise any time water was used anywhere in the house.  When the same individual came back he told me it was my fault it was not fixed because I told him the house was 3 years old and he put in the wrong part.  He was rude and argumentative with me.  This still did not fix the problem and I had to call again to schedule a repair. This resulted in 2 no shows with calls at the last minute from the office.  After that someone else finally showed up and fixed the problem.

During this whole time I had asked to speak with someone who could address these issues and was told someone would contact me.  They never did, so I contacted the corporate office and again told  Roger Goertz the franchise owner would contact me regarding my experience.  That has still not happened 6 weeks later.
