Concrete Repair, Concrete Driveway Service
$6,175
David and Jennifer McGowen are the owners of CCS construction. ( Later I Learned that they have gone by many different company names) After much persistence I agreed to let them be the ones to complete the job. I was given a bid that stated what they were going to do and we both agreed on it. It took them several days to come out to actually get started on the job. Sunday they came out and broke out a small section on the end then left it uncovered and did not return until Tuesday. Tuesday is when the sub-contractor came. He did a good job and when he was finished I learned that they refused to pay him. Instead of him going to them for his payment he began to hassle me for money I had already paid out. Then once I was finally able to get David and Jennifer back out to finish what the sub-contractor had started I discovered that they were going to need more money because instead of tearing out a section at a time they did the entire drive way and were not able to get the concrete truck to the back of the driveway and were going to have to rent more equipment. After breaking a few water lines, a sprinkler system and causing damage to my water connection to my house, I finally said just complete the driveway. They told me that they had someone here to fix the plumbing; I was going to allow him to do so until i found out that he was a pool repair guy and not a licensed plumber. I finally said that this was not part of the contract and I explained to them once more that I was upset and we needed to get this done as per our agreement. This caused Jennifer (with much profanity) to say she was not going to finish the job and that she was going to pull up what had been done already and take it with her. The men she had hired for that day were not cooperating with her. After some debate and the police were involved she was finally asked to leave the property only taking what belonged to her (tools). This is what happened overall and as you can imagine so many more little things added up to them no longer finishing the job. To this date I still am dealing with the recoil of them not paying of any sub-contracter or supply company they used. They  are requesting me to pay them what David and Jennifer owe. I never meet one of the men who said he did work at my home for 3800.00.Im not sure but but understand have other names that they use Houston Concrete Guy<CCS Concrete--- McGowen is the last name.

"I'm sry. Mcgowen Construction did no work at this address. You must be confused, please understand I will sue you ande your husbands company for libel and defamation. We are a commercial entity, we no longer work residential. So with that said, I seriously advise you to remove your derogatory comment as we have legal representation ready for suit on the above address and the company that's involved with you and your husbands name. Have a great day."

DO NOT USE THIS GUY UNLESS YOU ARE READY FOR A FIGHT IN COURT AS TO WHERE I HAVE BEEN FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS. I hired this company to review his work this is what they had to say: by keytec home development 02/05/2010 I was hired to check this guys work at pella Dr. this was one of the worst job I have seen in a years. used wrong rebar size ( smaller) and pourd only 2 inches as to 4 inches, that's why it cracked in two weeks, throw your money out it is less headache
Response from MCGOWEN CONSTRUCTION
"I owe this person nothing!! It's funny you say it has rebar, LOL It does not have any rebar, LOL Please get your lies up to date. A 2" cap has fiberglass for reinforcement no room for rebar. This goes to show that neither of you know what your talking about. Pics are posted on yahoo for everyone to view. And yes feel free not to pay me and a lien will be placed on your home and court costs will be very high with nothing in return The drain area is the only pic he shows and that is for the spa drain which is going to be covered with a portable spa"

Deck and Porch Service
Yes, I recommend this pro
David was very friendly and seemed very knowledgeable. Came out within hours of call to give bid ($2,000). I did not go with David for a few reasons. He was priced very well, but his bid of $1800 did not include removal of dug out dirt or the removal of a stump. Quoted cost of $400 to remove a stump. Also, did not communicate any concern over the drainage, even though other contractors raised significant concern regarding the drainage in the yard on the design on wanted. Some of the techniques he was going to use for construction seemed a little substandard, ie. use mesh instead of rebar. Ended up going with a contractor from Angie's list. I really liked David, but the fact he did not have feedback on Angie's List and had an unresolved compaint on the BBB caused me to go with a different contractor, who had a positive record with the BBB, was on Angie's List, but was slightly more expensive.
Response from MCGOWEN CONSTRUCTION
"This was a bid only and this person lies about rebar. We only use rebar, My work speaks for itself Sorry that this bidhopper has no life and has too much time complaining about people. If you didnt use me so be it. Great cause I heard he never paid the contractor either"
