Dave's Home Improvements

I had paint color samples from a home improvement store but advised him that we would purchase the paint from Sherwin Williams matching the colors with them. He said "not a problem" he 'would take care of it" He arrived with two workers on the designated day, got them started and left for the day, coming back in the afternoon to look things over. The second day, only one worker showed up and advised that the second worker was an alcoholic and didn't show up for work. The second evening we checked the quality of the work and told Dave (Freeman) we were not at all pleased with the work. Every seam that had been floated out was showing and the walls were splotchy. The third day one painter showed up, floated over existing seams and re-taped over others, plus made numerous attempts with mud to cover "bad" areas. That evening the tape had air bubbles on every redone area. We made eight phone calls to Mr. Freeman, telling him of the poor quality of work and our expectations of him correcting the mess he had left us in. He actually painted the cabinets with water based paint that flaked off at the slightest touch, and felt very tacky. Of course we requested enamel paint for the cabinets. He has never returned one phone call or message, leaving us no choice but to file a claim in Justice Court and to hire another painter to repaint both rooms. He cashed a $1,400 check the day we paid him. We are out the $1400 plus the cost of hiring another painter to correct the mess he left us in. Filed in Justice Court, awaiting a court date in April, 2014. His answer to the Justice Court was that we "added the cabinets after we contracted with him", not explaining why , if so, he purchased the different color paint for the cabinets the day he cashed our check. And he blames the poor quality paint job as being caused by our house walls and cabinets. An aside, the second painter and his crew did an excellent job in correcting the mess Dave Freeman left us in. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN...BUYER BEWARE!
