Several years ago when our children were young and money was tight I brought our Chevy Venture van in for some work.  The van had several issues ranging from a water pump to a Body Control Module (BCM).  The work was going to total over $1,000 which was really going to hurt at that time.  After the work was completed the mechanic had good news to report.  The BCM sometimes needs to be programed which incurs a $250 programing fee due to the expense of operating the equipment.  Fortunately our BCM programed itself avoiding the $250 fee.  Thank you Christian Brothers for being honest and holding yourselves to a higher standard.  Any other automotive shop would have charges us the $250 fee regardless if they programed the BCM or not. Christian Bothers also works with a local church to help single mothers with car issues.  Great owner that cares about the people in his community.  Keep up the great work!  You've got my business.

Provided excellent service, kept me informed thru out the process, and completed job on time. Car was ready and returned clean.
No visible evidence , grease, spilled fluids, etc. that all this work had been done. They have a very Satisfied new customer.

They were very professional. We worked with John. It is a used car and we had to have some expensive parts. They went above and beyond in searching to find used parts for it. In lieu of something costing $1,700, it cost $200. Instead of just saying they couldn't find the parts, they made an effort to find the parts and save us money. They were courteous and clean. They have a service to bring us back to our home. They can be expensive.

We asked for both my headlight bulbs to be replaced and to correct for a strange noise we couldn't identify. When we dropped the car off in the morning, we asked them if they wanted to listen to the noise together so we could figure out the problem together. They refused to spend the time diagnosing the problem with us. They said they would take care of it and call us. So we left.
After calling twice throughout the day for an update, they couldn't give us one for the noise, nor did they call back. We asked twice to be called back and didn't get one.
When we came back at the end of the day about an hour before they were to close, they had only just started the work. They said the belt was the issue and needed to be replaced. We gave assent to replace the belt.
However, after the belt was replaced we immediately noticed that this did NOT take care of the original issue of the noise we wanted taken care of when inspecting the vehicle. It turns out it was a power steering problem.
So it's possible the belt may have needed replacing, but that's not what we came in for to fix. If they had taken the time and called us back to discuss the noises it might not have been a problem. But they didn't
When confronted, they offered to not charge anything at all, but that was only after some arguement. They were embarrassed in our opinion. Their arguments didn't hold much weight both of us knew in my opinion. Their only argument was that we didn't describe the noise properly....however describing sounds is obviously a subjective thing. That's why it was important they take the time to diagnose it together we said, but they wouldn't. However, we said we would pay for the lightbulb replacement because that was correct still, but wouldn't pay for the belt replacement since it wasn't what we came in for.
This was our 3rd experience at this place. Each time there was a problem during or after. We won't be going back.
Overall I have to say that they are Fair to customers....but they charge too much for bad work.

I had a very good experience with them. They communicated exceptionally well and explained exactly what they were doing. The price was also very competitive. It was a major work that they were doing on my car, so, they replaced a few small parts without any charges.

I have been pleased with the service. I have never needed to take my vehicle back for extra repair. They are responsive to me. I will use them again in the future.

We returned the car to CBA 3 times reporting this problem. Each time we were told that they did not detect this problem, but that they thought we needed a complete new engine on the car and that they would be happy to check the clutch more thoroughly when they replaced the engine. The repair was never made and we gave up dealing with CBA. This cost us the loss of the use of our car of course each time we took it in, and more troubling is that the car still has the clutch problem. The engine is still running, though perhaps at some point it will need to be replaced as they suggested to us. We certainly were not interested in replacing the engine at that time. We just wanted the clutch to be working correctly.
Response from Christian Brothers Automotive
"My name is Jeff Toth, I'm the owner of Christian Brothers Automotive, The Woodlands. I have researched this report and have found that this is from a repair preformed in October 2003. At that time I was not the owner of this location but have pulled all documents pertaining to the repair. I must admit I am surprised that this complaint is just now coming to light, after almost 6 years. Our records indicate that our customers clutch was replaced and that there was one return visit almost 3 months later for a "shudder" feeling. At that time it was determined that there was a "knock" in the motor and that there was internal engine damage usually caused by not properly maintaining a vehicle that would require the repair or replacement of the engine. There was not a "shudder" detected after testing the vehicle, the issue was related to the engine knock not the transmission. Again, even though I was not the owner at the time of the repair, I am very sad to see that a negative comment about my business was placed 6 years after the fact and without so much as a phone call to me to give me a chance to re-visit the matter. I and all the employees at Christian Brothers Automotive, The Woodlands, strive to make sure that our customers are completely satisfied with the repair service we perform. If ever a customer is not I want to know so I can personally address it. I hope my reply helps to shed a little more light on this matter, however, if you, the reader, have any questions about this matter PLEASE feel free to call me to discuss it, I would be more than glad to talk to you about it. Furthermore, I look forward to discussing this with ANY and ALL Angies list subscribers who may have a questions. Please visit our web site to learn a little more about our company and our business philosophy, we really do care about our customers and their concerns and want them to be completely satisfied with us. CBA is not the cheapest around, but they provide outstanding quality and service from start to finish. It took all day to perform the work on our Civic, but they provided a rental car to us for FREE. Of course they warranty all their work. They are also recommended by Dave Ramsey.
