They can usually identify a problem before your whole unit goes out.  Today they found a part in my unit that was starting to go and they replaced it.  With that service contract you usually get priority scheduling and it includes a discount on labor if you need a repair.

The A/C in my house went out in June in Houston. Because it was a new construction, and because Capital Air had installed the unit, I had to go through them to fix it. They told me that the parts were covered and that I would only pay for labor. They charged me $79 for an estimate, then told me that it would be $550 to replace the compressor. (They also told me it would be a four-hour job, but in fact it took only a couple of hours.) It took them a while to get it fixed. I had a hard time getting them to keep their appointments. When it was finally fixed, they were supposed to make sure it worked. They did not show up on the day of the appointment, but showed up the next day. These people seem to take it for granted that we can take time off of work whenever it is convenient for them. When the guy finally did show up, he did not bother to talk to me, but just made a quick check of the outside unit. I will avoid working with them in the future.

Price went considerably higher than first quoted. Needed to add a return, then needed to add a thicker copper tube from the condenser. I have a turn off switch in the pan in case of water. They did not seal the drain into the pipe in the wall so my whole roof and floor got wet. They did acknowledge that they should have seal the pipe in the wall. They said it is not customary. I said what is the purpose of a shut off switch. They agreed to paint the ceiling, but I could never get them to come out. So I hired a painter and had my insurance come to fix the floor. They are not an honorable company. I would never use them again.

Capitol Air overall did a good job. They really worked hard to help figure out a solution to one of our bedrooms upstairs constantly being hot. One of the units was low on Freon and added some. The response time after your initial call is slow.

I HAD TO CALL THEM THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY DID EVENTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM.
