"We have installed another system for this customer that has never broke at all. The one mentioned above was struck by lighting, which is an act of God that we have no control over. About the lighting issue: the surge protector on the Elite swing gate protects power surges coming through the power line. The probe that is buried in the ground was struck by a DIRECT lighting strike in the ground burning it completely and no surge protector can protect that. Also, the surge protector always has to be replaced after getting struck because it will shut down the entire unit. That's is how the system was designed by the manufacturer (Chamberlain) to prevent further damage to other components like the circuit board, etc. Customer was notified by phone of the problem, the cause and the cost and authorized the necessary repairs. As for the (substandard) post issue: The post was not set by All Gates and customer assured us that it was properly and sufficiently concrete into the ground. Customer also claimed that this will be a temporarily set up just to keep contractor access restricted during construction of the home and once construction is finished within a year she will concrete her driveway and built a complete new front entry with stone/ brick columns, slide gates, etc. However that never happened. In addition to that, we had a record drought last summer which caused the ground to dry out, crack and shift, and many gate posts have shifted and needed leveling. This was a problem other customers had experienced as well."
