He came out gave me an estimate and time frame to complete the job. He was very professional and did what he said he would do at a reasonable price. He completed the job in a workman like manner with no problems. I would recommend him to all my family and friends.

I had the original sliding glass door to my patio replaced with a French Door two years ago by a Contractor. From the beginning the door did not close smoothly and correctly. The Contractor made several trips to try and fix it using shims but he was unable to do so. He told me the problem was that my foundation was not level. That explanation did not seem right to me because when I used a level to check the foundation it was level. So I finally joined Angies List and found the Door Man. He showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. The door was not affixed properly to the frame. The screws holding it were not long enough to keep the door properly aligned. The Door Man put in the proper screws and secured the the door. He then adjusted the strike plate to match the properly aligned door. After the original contractor had failed twice to fix the door, I was somewhat skeptical of the Door Man's ability to fix the door, so I am extremely pleased with his ability and professionalism.

Dave arrived on time with his helper. Worked steady for the time he was here, allowed me to watch while he worked and even shared DIY tips. Like the work he provides the service is similar. He did general clean up as he went and the area was free from any mess. If you are a neat freak you may have to do a minor once over after he is gone.

Made an appontment to replace the door sweep, which involved removing the door, which was necessary for the type of door sweep involved. The work was done in a timely and professional manner, which would lead me to recomend the business.

He only does wooden doors, which is really hard to find. He is very, very particular. You need to listen to him if you want your doors to be hung right and stay right because he knows what he is talking about. The price was fine in comparison to a big box store but the quality of the doors is much better. He's prompt and he would get back to me. He works very, very fast. It is better to have him and his crew do their job when there are not too many other people around because he needs access to get it done and not have anybody mess with his work. I would hire him again.

David came to give me an estimate before the door was ordered--approx $450. The door took several months to make. When David came back to install, he damaged my tile floor, drilled a hole in my screen door without my permission, and left the work area a mess. He then charged me over $800. When I asked him why the price was so much higher than the bid, he could not give me a clear answer. He then tried to hide the fact that he damaged my irreplacable flooring and lied that he had not done it. He said "at least I hung the door so you can put a rug over it". When he was questioned by the person who had made the door, he admitted to the mistake but said he couldnt (wouldnt) do anything about it.
Response from David The Door Man
"Well I think the rest of the reviews speak more truth. This was A bad day for both of us. ! Yes I bid 450.00 to the customer directly, hang a used door, from in the garage, But It was the wrong swing, would not work. I bid good by and left. This was 1 year before the "hanging". I installed doors for many other builders, companies, and home owners. This project, I was hired by a guy that builds fancy stained glass/windows, his route to sell was a new door, I had hung many for this guy, this was the last. I was to be paid by him 400.00 I got only got 200.00. I am not privy to all the details but the glass guys wife had dental work done in a 3rd. round barter exchange. that I was not part of , or knew of. and I was the one who got hung! O yes there was slight damage to the surface of the stoop in front of the door, right where the mat was that I moved, ( I quit moving the mat and covered them later jobs.) it was not a 200.00 scratch! I did blend and fill in it. I did this job as a favor to the glass guy, all new I was "off work" as we were leaving on vacation early the next day.it all comes back to me, I must learn to say no. Well this may have been the first stiff, and hopefully the last. I am older and wiser now, end, off the box. Angie's list I want to Thank you for the opportunity to air my side and the view I had, I new this house when I rolled up, I did not know I was in A 3 or more way trade. I would like also to spend a word or two, to say thank you, to those who have taken the time to right reviews. thanx, david the doorman"

David gave me an accurate estimate for the work and ordered the door. He ordered a good quality door, that had a composite door frame, to ensure that the new one would never rot out, again. The work was done when promised and in a truly professional manner. David, is a craftsman and was well worth the money spent on the job. I will use him for any future door work.
