"Thank you [Member Name Removed] for the great review!"
The crew was very professional (Journeyman + Apprentice), thorough, timely and neat. Work was done without incident and the work site was cleaned prior to departure. Issues were dealt with quickly and according to code.
I will use this company for all my future electrical projects.
Everything was done according to code and my Mom now has a strong sense of security knowing that the electrical wiring in her humble abode is sound.
"We were asked to upgrade panels in garage due to flooding and high moisture content in the garage and the walls due to a drainage problem. Inspected panels and found the moisture had corroded and deteriorated all the buss bars. All metal components were rusted and did not operate correctly. We quoted upgrading panel and all breakers. At this time there was no mention of other problems throughout the house. Customer had asked only for a quote to upgrade/replace panel. When performing the work, we noticed that there were many code violations with breaker size and wire size. The breakers were very over-rated or too large for the actual wire installed in the house. We installed the correct breaker size to match the existing wire size. This is a very important and a safety issue. Over-sized breakers will not protect the wiring thus leading to overheating or wire shorting out which can lead to fire or other issues. We informed the customer of these code violations and offered to quote a price to correct the under-sized wiring issues. The under-sized wiring was due to customer upgrading to larger A/C units and electrical wiring was never upgraded to match new units’ specifications. Customer elected not to make the required repairs and insisted that we re-install the over-sized breakers back into the new panel. This is a serious NEC code violation and a huge liability on CHC Electric’s part. We can not re-install these breakers and still be in compliance with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. We have returned on several trips to discuss and troubleshoot problems with homeowner. Customer still insists on replacing the over-sized breakers. We will be happy to quote and offer a discount to the customer to replace and upgrade wiring to the A/C units to match the specification ratings of the units. We apologize for this inconvenience to the customer, but safety and health issues are very important to us at CHC Electric."
