Initial quote was for 4 days and $2800 + installation materials (I supplied the tongue and groove planks). Contractor came and looked at the job beforehand, and I provided installation instructions and a video on how the product was installed. I therefore felt the contractor should have a good idea of how long it should take. They started on Tuesday and were supposed to be done on Friday. After 4 days, job was about 2/3 done. Contractor didn't offer to work weekend to finish job, so I did about 15-20% of the work myself that weekend. On Monday morning, contractor tells me they are already $1,000 over on labor. I tell him I'm not paying since I did some of the work myself and he gave me a quote for $2800 labor. He then agreed to the original price for labor and charged about $570 for installation materials.

"The owner asked me to ball-park estimate the job based on info that he sent me on e-mail. I provided him a quote based on that. Owner also provided product that we had not worked with before. When I went to look at the job, the wife was there but the man was not, and she really didn't know much about the job. When we started the job, he instructed us to install the beaded ceiling at right angles to the beams instead of parallel to them, which was going to take more time and we had not initially discussed that type of installation. There were isues with this.. We started and as we got into the project I told him that there was more labor involved. Also, the ceiling was badly out of square with the beams. He refused to pay the extra, so I told him I would do the job for the ball-park bid even though I was going to lose money on the labor. I charged him for some extra materials that were needed since he was providing the basic materials - he said that was fine. Upon completion, I asked him if he was satisfied with the job and he replied that he was. So I don't understand why his wife would later write a bad review of my work. Spectacular work. This is Austin and his crew looks like it, piercings and dreadlocks. However, they are so unfailingly polite and clean that you wouldn't mind taking them to Granny's for afternoon tea. We had an emergency caused by the glass brick people. Mike and his crew dropped everything to come fix the other company's screw-up. The work was faultless in every way.
