I realized after the job was completed that the electrician had mentioned getting a permit from the city yet no one ever mentioned a permit or an inspection. On Monday I called the city and TLC had not acquired a permit. TLC's charge for getting a permit was $300.00 discounted (as they said I am now a VIP customer) to $203.00. At this price I want my permit and inspection. After calling TLC they said they would correct as this was an oversight?? I hope this is not a normal practice. A day or two later I talked to the city again to see if they did acquired a permit and they had. The permit cost them $39.00. See above; they charged me $203.00. When the electrician gave us the quote and mentioned that the permit was $300.00 I was shocked at the price and he told me the city has to get their money. This was not the city getting their money. It was TLC getting the largest amount of this $203.00. Jeff Reynolds the service manager told me this $203.00 included money for registrations, licensing renewals for their electricians (per the internet renewals are $50.00 a year) and insurance. This is not was told to me when presented with the quote. Those items are the cost of doing business. They should be covered in the profit made from the price of the electrical box not separated out of other things once they were caught over charging for a city permit. Also since my power was turned off and the meter was sending Oncor messages that the power was off and Oncor had not been notified. Oncor cam out on Monday and I am now being charged with meter tampering and charges will be added to my electric bill. TLC electric says when the bill comes send us a copy and we will take care of it with Oncor then. I have received a letter from Oncor to the finding of meter tampering and I want TLC to be proactive and resolve this before I receive a bill for this meter tampering. I have definitely lost my confidence in TLC. The work performed by Tim McGinty was very good as far as I could tell. The work passed inspection by the city. Their work is not my problem. It is the way they handle their business.
"Thank you for such kind words!"
