"This is very puzzling. For one this happened over a year ago. Secondly, it was never scheduled. I went to give a bid on a rent house this person owns in which we needed me to touch up and redo work a previous painter had done a terrible job on. I submitted the bid in which he accepted and then he expected me to start on it the very next day. I had a scheduled work load that was 2 weeks out at that time and could not accommodate his desired job start date."
owners not doing routine maintenance. Scope of work to be done was replace the
majority of the fascia, some soffit, caulk &repaint the entire house. I was
told that top of the line products would be used and while the bid was more
than I had planned on spending, I didn't feel like shopping around for other
bids and just wanted the job done so I could move on with the roof replacement.
The crew showed promptly and started to work and while the job took longer than
what I was told, that part wasn't a problem. The problems was with the work
that was done. On their final day, the crew had finished and left before I got
a chance to look at the work. Boards were misaligned, trim was crooked and
calking had gaps in it or was missing all together. Brad did promptly return
with the crew leader and i pointed out the problems which were clearly visible
and a date and time was set up to come back out and finish, however due to rain
and weather, that was pushed back several times. By the time I had arrived home
the day that they did come back to finish, they had already left. I waited a
few days to see if they were coming back out or what and never heard anything. I
email Brad and asked if they were finished and had he done a walk around yet.
He replied "Everything is through only when you say it is. I have not made
a final walk around. I stopped by yesterday and you were not home, the gate was
closed. I will call you tomorrow and set a time this next week to come by and
walk around with you." And that was the last time I heard from him. Six
weeks later I emailed Brad a list of problems, the biggest being that when the
roofers were looking at the house, they noticed that the trim
that Carnival had to replace under the drip rail was not the same size as the
existing trim with the new trim being smaller, thus the new drip rail would not
set flush against the trim. I never heard back from Brad or anyone with
Carnival and could not delay the roof. I knew that the warranty was in place I would just wait
until sprint. As the year progressed, I noticed that the caulk that Carnival used was
cracking & pulling away from the siding, leaving substantial cracks with
the potential of water penetration. There was also some other trim that didn't
match & was smaller than the original trim so their solution was just to
fill in the gaps with caulking. Since the end of the year warranty was close, I
contacted Brad to come out & take a look. I was immediately told that the
cracks in the caulking were more or less normal & the only thing that could
be done was to get the top of the line caulk & redo the job but the problem
wasn't with the work or material used, it was due to the preexisting condition
of the siding when the job was done. I reminded Brad when he bid the job, he
said they would use the top of the line products, & we specifically talked
about the joints in the siding because they were all cracked when the job was
bid. I was then informed that no one in the world would be able to caulk the
siding and make it water proof, and if they did they were lying to me. I asked,
why wasn't that mentioned when he bid on the job? In showing Brad the
significant size difference in some of the trim replaced, he stated that they
had to make do, because apparently they didn't make the size trim that was used
on my house when it was built. Once again, I questioned why that wasn't
mentioned to me when the job was bid. All in all, I feel like I was just sold a
bill of goods and am faced with additional out of pocket expenses due to what I
feel is the incompetence on part of the person in charge. If Carnival didn't
bid top of the line products, then I should have been given the option of
'upgrading'. If the siding was in such bad shape that Carnival can't honor their
warranty, then why bid the job or give the warranty?
"This job was done a year ago, not the date he says. This entire is complaint is ridiculous and inaccurate at best. I came out to address these issues just the other day, a year after the job was done. The first thing [Removed member name] did was accuse us of not painting a soffit board and trim on the back side of the shed. It turns out the boards were replaced by the roofing company which they damaged after our paint job. He then points our caulk that was cracking in between the siding on his carport and shed. this is due to siding that should have been replaced and that I recommended by replaced in the beginning. It swelled due to all the rain and caulk is not designed to expand like that. He did not have the budget to do all that needed to be done so we replace just what was rotting. Our warranty does not cover pre-existing conditions. Mr. [Removed member name]does not understand this now he is bashing our business on Angie's List which is very damaging. SHAME ON YOU [Removed member name]!!!"
We've had problems in the past with painting, so we had them complete a portion of the quoted work to try them out - my son's room. Room needed doors, walls, woodwork painted, some patching - two colors on the walls. They were in and out quickly with no mess on the rugs, etc. Did multiple coats which is important. I didn't know to look for that and we had another company in earlier to do our family room - that company stained my carpet, scratched my fan and did only one coat - and it shows.
Carnival was tidy, quick and professional. The men who came were pleasant and did the job quickly. I will have them back to complete the rest of my first floor as soon as I can.
"This customer has gone through a number of painting companies in the last year. By her own confession she told me she was not happy with the ones hired previous to me and would not want them back in her house. She obviously does not understand the painting process. We actually went above and beyond for her doing things not included on the contract. I have not had crews quite on me and my crews do not take hour in a half lunches. There is no pleasing this customer. PAINTERS BEWARE"
Crew arrived on time, took great care to cover and protect all work areas. They did a very nice job and completed all work within the time specified. I have already recommended them to a relative for painting in their home. I was very satisfied with Carnival.
They were pretty good, and show up on time to do the estimate. They did the work on time, they also did what they were supposed to do.
The color was so perfect that my stager asked if I could get it painted in the connecting living room and to replace the wallpaper in the kitchen. I was a little concerned since there is no break in the wall between the living room and kitchen so the texture on the wall would need to be matched very well going into the kitchen. Brad was able to give me a quote and get me on the schedule within a week. The living room was completed in a day but the kitchen wall texture had to dry overnight so painting resumed for another hour in the morning. Brad came by for a final walk-through and inspection and verified that the trim had been patched and touched up.
I was very pleased with the quality and professionalism with everyone from Carnival!

"This project was completed the first week of June and the customer is just now posting a review? We only performed one touch up once the project was finished and completed everything the customer requested. We have never returned to any house four times. I dealt with Member and had little to no interaction with another person but he has written the review. The faceplates and door knobs were handled exactly as the customer requested. Both I and my crew chief walked this home twice with the owners and they approved and were very happy with all of the work. This house was completely cleaned to the customer's satisfaction and there was no paint on the carpet. After we completed painting his home another person was very happy and asked me to come by and give hime an estimate on painting his office. Why the delayed review after nearly four months?"
