So I live in a house that was built in 1955, so I was built really well. The only problem it has ever had is the foundation. My house sits on a bunch of clay. Whenever the ground is wet, the house moves. Whenever the ground dries up, the house moves. Some months certain doors would close and windows would open, other months not so much. So I looked into foundation leveling. I did a good month of looking into the science of foundation leveling. I basically found out that only 3 options and 2 of those options don't last very long. Superior is the one that offered me the 3rd option. Superior's technique is the only foundation leveling that I found to be sound. So instead of digging bunch of deeps holes around your house and placing concrete pillars under your house, which is stupid cause there is nothing stopping the pillars from shifting when the house shifts, Superior comes in and place these long steel tubes around the house's foundation. I had 18 placed all around my house. The difference is that these steel tubes are hydraulically drilled all the way down to bedrock and have these plates that the foundation then sit on. Bedrock doesn't shift.
So at first the send a rep to your house. He uses this little digital device to take levels form a bunch of different points in your house. This tells them which way your foundation is leaning. After the readings, they determine how many post you need and where they will be placed around the foundation. A week later a whole team of workers show up and start to dig little 2 feet holes where all the post will go. They then start hydraulically pushing these steel tubes all the way down till they hit bedrock. They then proceed to placed the beams under the foundation and level off. The whole process for 18 beams took maybe 4hrs.
Any cracks in the walls that were caused by house shifting were closed back up. Doors and windows that were previously unable to close or open, worked perfectly. I was really satisfied with the results.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Superior Foundation Repair offers a Guarantee for "THE LIFETIME" of the foundation. Not your lifetime, but the foundation's lifetime. Which means that if at anytime you feel the house might have shifted, you call them up and they will come out and check it. If it has they will re-level it, no charge. The guarantee is also transferable, meaning if you plan to sale later on down the road you came transfer it to the new owners. Giving you a little more bargaining power at the sales table.
All in all this service was great. From attitudes, Cost, and time, from start to finish. If you are looking to get your house leveled, this is the way you should go and the people you should use.
In contacting them again, to have them come back out as I have "A lifetime warranty", they are less then responsive. I have to provide all the paperwork to them that they clearly have before they will even talk to me. Thus far they will only email me, they do not call, and apparently will not call. I have never worked with a company that so blatenly will not stand by their warranty. They can see I paid, they can see I had the work done. . so why is this an issue? Most of it was done electronically and yet, I have to provide them with real paperwork, that I do not believe I have.. REALLY . .
And, FYI - THERE IS A RIPP OFF REPORT on this company . . I suggest you all read it . . they may be decent upfront, however they are very suspicious at best when it comes to warranty repairs . . Find a company that stands by their work and their warranty no matter what . . it is NOT SUPERIOR . . seems since Roy left things have really gone down hill . .
BUYER BEWARE . . . you need the company that truly stands by their work, answers their phone and shows-up, IT IS NOT SUPERIOR!

They are pretty good, pretty professional they came in here and cleaned up pretty good behind themselves. They got everything done. So far I have no complaints. I do need to get some adjustment done. I called them back for that and I will let you know how that comes out. As far as their initial work is concerned, it was good and they did a good job. The last time they came was back in November 2012. Since then the house has shifted a little bit, and they gave me a lifetime guarantee. I will have to call them back but I am getting ready to move out of this house, so I want them to empty it first and then get them back after that when the house is empty. (04:21), (04:34). The workmen were on time, they were proficient. They had good supervisors, the men who worked, they were not standing around. They policed up themselves, (04:43), cleaned up everything as best as they could when they left. That part, I did not initially have any problems with them there, its just now I don't know how they are going to react when I call and say I need them to come in and look. Here are some cracks where it shifted on one side of the house. (04:58), they gave it to me in writing. I have no problem with their initial work. Of all the ones I heard they were right in the ball park with price.

On 01-16-14, the crew continued to dig holes, started to add new beams. They finished pouring concrete bases today. The crew began to weld new piers to new bases. 01-17-14, the crew continued to weld piers to bases. The crew started to lift half the house. On 01-18-14, today is Saturday, we didn't expect them. Nice surprise. The crew continued to add new beams in the a.m. In the afternoon, they continued to lift the house. They also welded more piers to base plates
To show our appreciation, we made the crew some menudo for lunch 1-20-14
They continued to lift the house and add new piers to base plates. Added more new beams. They liked lunch!
On 01-21-14, the crew arrived and they continued to bolt angle iron to beams. They cleaned up debris and left early.
0n 01-22-14, one crew member returned to finish cutting off old cedar post from under the house. Job completed.
We were very happy with Superior. We would be happy to refer them to our friends.
We liked the way they kept up with the clean up.
We had 7 quotes total, and felt secure in our choice. We also confirmed that choice prior by other Angie's list reports!
They estimated the job would take two days, and we requested that they do the exterior piers on the first day and the interior ones on the second day, to which Roy agreed. However, when the foreman came in he said that they'd like to get started on moving the furniture and setting up for the work on the inside of the house right away. Roy led me to believe that this prep would only involve our master bedroom, master bath and kitchen area, allowing us sleep overnight in our spare bedroom and leaving us the use of our hall bath. We got home from work that afternoon to find our whole house was a construction zone. They had moved all the furniture in our master bedroom, living room and the kids' bedroom to one side and covered it all with floor to ceiling plastic sheets. They had pulled up the carpet in our hallway and bedrooms leaving carpet nails exposed all over the place. The foreman did explain that the placement of the interior piers was determined by the structural beams of the foundation, and that's why he had to access the foundation through the kids' bedroom as well, which wasn't in the original estimate. There was no way we could sleep in the house since the kids' bedroom was out of commission and there were construction hazards all over the place. We ended up calling hotels in the area and getting a last minute room for the night. The foreman told us that he would definitely recommends telling customers who have interior piers they should not expect to be able to stay in the house - we certainly wish we would have been told that!
They did a lot of work on the second day, placing and welding most of the piers, including all of the interior ones, but they did not finish in two days as initially estimated. We were able to stay in our house the second night since we pulled off the plastic sheet in the living room and moved the couches/tables back into place, leaving us enough room to camp out with the kids. They finished in the afternoon of the third day, but there was no final inspection/review from Roy. The workers did a decent job cleaning up after everything, but they left a few issues behind. There were smudges, stains, chips in the paint and baseboards on the inside of the house. There was a large scortch mark from the welding process on the exterior siding above where one of the piers was placed. The grounding cable and rod were left disconnected which is a fairly big safety hazard. I called Roy to tell him about the issues, and he said he would not be able to get out to the house in the next couple of days to look and suggested I send him some pictures instead, which I did. He had a contractor come out who reconnected the grounding cable and painted over the burn mark in the siding.
We also had an issue getting the final engineer's report and elevations from Roy. He stated when we met up to give him the second half of the payment that he would get them to me that afternoon. A week and a half passed and I had to remind him twice before he finally e-mailed them to me. There was also no separate written warranty document, which I found disappointing in case we sell the house. He said that the initial estimate/contract has a line for that to show a warranty is included, and they don't provide anything else for it. Overall, it was a good experience, our house is level and we're confident it will not shift again because of the steel piers, but there were quite a few little things that if done differently could have made this a great experience.
