I always have a good experience at Lowe?s. It?s very clean and organized. They are a little pricey but they have good customer service and variety. Their service is very good. They are very military-friendly and there is always somebody there that would help me. I can go to their service desk and they take care of me.
The estimate came a couple of days later via a phone call from the contractor for 5100 dollars(for whole house at 964 sq ft) and I thought that was about 1200 dollars high. I went to Lowe's to talk to there rep (Matt) and ask about the other two options we had talked about. He could not find our file. Went into the computer and pulled up our estimate. While it was on screen I started asking about a 800 dollar charge for leveling compound and and 600 for crack filler. Said our floors were not level. Asked how he knew that and he said the contractor puts a level on the floor and determines that. Told him the estimator never used a leveler while he was there. He looked at me funny and responded that's what was reported. I asked him for a print out of the estimate but he had problems with the printer. Once fixed and printing he tried to up sell me on some more expensive flooring. Once the printer had stopped he gave me the original estimate and said it would be a couple of days for the other estimates. We got a call for one other estimate on the two small bedrooms alone for 1600 dollars. Went back to Lowe's and spoke to another gentleman who was more interested in getting me to apply for a Lowe's credit card than anything else.
I left in disgust and felt like I was dealing with some shady used car salesmen. I vowed to myself that I would not contract with Lowe's for anything.
Conclusion: We pulled the carpet, cleaned and etched the concrete and sealed it ourselves. For a few hundred dollars.
Later on that year I had to replace part of my Fence. One of their employees helped me go through each of the Fencing boards to help me pick out the best ones. The fence post were average price, but cant beat the customer service, They even loaded them into my truck
Details: On 5/24, visited Lowe's after some online clothes washer research. Lowe's had our desired model (but nothing in stock) so we placed a special order with Brian in appliances. Brian told us it would take about 2 weeks for order to come in - 10 days at earliest if lucky. Called back store after 10 days to check status, but not in yet. Next business day we received a voice mail/call that our washer special order had been back-ordered for an extra 10 day delay. Called back Lowe's and was connected to LeAnn. We discussed the back order issue and she said she would check other store availability. She called us back and said she found a unit at another store and put us on the delivery schedule for that Thursday (6/09) morning - great!
Thursday morning passed with no pre-delivery phone call. Called Lowe's and spoke to Carla, a delivery manager (?). She had no record of us on the morning delivery schedule, so she contacted LeAnn (who was not in-store that day) and confirmed unit was onsite. Carla then scheduled us for immediate delivery. Lowe's delivered within half-hour after call, installed, and picked up old unit. Everything worked well.
Some of the employees we worked with provided the stock answer of and quot;it has to be special ordered and no other stores have it inand quot;. LeAnn actually checked and found us a unit that could be delivered close to the original quoted delivery date - so we didn't experience an additional 10-day back order delay. Not sure if Lowe's has computer/inventory status problems or just lacking order-continuity processes, but my recommendation is to ensure to work with their top performers: LeAnn and Carla.
We called our salesman to see if getting a loaner fridge from Lowe's was a possibility.
He went to management, who accommodated us. Good thing, as we have had the loaner now for nearly 3 weeks, while we deal very a very inept appliance repair company (which I have reported on Angies list as well).
Yes, we spent alot of money, but Lowe's unwrapped a brand new fridge and loaned it to us. They didn't have to and we are grateful they did. Thank you Lowe's-Schertz!!
