Chimney Masters

New home, so I hired them to inspect my chimney and tell me if it is safe to use. Pricey, but worth the piece of mind for me. I do not remember how much it cost.

I called them because I had a leak in my chimney and I was collecting water to the tune of a cup to 2 cups every time it rained. So, I called them and I said, I needed somebody to come and tell me why chimney is leaking. So, they sent this guy out, he went up to the chimney, he looked at it, he came back down. He said, ?your chimney is fine, it must have blown in, here is a certificate to give other people, so if you sell your house, they will know your chimney is fine!? 
The next day it rained and I collected another 2 cups of water. So, they did nothing for me. It was a really bad experience! He came right out, right on time.

I have since called another chimney guy and he is going to replace my chimney cap and my pan. He did not charge me $217 for zip!

After I had the second guy out, I called Chimney Masters and I talked to them. 
I said, I really, really think you did a bad job! He told me, "Ma'am, we did our 5 point inspection and your chimney passed our 5 point inspection and that's it!" 

The entire job was well done.

Kelvin called when he was on his way to give his ETA.  He was on time, even a little early, which worked well for my schedule.  He explained what he thought needed to be done - a thorough cleaning of the vent and the tube leading to the roof.  In addition, the dryer vent was L-shaped so that lint build-up was trapped as it was forced up the wall to the roof.  He said a flexible tube would prevent recurrence for a long time.  Since he had one on the truck he was able to install it for only $29 additional.
Kelvin Barsness is courteous and professional.  He even gave me a tip on preventing lint build-up from large, bulky loads of towels.  That is, simply adding a couple of tennis balls to the dryer load.
By the way, the business goes by several names: chimney masters, gutter masters, bug masters, etc; whereas the name of the company is Barsness Service Group, Inc.

I am really impressed with this company.  Very punctual, professional and knowledgeable.  The service technician did a very thorough job in cleaning the dryer vent, which turned out to be very clogged with lint.  I am so glad that I had this service performed, especially since I didn't know how badly it was clogged. 

We also had a chimney cap installed that was previously ordered.  Once again, a beautiful job, and I won't have to worry about  critters getting in anymore.

I had a great experience with this company from start to finish. Scheduling was quick and easy and the service tech was very punctual.  When he arrived, he explained the work that he would be performing and answered any questions that I had.  He was very knowledgeable, courteous, professional, and he did a great job cleaning and inspecting.  He was very tidy and used a cloth on the floor.  There had been some kind of nest in the chimney since we didn't have a screen at the top.  He told me that he could order a screen and come back to install.  I approved to order and in a few days we received a call that the cap had arrived and then I scheduled the installation.  (See review that I wrote for 8-6-14)  I will definitely use this company again.

It went well.  He set an appointment about 3 days after my call.  The next day, he finished another job early and asked if I would like the work done that afternoon, 2 days earlier that the date we originally set.  He came out and finished the job in less than two hours (stayed past 5).

I was determined last year that I would have a Fire in my Fireplace for Christmas - even if I had to turn on the A/C here in San Antonio to do it!

Purchased my newly constructed house in 2006 and had never had a fire in the fireplace, was concerned to make sure the original construction was good and intact & that over the years no Critters had made the chimney their home. So, I needed someone that knew what they were doing to check things out.

Was Extremely pleased with Chimney Masters, the gentleman that came out was on time, courteous, very knowledgeable and thorough! Luckily, everything was in good shape and I was able to have many nights over the holiday season with fires as the Texas weather cooperated also! 

The Peace of Mind allowed me to truly enjoy my Fireplace, you see, I'm also a Volunteer Firefighter in Bexar county and it would have been VERY unsettling to accidentally start a Chimney Fire in my own home.
