I called Discount to get our A/C running again after two previous service calls since December. Previous service calls dealt with refrigerant leakage (a new coil was installed for $1500) and faulty wiring in the outside unit (no parts needed, but a $100 service call). When Discount showed up they told me that the motor running capacitor and the motor contactor in the outside unit were defective. Discount replaced the parts and charged $180.00 for the capacitor and $220 for the contactor, plus labor. I challenged such high prices but I was assured that these were expensive and hard-to-get parts. After Discount left I researched these parts on the internet and found that I could buy the capacitor for about $17.00 and the contactor for about $60. When I confronted Devin Weber, Discount's owner, with this information, he tried to cover up and claim he had "made a mistake". He sent me a check for $100 as an accommodation for ripping me off, even though this didn't come close to the amount he overcharged. Fast forward to today. The same AC unit again stopped working so I called another company highly recommended on Angie's List. They came today at exactly the appointed time and started troubleshooting. They found that Discount had sloppily installed the motor running capacitor and vibration had caused it to touch some live electrical parts, causing a short and shutting the system down. As they worked, I noticed that while the capacitor looked shiny and new, the motor contactor was old and had never been replaced. Discount had overcharged me for something they didn't even install! I will never call Discount for anything again, and I advise you all to watch out for these guys. They are not only incompetent and careless, they are also utterly dishonest.

Our old unit was to costly and small to keep in place, and it was not heating and cooling our house properly. We converted the garage and needed to include those new rooms on the HVAC. The job was to install the new inside unit in the attic, and put a new outside unit on the house. It is June, and the house is still not done. We are waiting on him to come back and install the vent covers, and get the air flow ballanced to the rooms. My kids bedroom and my master bedroom are really cold in the winter and hot in the summer---they differ with the rest of the house by 10-15 degrees. They want more money to fix it, and keep promising to come out. Initially I called the company in San Marcos and they had the Austin guys do the install---maybe that was the problem, but I still have a unit I paid a lot of money for that is not giving me everything it was supposed to. I am very disappointed with the workmanship. I went up in our attic and it is a mess---torn out duct work was left up there, tools, open containers of sealant---just a mess for my husband and I to clean up. My advice is to not even ask them for a quote. It will take them forever to do. It took at least 2 weeks to get the units in, and I am still working on getting the rest complete.
Description of Work: I had a new unit installed in my home, inside and out. The new inside unit was re-located to the attic, and some additional duct work was installed to bring in the converted garage. The unit was sized appropriatly for the new space.

Horrible!!! An new HVAC was installed by their workers. They had no idea what they were doing. It was 4 days before I had a working AC (in June). I had things taken from my house and unprofessional workers doing the job and they left a mess (handprints & smudges all over my walls). In November, I found out that the heating part was never completely installed, so the heat did not work. They sent out a guy who did not know how to fix it.
Description of Work: Guys showed up at 11:00AM to install new HVAC system. By 7:00PM, they called it a day and did not have it running. It took 4 days. They left a horrible mess, and there were several problems. The city would not sign off on the work until the 4th visit. These guys were subcontracted by Sunergy LLC.
