It was clear what they both had, weepy eyes, coughing/sneezing and lethargy-- upper respiratory infection. Dr. Massey not only was TOO professional to the point of coldness, but she gave them the wrong medication and misdiagnosed them with allergies and a common cold. They were prescribed Baytril, Hydroxyzine and Simplicef. Normally Clavamox or Amoxicillin is the universal antibiotic for animals. After 4-5 days on these antibiotics they were not getting any better, in fact one was even worse. I looked up both antibiotics (Baytril and Simplicef) One was for SKIN conditions and the OTHER wasn't even TESTED on cats!! It was for dogs!! We were told the hydroxyzine was for the cough/sneezing and was an decongestant. AGAIN, not told about the side effects of the drug! One of the cats ended up barely eating to the point I had to force feed/water him, nauseous, lethargic and sedated-- because essentially THAT is what it does. It is the equivalent to a human anti-anxiety medication.
Banfield on DeZevala is our normal vet and we were finally able to get them seen there. BOTH cats had to have sub q fluids under the skin for dehydration and they were put on Clavamox. One was even so bad off that he had to be prescribed Famciclovir to ease the symptoms! All this could have been avoided if she would have listened to the symptoms and done her job correctly. We will NEVER be using this vet again, either she is a complete IMBECILE or she just wants money and was keen in making our pets sicker so we brought them back to spend more money. Both animals are MUCH better now with the right kind of medication and TRULY caring doctors-- and only after THREE days of seeing Dr. Cross at Banfield!

I had just moved to San Antonio with my pets and had not found a local vet. My very old dog Ponder went downhill fast and was in pain. I needed a vet even though it was Sunday afternoon. I found this emergency hospital from the voicemail message of another vet in town, and called. They said "bring him right over." As I expected, it was Ponder's end. They were very clear about the procedure, and gave me good counseling on my decision. The price was right given the emergency. They were very considerate and understanding, and let me stay for awhile with his remains, reflecting on his life as a dog. The price included the procedure, all pain medications, and cremation costs. Extremely professional. I received a follow-up card later in the mail.

You can get in pretty easy because the practice has 2 vets. They are located right off the highway so they are easy to get to. They seem fully able to take care of your animal without having to refer to another vet. Unfortunately, they do not offer an emergency service. I would say their prices are moderate to moderately expensive. It is a newer and very clean practice. They are very responsive and follow up after your pets’ treatments to see how they are doing if you have questions. The vet will always call you back and if they can't then a tech will. I usually don't have to wait before appointments, unless an emergency comes up with another animal or if I just drop in. You can tell they genuinely love animals. I am very satisfied with them.

One of our cats was diagnosed with heart disease (by another vet) 5 years ago. Dr. Mims has him on medication and monitors him closely. This cat has been doing fine. A second cat developed fibro sarcoma and we found it early. Dr. Mims did surgery immediately and she has been cancer free for 2 years. Dr. Mims is an exceptionally caring and qualified vet. He also cares about the pet's owners.

The vets and staff are superb. The boarding is expensive, but the animals are taken care of very well in a clean environment. I disputed a small charge one time and it was removed from my bill, so they do take customer service seriously.
