TruGreen Lawn Care - 5812

I prepaid a full year b/c I wanted to have nice grass. I'm embarrassed how much I paid. I could tell at the beginning of the year that my front grass was not growing back. Initially I was told by TruGreen, only after pre-paying, that they only fertilized grass, didn't make it grow back. I emailed TruGreen and went back and forth several times over a few months with promises a supervisor would get with me. I also called and spoke with people about escalating my complaint to a supervisor. 3 weeks later when the supervisor called me I said I was done with TruGreen. I got an email the next day stating my complaint had been closed. Obviously something they are used to. No other contact with TruGreen until I wrote on the signs they left in yard that "my grass was dead b/c of" above their name on the sign. I texted photos of my art work to TruGreen and nothing. OMG I cannot tell you how unworthy this company is of anyone's business. Such a rip off.

I used this company last fall and we hired TruGreen for prepping our yard to then to seed it and come out regularly for regular maintenance to get grass to grow. They aeriated the yard and put some pellets down as some sort of nitrate to "prep the ground" , which killed all of the existing grass and clover. What I was left with was a baren front and back yard. I would of been ok with this if they would have then seeded the yard and started to come regularly to do yard maintenance per the agreement that we signed up for. When we questioned the company on when would they be coming out to seed they apologized and stated that they actually don't do that in Texas and they returned part of our money. (they kept the part for the aeration) I'm now left with a terrible looking yard and seed has failed to take hold and I'm still looking for a replacement company since I work 90 hour weeks and don't want to do this work myself.

TruGreen is THE WORST company ever, and I do not say that lightly. I prepaid for an entire year, or at least that was what they sold me on the phone. I paid $990! I hired them for anti-fungal treatment. It took them 4 times to come out and apply the wrong treatment before I got a manager out and HE applied the fungicide. After 8 months, my weeds are worse than ever. They were never controlled but got worse. Then, even though I prepaid for a year, they started charging me after 6 months. When I called to rectify that, they said they came out the number of times they were supposed to and my contract wasn’t for the full year. Even though I pointed out that they came out 4 TIMES before applying the right treatment, they said it didn’t matter and refused to refund what extra they charged me. They have the worst and most unprofessional customer service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I am a single mom that got completely ripped off by them. Nothing was easy; it was a nightmare. They are horrible.

I purchased the prepaid plan and cancelled after three visits. I would not recommend this company because: 1) extremely long customer service hold times, 2) missed and rescheduled service dates, 3) misrepresented pricing.

First appt was cancelled. They said there was no gate code to get into neighborhood but when I called they said it was their mistake because it was on the paperwork so they rescheduled me for the next day. I come home and find they had put down fertilizer and I pull the signs out of my yard. Come home the next day after work and they had signs in my yard again and had reapplied a second application.Grass struggled after double application but I water extensively ($250 water bill) and it survived. Now last month a guy shows up and puts down sulfur. The next day another guys shows up and is in my yard applying something and I ask what it is and he says it sulfur but the whole yard is already completed. I said a guy just did it yesterday and you can see it on my drive way and sidewalk and we compared what he was applying to what was on the ground and it was the same. His response? "I don't know. I'm new. I'm just the sulfur guy." Fast forward 3wks...back yard grass is dying, beautiful 1y/o Cypress tree in my front yard is dying. I call trugreen and get someone who's kids are screaming in the background and she tries to tell stop watering my grass at 5am (but my horticulturist and several google searches say its the ideal time for a san antonio TX lawn) and she says water it overnight but according to the same horticulturist and multiple google searches later this makes your grass susceptible to fungus and other diseases since the grass stays wet so long. Long story short I get a call the next day from local TruGreen place and he tries to tell me we put down 2 different fertilizers on your yard. There is no way its our fault your lawn and tree is dying. We are sending out a specialist. I get a notification the next day they are coming to treat my lawn. No specialist coming. Thats it for me. I've spent ALOT of money on sod and trees for my yard here and before they touched it I had one of the best yards in the neighbor hood. No longer the case. Done with these people!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!

They came into my backyard uninvited through two gates one with sign NO TRESPASSING and stuck a lawn dart advertisement in my lawn. I called their local number and the service rep. (not local) put me on hold when I tried to complain. I will never use their services, especially when they have these business practices!

Customer service is very poor. Call any number you can find and it is rerouted to a call center that can only send requests for a local rep to contact you- surprise surprise they never do, they dont call text or email back anything. this is the second time ive had this issue with this company and will be cancelling my service that I prepaid for a years worth of treatments- Will NEVER use this company again- found LOTS of bad reviews for them on google as well. My specific c/s issues were: could not get anyone to let me know they were coming out ahead of time so i could keep the dogs off the front lawn chemicals for a few days- called at least 6 times and 2-3 applications before they could get ANY kind of notice to me by text VM or email. and this week a tech left without applying any treatment bc my back gates were locked BUT they dont treat my backyard ONLY the front!! obviously the employee did not even bother to look at my customer profile and it was a lie as well because i had left my gate locks open for my lawn to be trimmed and edged that day (I mow myself but edging is to exhausting for me) Company has gotten to big to care about customers!!! came on Anggies list to find new company, thanks Anggie for letting me warn others

Worst mistake I've made as a homeowner was throwing away money on Trugreen. My whole yard is dead. It's $66.03 per visit each month. When I was sold the plan I was told "With Trugreen you just have to water twice a week and your yard will look great". I have paid Trugreen over $730 so far since the contract started in March. It's an extremely expensive service and if it doesn't work you'll still be stuck in the contract with nothing to show for it. You're much better off fertilizing on your own, then you aren't out almost $1,000 by the end of a useless contract. Thank goodness I only have 2 services left, at this point I'm not going to let them in my yard. I will just pay for them to go away. I only have a little sod still living on the sides and don't want more damage. I would eat glass before getting stuck in another contract with this company.

The company was supposed to come out for the first time on October the 9th 2017. A technician called named Jamie and stated I was not in his service area (he is on the south side of SA and I am on the west side.) Even thought I called him back as soon as I heard the voicemail and knew it was a legit call he still would not come out to the home. He stated I needed to call into the main number and tell Trugreen to send the correct tech. I called Trugreen and they stated they would ensure someone would come by the end of the day yet no one showed up. I just called Trugreen today, the 10th, and they stated I was on the schedule for the 12th (first I had heard of it.) Seems to be little communication with the client and the company after you sign up for their slightly high pressure sales tactics. I am still contemplating if I will have any service done and I may look for other experts to assist.

Professional and punctual and good price, weed control is limited and not very affected on the weeds in my yard. They will tell you up front on which weed they can control. Make it is affective for the weeds they have in their yard.

Have only had 3 treatments, but the weeds are dying and the grass is growing. So far so good. Not giving an A yet as it is too early at this time. We have a large yard so it is higher for the service than most yards. Must watch out for them wanting to schedule services that you might not need. Just call and cancel those. They call 24 hours in advance for when they are going to show up, but you cannot pin them down to a smaller window.

Their price is reasonable. We only use them because they are the only ones available. If not, then I would not use them. They are usually pretty sloppy. They don't take the time to do the corners and stuff. It is wham bam thank you ma'am and they are gone. When they call, they need to have a real live actual person call instead of a recording so we can ask questions, if we have any. Instead of calling them back on a totally separate line.

It turned out fine.  I have contracted them to do the lawn service year round.  What stands out about TruGreen is their quality versus competitors.

It has now been a week and no call or appointment. It is clear to me that Trugreen is now into commodity sales and will not tailor their service to suit a lawn based on actual needs. I read some of the other reviews and I am glad they never contacted me. Saved by poor customer service. Thanks Trugreen for not calling me back !!

From day one it went bad! I instructed the sales person who told me he would personally oversee the care, that I do not leave my gate open, and therefore someone would need to call me within an hour or so before coming over. Well, let's just say out of the 4 times I had scheduled this one done once. If this company is too busy to communicate the wishes of its clients, then do not over promise and under deliver! Each time they treated it seemed like a marathon of treatment, like they had 30 more yards to get to the bonus! Requested a manager/ supervisor to simply reach put to me, and I was instructed it could take 48 hours and once no one even bothered to call! So, after wasting $250, I realized I can do what they do by simply going to home depot and googling a lawn treatment schedule online. Do yourself a favor and save the money! This company is only in it for the $$$! They could care less about a lawn!!

Only call Trugreen if you want to pay someone to kill your grass. When we bought our house, we had an absolutely beautiful lawn, the best on the street, and we wanted to keep it that way. We thought hiring Trugreen was the way to make that happen. Over the past year that we have used them, our lawn has slowly gotten worse and worse. We did everything right on our end - mowed, watered, & raked the leaves - yet it continued to worsen. We now have huge dead patches of grass throughout the yard, and we officially have the worst looking lawn on the street. My worst mistake was waiting this long to cancel, but I kept hoping that things would turn around. Now I'm out close to $1000 with a destroyed lawn. They continuously call to gain my business back, but I will never trust them to touch my lawn again.

Since June there have been numerous calls to Trugreen to rectify the issue by re-sodding the damaged part, A manager came out in early July and I was told this would be done. I waited a month and nothing happened. Calls to the main office are handled by very nice people who try to tone down customer frustration but the local office does not return phone calls. Even calls made where the manager is on the phone and will return the call in a few minutes take several more calls to the main office before someone locally responds. About 2 weeks ago I finally got to speak to the manager who came out in July and he assured me this would be done right away and apologized for not following up. Within an hour I got a call from the subcontractor who asked what kind of grass I have so he could order. A week went by and when I called (again) the polite customer service lady at the main office read the notes on the account and apparently a decision was made not to re-sod but no one called to tell me. With the time invested in making this company follow through on promises made, I could have done my own lawnwork and saved a lot of money and aggravation.
