Trey sat with me and went over my ideas and desires for our renovation and made numerous recommendations as well. They drew up designs and graphic renderings for me to review and had no problem when I tweaked the designs. Our overall plan was to add approximately 900 sq ft onto our home and entirely renovate the kitchen. We added a lot of features on along the way which, obviously, affected my cost but every one of them was worth it. We essentially built a new home on our property and I'm thrilled that is now my forever home. The quality of the workmanship means I know that in 30 years, I will still be as pleased with the final product as I am today.
Trey Tollette was SUPER great about returning EVERY phone call, A++ on communication! He would leave a message if he could not reach me. He provided detailed estimates broken down by project, materials, and labor. I appreciate that very much. Because of our critter problems under the house, Tollette dug a trench all the way around the house, ripped out the old, failing skirting, built out the new skirt framing, put in sheet metal and hardware cloth down some ~2 ft below the house, then sealed it up with hardie board (I chose hardie board to save money, but would have prefered cement facade had I had the cash). They replaced all 8 windows with trim inside and out. Upon discovering a drainage issue around the deck, because it finally rained, I asked them to replace the cheap, failing vinyl gutters with real ones. They replaced the exterior wall beautifully and had to rip out and replace the deck ,in part, due to the gutter issues, and also the critter issue, to access that area of the foundation. These projects took 2-3 weeks alone without painting.
Payments: I was asked to pay 50% up front, which I was a little worried about, however, I found no evidence of failed services for this company, so I did. The rest of the payments were done as work was completed on projects. I was always provided with an invoice to document payment and remaining balance on the agreed projects.
Construction crew: Albert was the lead guy on our project site and he and his crew were great! They were there every day, so I never had to wonder what's going on. They always cleaned up at the end of the day, communicated with me very well and were very friendly. Towards the end of the construction work, I started noticing the exterior of our house had half a dozen shades of tan and we needed to paint the exterior of the walls around the skirt and windows, so I asked to have the house painted. Tollette's painting crew was run by a guy named Paul. Paul was friendly and on time on our first meeting to discuss the details of the painting, but was much harder to communicate with after that. I told Paul to coordinate the dates for the interior work to prevent dog bites and/or destructive scratching of the walls and doors by our dogs. The exterior painting work was done without need for communication and done in a timely manner. The interior texturing and painting projects dragged much longer than they should have due to Paul's communication with Trey. For example Trey would tell me Paul was having one guy come tomorrow then the guy would not show, or would show at a much later time, or would show up with two other guys I wasn't expecting. Irritating, but the work did get done and done well. The painting projects took ~3-4 weeks in all.
~One year later post-project: We have seen evidence of things trying to dig under our house this past year, but nothing has successfully made a home under our house thanks to this work! The gutters in the back have proven to be worth the unexpected decking headache with the massive amount of rainfall we have had in May/June 2013. The windows are great and the paint does seem to be holding up great. I have been meaning to write this review for some time now, though I have personally recommended Tollette to numerous neighbors.
Excellent/ingenious craftsmen. Easy to work with.
Great communication.
Our first choice for any future projects.
