The Neighborhood Handyman

Robert was very punctual, professional, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and competent. We had a reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink that needed to be replaced. He removed the old one and installed the new one. He also put a screen door back on track, adjusted a toilet handle and replaced a sink drain stopper in our bathroom. I highly recommend him.

Very competent and easy do deal with. Charged a straight hourly rate and came in under estimate. We have an older house and needed a go-to repair person and we have one now.

Timely, productive and very courteous

This job required thoughtful consideration and precise accuracy.  We had added on to the existing slab patio and covered it with the same shingle roof as our house.  Mistakes had been made and there was water damage behind the ceiling and incorrect measurements.  Robert and I talked about the look we wanted and he nailed it, it's perfect.  
The room feels and looks more like a room addition than a screened in patio because of the wonderful construction. Robert removed the existing ceiling panels and found water damage underneath.  He removed and replaced the damaged boards and batting.  He added a radiant barrier and replaced the batting.  The ceiling was replaced using bead board. He then framed in the three walls and installed a separately purchased double screen door on one side and a single screen door on the other.  Seven screened panels were installed into the window frames using a track system for the screens instead of stapling the screens in place.  
The interior walls and ceiling are an attractive bead board and I love that he built actual window frames.  Other companies that specialize in screened in patios did not and would not build it this way.  The exterior of the house was built using Hardi-plank siding and trim to match the back of our home.  
Our room is perfect!  We love spending time there and everyone who has seen it admires his work.  Our relationship with Robert began with needing to install a new garbage disposal.  Since then he has done several jobs for us, we always say that the rest of the house may fall down but nothing that Robert has done will.
While he was building our room i had our cedar fence replaced.  He was kind enough to offer to look over my estimate and suggested using thicker planks and screws instead of nails.  I didn't know there were different sizes of planks and never would have thought about using screws.  The neighbors dog jumps against our fence so the thicker planks really help.
Aside from doing an outstanding job each and every time, he has shown me how to fix some things myself and shown me easier ways to do things.  He showed my son how to fix a leaking bathroom faucet.  He is a wonderful man, honest, polite, courteous, prompt, meticulous and a problem solver. He corrects others mistakes.  He's also patient and kind with my constant questions about how to do things.  I tell him we all have handyman crushes on him.  My daughter in law said she wished could follow him around to learn how to do things.  We told him he should teach people how to do all these different things; his skills are endless.

Robert was on time and did all work requested.  I was impressed with how he repaired the small hole in the bathroom wall.  He was able to match the existing texture almost perfectly.  Thank you Robert!

The wall unit was an IKEA and my son's girlfriend and I thought we'd be able to do it ourselves. One side of each of the eight units wasn't going to be in a stud, I had visions of the wall falling down from the weight and the other issue was the wiring.  Robert installed the unit so well that I told my husband if the house falls down the wall unit will be the only thing standing.  My son's girlfriend said she wished she could apprentice with him.
Robert had done two smaller jobs for us in the past.  The first time we met him was to replace a garbage disposal and we knew we wanted to keep his number.  Robert is a man of good character.  He is competent, capable, reliable, trustworthy, knowledgeable, fair in price, consistent, focused and a diligent worker.  He is intelligent, has a good attitude, pleasant to be around and explains things well.  
We trust and like him so much that he will be doing a bathroom renovation for us in the fall.  We talked about it while he was here and he gave me some great advice and told me about things we need to consider that I never would have known or thought of.

I was VERY delighted with the quality of his work and his professionalism. I definitely will be calling Robert again when future projects stack up. I was delighted to find him on Angies List and highly recommend him to others.

Things started very well. Robert called us back shortly after leaving a voice message in his cell phone (which was full). He gave us some great advise and eventually dropped by for an estimate (although his estimated day and time was missed initially). Personally, I like him, he seems like a nice guy and gave us a good quote (compared to 2 other estimates).
He picked up the doors on a Friday and told us he would let us know via text that weekend for the estimated time of completion (since he was subcontracting the job) but he said it would take about 1 week. The weekend went by and no text. We had some flexibility but needed them back within 2 weeks. I texted him on Friday (1 week from pickup) and got a response later that day saying that the subcontractor was running behind because he needed to replace a part in his bench but was getting it that day. Two weeks later, and several texts from our part, and not a word from Robert (there was no way of leaving a voicemail because the calls were simply dropped). We decided to go to his listed business address (which happens to be his home). His wife was very polite and courteous. She took our info the second time we went by (because Robert was not back as expected and he was indeed having trouble with his cell phone). Later that evening, Robert showed up with the doors completed and knocked off about 25% from the initial quote (nice gesture, but an explanation and an apology was also expected).
Overall, the job was par. If it wasn't for the lateness and the lack of proper/expected communication, he would have received from us a very good review. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

Robert answered the call on Monday and said he could come out the next day. he called before he came and arrived promptly. When he saw the job he said that it wouldn't take him a full hour and since he charges by the hour we should look around and use his skills at no extra cost. he then renailed some of the other boards.
Before he left I had him give me an estimate to remodel my kitchen area which would include demolishing the tiles, backsplash and sinks. We discussed styles, products and he gave me what I consider a very reasonable price. Although I cannot have the work done at the present time I will definitely give Robert a call soon to set a date to have this started. This is something I've wanted for such a long time and am very excited at the prospect of having a new look in the kitchen.
I've also thought of several other smaller projects for which I will call him again as he is very professional and honest. Guess you can tell I will definitely use him again. I am very grateful he answered my call as we are not in his area. Thank you Robert !

He was excellent. He did a great job. His price was right and he's punctual. He's very honest and you don't see that very often. The services were great. He came in when he said he would. He brought it back when he said he would. The only thing we were just a little bit shocked by the price that he gave us. It was probably our fault to because we didn't asked him upfront how much it would cost us to basically repair that chair; it was just a dining chair. I would give him another chance because what I can do this time I could negotiate the price with him if I find it higher with what I think we should be paying. I thought it was a little bit higher. The price seemed to be excessive. Other than that he's very good and intelligent. He just figure things out that other people cannot figure out when it comes to putting stuff together. He works very fast.

I have trusted Robert with my personal homes as well as my client's homes. If I want something done right, I can count on him to not take any shortcuts, get the job done and most importantly, keeping the price down. Highly recommend him and crew and will continue to use him in the future.

Made an appointment with Robert Hamilton to build a 4' x 7' shipping crate to protect a large decorative mirror during moving and storage. Robert was on time and performed the requested work very professionally. I will use Mr. Hamilton again and recommend him.

Robert responded to my call quickly and arranged to come out early the folllowing morning. He arrived on time as scheduled,assssed the needs and completed the work in a timely manner. His mannerism is very professional, he was tidy and cleaned up after completing the job. His fees were reasonable and I would recommend him to anyone who needs a handyman.

Searched Angie's list for a good handyman. I called several people, and I got not response till days later. I called Robert, and he responded immediately. I told him the job I needed done, and he was able to come out later that day. I showed him what I needed done, and he gave me a price for the job. He was very reasonable and completed the job in a decent amount of time. No complaints at all, and I am definitely using him again. I recommend him to anyone that needs any handy work done around the house.

On a Saturday, he showed up when he scheduled, with a call ahead. Jumped right in and changed out the faucet. Very professional. Took him about 50 minutes. He cleaned up afterward. Gave an estimate on some bathroom work. Good Job overall.

Everyone was absolutely excellent and professional. Their prices were so reasonable for each project. They really cared about her and ensured it would be safe for her. I will definitely be using them again for other projects. I was so happy with using them. They are definitely a step above.

Great job on all projects. Called him the day prior. He said he would be here the next day. He was on time. Advised me it would be cost effective to change out the whole light fixture rather than change the ballasts on the lights. Showed me how to change out an outdoor faucet, as he fixed the one that had a problem, so I can do it myself in the future. Was very professional and very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend him to anyone needing a handyman.

I called Mr. Hamilton early this morning and he was at my residence a couple of hours later the same day. He is quite thorough and professional. He works with a great code of ethics regarding his cleanup and care for my property. He is very honest concerning his abilities and limitations. He did not to pretend to be knowledgeable about something that was not in his wheel house. Robert made suggestions with reference to my projects I presented and he left the final decision to me without any pressure. I felt that his cost for service was very reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be using his service again in the future. Thanks Robert!

Mr. Hamilton showed up promptly at the designated appointment time and went to work immediately installing the ceiling fan. It went very smoothly and he put all of the pieces of the old fan, including screws, light fixture, etc., into the new fan box to be discarded. He then replaced the sprinkler system control box, and checked each zone to make sure they worked properly. Then he even set the days, times and length of watering for each zone. It has been a "lifesaver". Then he replaced two broken garage door panes (which I had purchased) and caulked all around them.
We have used him on several different occassions to paint, repair a fence, install a kitchen faucet and and an outdoor faucet. We have always been very pleased with his work. I would highly recommend Mr. Hamilton.

On a Saturday we decided to change our kitchen light fixture because the current one was old and lightbulbs kept burning out. We started the project after noon, and my husband was concerned to see charred wires and cracks in our ceiling. We decided we needed to have someone else take a look at the light. I started calling around and everyone was closed on Saturdays but Robert (The Neighborhood Handyman). Not only did he answer our call but came by THAT DAY to help us. After his review of our electrical work, he determined we would need a master electrician. I was a little worried but he referred us to a great reasonable electrician who fixed this issue.
Since he was at our house, my husband asked about moving some french doors from one room to another. Robert quoted $150 which we thought was a very fair price. We scheduled a time later in the week for this to occur, and Robert showed up on time and did a great job! Not only that, but he charged us $25 less because the work was faster than anticipated.
We are very thankful for Robert. He is a very kind person that I trust in my home and highly recommend him!
