"We did no major work the the system beyond routine seasonal maintenance prior to the duct replacement. The system was not moved during the duct replacement, in fact the existing "spiderman access" location was a labor issue we had to overcome when replacing the duct system. What we found when the humidity issue was finally solved was that the wiring was backwards at the control board when the system was installed originally by another AC company. This backwards wiring was bringing on the second stage ac system on when it should have been calling for the first stage, and vice versa. The reason we were contracted to replace the duct work was because the customer said the system had not kept the house cool or performed up to his expectations since original installation by another company. Because the duct system we installed has nothing to do with electronics or wiring of the system, I find it highly unlikely that the improper wiring of the system effecting the stages and humidity was caused by any of the work we did. Furthermore, we spent many many hours at no cost to the customer to try and locate and remedy the humidity issue that arose after duct work was done and airflow specifications to the house were corrected. There are two systems in the home and the humidity issue was only a factor on one of the systems after the duct work was done. We were told repeatedly by the customer that we had indeed made a positive change in the way the other system performed and cooled after we replaced the duct work. Once the wiring issue (which was in my opinion created by the company that originally installed the systems) was corrected, our new duct system performed as it is specified for and a difference was definitely made in the way that system cooled its section of the home. The specification issues that led to the duct replacement is decided and corrected using math formulas created by airflow specifications companies for the industry and are not open to speculation during diagnostics. If the math doesn't add up and the comfort level isn't right, then the duct work has to be replaced to proper specifications decided by the formula. So we fully stand by the recommendation for and eventual upgrade to the duct system that was performed. I think by also finding the root of the humidity issue created by poor wiring by original install crew, we provided exceptional service while waiving all diagnostic charges. We also had absolutely nothing to do with the location of the units in the attic. Those units were not installed or placed in that position by TASCO. We adapted the duct work exactly where the system was already sitting. In fact the "spiderman access" to the second system was a major labor issue for us when we were doing the installation. I feel this review is highly inaccurate and would like it amended or removed. I am always available to discuss this issue via email, phone, or in person. I look forward to hearing more on this issue and come to some resolution. I feel the things said here are unfair. Laine W. "The price of refrigerant fluctuates drastically and has for the last five years due to the phasing out of old R22 refrigerant and updating to 410a. Often the pricing changes $30-$50 from day to day. Our pricing is quite competitive with most of the reputable companies in the territory and we stand by our prices as well as our reviews from other customers praising our pricing and honesty. I find this review to be excessive considering the other negative review from the same customer. The customer could have addressed his concerns in the other review but instead made a second review to try and bring down our average score. That is unfair and unethical in my opinion. I will be calling my Angie's List representative to have it removed."
"We offer our sincere apologies for the troubles with your installation. These things can be especially tricky when dealing with minimal attic space and a 25+ year old system. My office has processed a check for you to take care of the alarm company bill, as we discussed on the phone. As of our phone conversation we had yet to receive the bill, but it has been sent to us since we last spoke. The office has cut a check and mailed it to your residence. As for the gas valve, we have discussed at length that the system had to be moved to complete the job. This required us to remove the gas piping from the extremely old existing gas valve. Once that was removed the threads on the gas valve would no longer hold the new pipe. The age of the system and possible other issues on the horizon were discussed with you before the coil replacement even took place... explaining to you that attempting to put a brand new coil on a 25+ year old furnace was not the wise or recommended course of action. This gas valve was compromised simply because of it's age when trying to do what was needed for a normal installation. It is not our responsibility to cover that part and when we spoke about it on the phone it was understood by me that you were in agreement. As for any errors in duct work installation, we have gone back and corrected the issues to your satisfaction... re-taping and sealing sections of the duct work that had come apart. We suspect that the mastic used didn't hold well due to the advanced age and condition of the existing duct work, creating a compromise in the tape and mastic hold. As for the look of it, there is only so far we can go to make it pretty when trying to attach 30 year old duct work to a shiny new coil. As soon as we were made aware of the issue we returned and re-sealed the system at no cost to you. Again, we apologize for any trouble but feel we were readily available to correct things you were unhappy with and offer compensation for issues that we were responsible for."
"We apologize for your displeasure... however you are drastically mistaken about the actual events and conversation we had. Originally we came out because one system was not cooling at all and you had no airflow to a section of the house because a rodent had completely torn out a section of flexible duct. At that time we quoted you $350 to cut a hole in the ceiling to gain access to a 6" flex duct that had been torn apart by rodents and replace it. I found the system that wasn't cooling to be low on refrigerant. I filled it with refrigerant and charged you $250 for that. When we came back to do the work on the torn up flex run, you asked us to perform a leak search on both evaporator coils due to the leaking refrigerant. We explained to you that each leak search is $125... and you agreed. So we performed the leak search on each system and found both to be leaking. So at that point your invoice was $350 + $250 all work that was agreed upon before it was performed. While we were in the attic performing the leak search we noticed both drain pans completely full of water. At that point we explained that both pans were full of water and the drains needed to be cleared. We explained the fee for clearing drain lines and vacuuming out the almost 15 gallons of water that was sitting in those pans. We quoted you $200 dollars for that work and you once again agreed. $350 + $250 + 200 (for work we did in fact discuss in detail) for a total of $800 When it came time to pay, you did indeed complain. This part of your story is in fact true. I agreed to take of $55 and you paid us $745 We made two separate trips to do this job and a total of about six hours over those two trips. I told you during the first call (in your front room with your son present) that you had many issues with the system as well as the possibility of a drain line issue creating an abundance of water. I have all of that detailed on my invoice. The only thing you did not agree to originally was the leak searches but you changed your mind when we came out the second time to perform the work. In conclusion, I am sorry that you feel like you were treated unfairly, but you did in fact agree to all the work performed before we did it as is our policy. We ALWAYS bring the work to the customer with a quote and gain authorization before we perform any task. To say different is absolutely false. I will let my reviews below speak for themselves. There is no record in any of my online reviews that I perform work without an up front and accurate quote."
