TERRIBLE - DON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR SPA CRAFTERS, INC The have a MONOPOLY on Jacuzzi in San Antonio area. Instead, buy from Costco or anywhere else, and you'll be glad you did!

Do NOT hire them. They will rip you off. Hired them to fix our hot tub and they charged $220 to come look at it and then ignore us for weeks and then just tell us weeks later they can't get the part. Then they pull the "bait and switch" of trying to sell us a new one with a "trade in" value of "They don't know until they know the cost of the one we buy". Basically they will jack up the cost of the one you buy to cover the value they give you on the trade in. They have horrible communication and lie to your face. Do NOT trust them.

We had the tub delivered, and it's been great. The delivery crew had a rough time getting it into my backyard because of it's size, but they didn't give up. It works very well, and we know that Spa-Crafters will help us keep it working for many years.

Awful as usual. Just 3 months prior had to replace circuit board for the 2nd time within a year. $500.00 dollars. Technician tried to get boss to adjust price because of short duration but boss refused. After spending so much money the last 2 years the last time the technician advised the work would cost us approx $1000 to fix. We simply let them take the spa. We have bought several items from their business and similar results. The only good thing is we never have to darken their door again.
Response from SPA CRAFTERS INC
"Our work here at Spa Crafters for the last 35 years is of the highest caliber, and of those 35 years we have sold the Jacuzzi brand for 28. We sold the tub in very good condition and hauled the tub away at no cost since the customer did not want to spend the amount we quoted for repairs. We have photos and documentation on the spa to show its before and after condition. The owner of the company personally oversees and analyzes every item that enters or leaves our store to ensure the quality of our products. After taking apart the tub himself, the owner found an abundance of chemical damage done to the spa, causing the seals of all three pumps to leak. The circuit board needed replacement due to the off-gas that was created from the use of too much chemical which likely caused it to short out. When we replaced the circuit board the second time, it was already out of its 6 month manufacturer warranty, and we did discount the labor charge of installing the board by $50. In addition, there was a buildup of calcium within the confines of the pumps and the speakers and other parts within the shell were heavily discolored. The pillows crumble to the touch. The majority of the time spas have issues is due to poor maintenance rather than something technical. We cannot stress enough how important chemistry is for the tub to our customers. We provide our customers with a chemical sheet that specifies which chemicals need to be used, when, and how much specifically for San Antonio water. We ask our customers when they come in how their tub is doing and if they are putting the right chemicals in. We do the best that we can, but we cannot control our customer’s actions or maintenance."

Kelly did come to our place the day before delivery. He made his observations then asked for check for $750.00 Without thinking a,bout it I stupidly wrote the check, feeling pressure the spa was being delivered the next day - he had me make the check out him. He offer no invoice or other details of the work.

The next day a general contractor and his son ( not a dedicated hot-tub electrician ) arrived to do the work - come to find out that Kelly offered them a total of $350.00 for the job he stated was $750.00.. Kelly pocketed $400.00 of my money!

The following day I went to Spa Crafter with the measurements of wire about 14' used and the info that the work was done for $350.00. I had offered Kelly an honorable resolution - that I understood that it was better to over estimate a job than to request more money from a customer. He would not reconsider arguing that it was to late to negotiate the price.

I trusted the store manager of Spa Crafter and in the most simplest of terms was ROBBED !!!!

"company's do need to make money to stay in business what if it cost kelly more than 750.00 dollars from the electrical contractor he could not ask for more money from the customer Spa Crafters thinks that the estimate was fair considering the short time frame for hook up"

We are very satisfied with our purchase; we use it at least twice a week. The Jacuzzi J-480 is the Lexus of spas, and Spa Crafters has been an excellent dealer. I can't imagine how they could be any more helpful or courteous. We will DEFINITELY purchase our next spa from them, if and when the Jacuzzi needs to be replaced.

If you are new to spas, I recommend extensive online research on different brands.  Avoid the ebay brands; most of them have little to no factory support, so their warranty (if they even have one) is virtually worthless.  The spa business seems to have moved forward light years since the fly-by-night brands and dealers of the 1970s and 80s.  The top models are complicated, with a lot of useful and enjoyable features, but if they are built with quality high-grade components, many owners are reporting 8-12 years (or more) of virtually trouble-free use.  This was why we finally only looked at Jacuzzi, Hot Springs and Sundance brand spas.

I purchased a HotSpring Vanguard Portable Spa (with the ACE Salt system, a wireless sound system, and wireless TV system) from this store and took delivery on September 30, 2011. The team that came to install the spa arrived at approximately 2:30 in the afternoon and proceeded to install the spa with the electrician team over the next several hours. There were no instructions given to my wife or myself with regards to initial filling and water care (PH/Alkaline/Chlorine/Calcium Hardness levels); the team simply filled the spa with our hose and activated the ACE system. I also asked about the lit handrail that we purchased with the spa, and the delivery team told me to call my salesman because it was not listed on their delivery sheet and they did not bring it. I called my salesman and he apologized and said he would get someone out with it in a day or two. I reminded him that the spa could not be filled until that hand rail was set up, and he said he would send someone out on his way home that evening with the hand rail. One of the staff came by with the handrail and quickly set it up for us, and then left as he was on his way home. The remaining delivery team left an iCast receiver with me and simply told me to plug it in within 100 feet of the spa—I had no idea how to work the controls on the spa and no help was provided. The team installed a TV monitor on the spa but did not provide any wireless AV transmitter. I asked about this and was told that the iCast receiver was all I needed. Not knowing much about the system, I took their word and started reading up on the system after they left at 6PM. I quickly learned several things were missing/incorrect: 1. According to the paperwork the team left me,the ACE system is not supposed to be initiated until the water in the spa has been balanced (PH/Alkaline/Chlorine/Calcium Hardness levels), so I was concerned about harming the system. I immediately called the store on the morning of October 1, 2011 and was told that the person who knew about the ACE system no longer works there and that nobody really knows much about it. I was told someone would call me back. I got a call an hour later from a woman at the store who claimed to be the local expert on the ACE system. I explained to her how the spa was set up and filled by her staff before the water was balanced, and she stated that the setup process may damage the ACE system. I expressed my concern and frustration, and she told me I needed to bear with Spa Crafters since this ACE system is so new—nobody really knows much about it, especially the delivery team. She told me that I needed to balance the chemicals in the water and that I may need to clean the ACE system since it was set up before the water was treated properly. I followed the written instructions on cleaning the ACE system and got the water within acceptable limits within 24 hours. 2.The wireless AV transmitter required to watch TV from the spa was not delivered. I called the store back again on Oct 1, 2011 and spoke to my salesman. He apologized and stated that he had left all of the electronic equipment in a bag under the counter and that he did not know why it was not delivered. He said that he would send someone out with the equipment to set it up for us ASAP. The next day someone came out to install the wireless AV transmitter, but he only had the iCast receiver with him when he arrived. I explained that I already had the iCast transmitter and that I needed the AV transmitter; he said he forgot the AV transmitter and apologized. He said he would call one of the other delivery guys and they would bring it by after their last job that evening. I expressed my concern to Spa Crafters that I was getting a little bit tired of being the last stop of the day for their team; it seemed like they were always in a hurry to get home. They assured me that the person coming by would know exactly what to do and how to hook everything up. The delivery person showed up at around 6PM that evening with a bag full of parts and paperwork; he handed me the bag and told me that all he was supposed to do was deliver this “stuff”; he did not know how to set it up. He gave me the bag and left. 3.Once I dug into the bag the next morning, I could see I was going to need someone to set this system up—all of the parts were unboxed and loose, there was no packing list, there were instructions for parts I did not have and there were parts and pieces that had no accompanying instructions. Furthermore, the power adapter was a European plug design and there was not a US power adapter with the items in the bag. I called Spa Crafters AGAIN and let them know that I was very angry with the lack of service and that I needed someone to come out, bring the proper power adapter, and set up the system ASAP. They sent someone out later that day to set the system up and I noticed two things wrong: no remote control for the TV system and no HDMI (High Definintion) hookups on the wireless AV transmitter. The Spa Crafters rep who came out to set the system up looked at the owner’s manual with me and indeed it states that the remote control is supposed to come with the system. He did not know about the HDMI hookup, however. I explained to him that when my salseman sold us this system, he stated clearly that it came with a remote for the TV and that the system was High-Definition….I made a point to clarify that with him in the store as I am very particular about my electronics. I made some phone calls to the store and they told me that they called “HQ” (don’t know where that is) and it turns out the TV does not come with the remote and that I would need to purchase the HDMI-equipped transmitter for additional money if I wanted that feature. All I wanted was what I was sold, and all I’ve gotten from Spa Crafters are excuses, apologies, and shrugs. It's a shame--the spa is beautiful but the experience was awful. I am afraid that their sales staff and delivery staff do not communicate and, even worse, that they do not accurately represent the products they are selling. My salesman felt bad about my experience so he had one of the Spa Crafters staff members bring me a spa remote for no charge. I appreciate the gesture but I would have been happier just getting exactly what I was sold.

I am satisfied with the services I received. I have not been using Spa Crafters very long. This is actually the first time I have ever had a problem with the spa. They were able to fix the leak in no time at all. I appreciate how prompt the company was, I did not expect them to come and fix it for days. They were able to come out the same day and do the job. They were very professional and nice. The pricing you could say was pretty fair.
