On 8/30/2025, I contracted with Michael San Miguel of South Texas Roofing for repair and renovation work on our home. We agreed on a price, and he started work on 9/20/2025. Things were going along well until 10/9/2025 when he said that he would need to take the day off because his mother-in-law was in the hospital. He did not show up on 10/10/2025. Every time I texted or tried to call him after that, there was another excuse why he could not be here working. This continued until he finally showed up on 11/6/2025 and stayed for around 1.5-2 hours. He did not show up the next day. When I texted him, he gave me an excuse about needing to take another week off for his health. I wished him well and said I would see him the following Monday. He did not show up on Monday. When I texted him, he said he would text me after his appointment that day. After doing some research I found that he had skipped out on other jobs, and that there was a news report about him.

I hired South Texas Roofing, Owner Michael San Miguel to replace my roof and paying him $12,500 he started making excuses and changing the start date for replacing the roof. This project was to be completed a week before Thanksgiving of 2023. Communication is poor, never calls me but always texts me. I have taken him to small claims court but he never showed up so the Judge awarded me the judgement against him. I also did a Writ of Execution and when the Constable when to execute the judgement all he told the Constable that he would make payment arrangements every 30 days he would pay me $2,000 starting 30 June 2025. Again he broke the promise to pay. Customer beware of this contractor not dependable, never returns your calls. Next option is to file for breach of contract or even theft.

Michael was phenomenal, he showed up quickly and went on our roof and showed us pictures of the problem we were dealing with, he was able to fix the leak on the spot and the price was fair. I would highly recommend his company to anyone. His work also came with a 5 year warranty. I cross referenced his company and he is in great standing with the better business bureau as well.

I had my entire roof redone in November 2016. After having several estimates done I decided to go with South Texas Roofing because of their great customer service, immediate availability, ability to repair my leaking roof in a quick and timely manner, and their "10 year warranty". Everything seemed to be going smoothly, they had the roof done in a matter of days and cleaned up. A few weeks later there was a heavy rain storm that came through, at which time a new leak began in my garage under a vent. The leak caused significant damage to my garage wall above my washer and dryer and caused damage to an electrical socket that water was dripping onto. Once I became aware of the leak I contacted South Texas Roofing and they agreed to come fix the roof calling the leak an "Easy Fix", they came a few days later and fixed the leak because I do not have any knowledge of roof repair I did not question their repair and considered it resolved. I recently come to find out by another roofing company, that when South Texas Roofing came out to do the repair rather than do it correctly they used calking to seal around the vent and stop the leak rather that correctly doing the repair using the proper method. When I inquired with South Texas Roofing about the damaged to the inside of my garage I got the run around and nothing was resolved, I made the repairs on my own by hiring another company to remove drywall and assure there would be no electrical issues. On April 24, 2019, I arrived home to find my roof had begun leaking causing damage and warping to my newly installed floors that were soaking wet, water damage to my recently replaced and repainted walls and ceiling in three rooms and restroom, and a growing puddle of water in the adjacent corner of the 3 rooms. The next morning April 25, 2019, I made contact via phone call with South Texas Roofing Owner, Michael R. San Miguel, I informed him of the situation and he agreed to come out the following morning to resolve the issue. I text him pictures of the some of the damages along with my address to assure there would be no further issues before the next rain storm came through. The following day April 26, 2019 I called out of work and waited for him to arrive, to my surprise he did not show up. Due to being overly patient, I did not contact him until following Saturday April, 27, 2019 to re-schedule a time for him to come. I sent a text asking for a time, he stated he would be at my home on Monday April 29, 2019. Again, I called out of work and waited for South Texas Roofing to arrive, I also called and text Michael San Miguel that morning but did not get a response, for a second time they did not show up to do the repairs. Since this day I have called, emailed, and text many times with not a single response. Due to South Texas Roofing and Michael San Miguel unwillingness to uphold their contract I had another company come do the repair on my roof they disclosed several issues with my roof with pictures videos and showed me pictures of how the work should have been done in the first place. I would truly appreciate it if Mr. Michael San Miguel or anyone from South Texas Roofing for that matter to returned my calls and up hold their contract and repair the work and damages. My current concern is that my roof will continue leaking and mold and other issues will arise.

This roofing contractor was very quick to respond which we thought was great. They "completed" the work same day as well. The day after heavy rain hit and my roof was still leaking in the same area that was “repaired”. We found out the roof was still leaking because South Texas Roofing had not repaired the roof where repairs were needed. At the time of their arrival, the ceiling in the house was caved in and they came inside the house and saw through the rafters to the underside of the roof, so there was no question of the area that was in need of repair. The only repairs made were done on 3 roof vents that were never leaking. The 4th vent that was leaking was never repaired. Disappointing because they came in the house and looked at the area that was leaking, there was no ceiling and they could see the rafters and OSB roof decking that was very clearly wet. One of the vents that they repaired, they did not re-install the tar paper and silicone caulk was used instead of proper roof sealant. We’ve since contacted a second roofer who replaced the tar paper and sealed everything using proper roof sealant, they also sealed the remaining two vents. We did contact South Texas Roofing to come back the next day, however changed our minds because of our lack of confidence with this roofing contractor. We called on a second roofing contractor who repaired the poor quality and lack of repairs on work that South Texas Roofing was supposed to have repaired. I would not recommend South Texas Roofing for home shingle roof repairs. The cost of “repairs” done by South Texas Roofing was much higher in comparison to other companies, we used them because they were able to come the same day.

Michael San Miguel did as he promised. Brought in a large crew, finished in one day and did a through cleanup. This job was done September 2017. Had a problem in June 2018 and it was taken care of promptly. I appreciated the professionalism Michael displayed for the entire time I dealt with him.

We signed a contract to have Michael San Miguel with South Texas Roofing replace our roof with a start date of Oct. 9th and gave him a down payment. After various delay tactics we accepted on good faith, he now has not returned our phone calls or texts, nor done any of the work and we have not been given a refund. I am saddened that I trusted him due to this list and due to our neighborhood blog, but now I feel compelled to warn others.

South Texas Roofing repaired our concrete tile roof and did a spectacular job. Even having to do more work than we initially expected because of more damage to the wood underneath the tiles than we thought, they finished in a single day and very close to the original estimate. Their prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality and attentiveness of their work. We'd absolutely recommend their services to all of our family and friends.

The damage was worse than I thought, but they still repaired the roof and finished that day. Cleaned everything up and gave me a detailed written receipt. Very professional and service oriented. Great job!

After getting a couple of estimates I decided on Michael's company because of how confident he was about the job.  I think he actually was priced a little more than some other estimates but his written warranty was unbeatable and he said he knock out this job super quick.  When I decided, I called him again and his guys were there the same day and finished the job in a 3 hours. Everything looked great, he gave me a written warranty and left.  It's been over 2 years and the roof has held up well.

We were selling our home and inspector found several items that needed to be taken care of.  I called Michael San Miguel as he had done some previous work on our roof when we first bought this home.  He came out within 24 hours and gave us an estimate for all the things that needed to be done.  He started the following day and finished up by Monday of the following week.
Michael and his crew were truly life savers and were very reasonable with this cost.  They showed up on time and worked all day and cleaned up any mess that they made.
I would recommend them to anyone!

Michael and his crew removed, replaced and painted the siding and trim pieces on the side of my house in three days. The work is spotless and the clean-up was taken care of. This is the second time I have had Mike and his crew at my home in the past two years, once to replace the roof and then this time for the siding. I have an older home, but Mike was able to match the siding and the paint job was a perfect match. I will definitely hire Mike for any future work I need done, There is much more to South Texas Roofing than tar paper and composite shingles.

We recently bought this home in October and knew we had some roofing work to be done based on a home inspection. We called around and finally called South Texas Roofing. The owner, Michael San Miguel, responded to our call within the hour and came out the following day to give an assessment of what needed to be done. He and his crew went over the entire roof of our 2 1/2 story home and gave us an estimate. They came back within a few days and took care of all of the issues. They were here for at least 6 hours doing this work.
On 12/10/201 we noticed the upper gutters on the roof covering the sun room in the back were not draining properly so we called Michael to come check it out. He came out today and he found 3 plastic jalapeno peppers lodged down inside the upper gutter which was causing the problem. They were promptly removed and the gutter works fine now. He said thank goodness you called as a heavy rain could have caused the entire gutter to collapse. He did this for no charge.
South Texas Roofing is a great company and I would always call them in the future for any roofing/guttering work.
