NOT AS GOOD AS REVIEWS! LIED TO MY FACE! I would not recommend Anthony Comachos South Texas Fence. They lack integrity and choose speed and convenience over quality! I hired stx fence to build a residential privacy fence. Nothing fancy just a 6ft cedar fence with postmaster metal posts. The owner Anthony Camacho started off straight forward. He gave me a price, start date and finish date. Price was competitive and came in the middle of the 4 other bids I obtained. So I decided to go with him. He gets one star for starting and finishing when he said he would. And from a distance the fence looks pretty good. But in saying that, cedar looks good in a pile at home depot. Upon closer review the quality of the fence was poor. Rails missing screws and screws drilled in at a 45 deg stripped out. Several nails not properly shot through the nail gun then hammered in sideways. The neighbor and I had to ask the workers to go back and add some screws that were missed. But even at first inspection we ourselves missed some. During the build I had to ask young worker to make a couple holes deeper because it was only 12 in deep. He kinda smirked at me and said he couldn’t because of rock. So I replied “yes I know this is San Antonio, half the city is straight rock after a couple inches into the ground”. A hard dig is part of the job as fence builder in San Antonio, so I couldn’t understand his excuse. We had also requested a rot board on the bottom due to a drop off/runoff at the property line. He agreed and charged us extra to do it. But when it was completed they had put the 2x6 at the same height as a regular bottom 2x4 rail should go. Not at all what we agreed to or paid extra for. So I asked for my money back and would only pay for the difference in cost of the 2x6 and the 2x4. He said it didn’t work like that. He claimed that he had to run across town day off and find 2x6s and that justified the extra cost. To me that’s a BS excuse and just shows poor planning on his part. He acted like 2x6s are some difficult board to find. They are literally one of the most common treated boards found at every big box store. Ultimately after several conversations and him not being able to justify charging us extra because no extra work was done, he agreed to refund half. So I’ll give him some credit for that. The last thing that really upset and the reason for the lengthy review is that he straight up lied to me. I asked him they were going to use hot dipped galvanized nails for the pickets and he said he said yes.He clearly lied to me. The majority of my cedar pickets have black streaks running from all the nails. He used fanaco elctrogalvanzied nails. Which are zinc coated. It looks horrible. I added pickets about a week after because pickets to cover the backside of the postmasters was not included and he said they had to be installed a certain way before the front pickets were placed and was extra. I found this odd because they are literally designed to be concealed. I installed them after the fact no problem. I used hotdipped nails and have zero bleeding from them. As a 15 year fence builder you would think he would use the correct fastner. I refuse to believe he doesn’t know. He chooses to use them, either out of convenience or to save a buck.

I DID NOT GET WHAT I PAID FOR. HIRED ANTHONY TO PUT GATE IN MIDDLE IF FENCE. WORKERS WANTED TO PUT GATE IN CORNOR WHERE ACCES WOULD BE DIFFICULT. ITD HIM NO IN MIDDLE. WORKER DID WHAT HE WANTED AND PUT GATE IN CORNER. MESSED UP FENCE HE CONNECTED TO GATE TO TIGHT AND I CUT MY HAND WHEN I TRY TO OPEN GATE. ANGIE LIST YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. TONY FINALLY SHOWED UP THEY SPENT AN HOUR TRYING TO PLUM CROOKED POST AND RAILS THEY INSTALLED. THEN TOLD ME I SHOULD BE HAPPY GETTING WHAT I GOT. I FELT THREATENED BY THIS BULLY. AND NOW I NEED A FENCE REPAIRMAN TO FIX THE HORRABLE WORK THIS BULLYS LABORS DID. I WAS STILL TRYING TO GEY IT WORKED OUT WHEN ANTH[LONY WALKED OFF TELLING ME I BETTER PAY THE WORKERS THE BALANCE. I WAS AFRAID THEY WOULD HURT ME AFTER THE BAD THINGS THEY WERE SAYING ABOUT ME IN SPANISH.

The company profile on Angie's List says free estimates. Anthony charged me $95 but said that it would be taken off the job if I hired him. His technician came out and said that the new circuit board I had purchased needs to be re-programmed. I sent him the contact/tech information from the company from whom I bought it. When I called back, Anthony said it was too old and they couldn't work on it. I told him that his technician said he could. I called back a few days later, and Anthony said they could do the job for $245. I asked about the $95, and he said that it was already deducted. I told him I wanted to hire him. His company profile on Angie's List said they take all credit cards and PayPal. Now he told me to pay by sending him a check (no credit card) before they came out to do the job. I told him I would pay him when the job was finished. He insisted on the money up front and I told him that best business practice is to pay upon satisfactory completion. He told me that he would not finish the job and would not refund my $95, I reminded him that I am an Angie's List Gold member and that a bad review is not something he would want. He told me "go ahead, I don't care". So, here is a scathing review. DO NOT USE THIS UNSCRUPULOUS Company

After calling 5 company's.. only 2 show up. We hired this business 2 weeks later my fence was completed to my satisfaction both my neighbors hired them after they saw my new fence. Anthony was very knowledgeable about everything gave me 2 different ideas and they even clear some brush for free.. I'm very impressed with their service and quality. I would hired them to stain my fence later. I recommend this business if you want good affordable service.. thank you guys.

Overall rating 1.75; Likely to recommend - No Professional – 1.0 We chose STXF because they accepted credit cards. When I paid (in full upfront) the owner, Mr. Camacho, offered to reimburse me $100 of the $197 PayPal service fee. He told me he was unable to discount it on the transaction but would reimburse me in cash when the job was complete. He also indicated that he would do the cap & trim on the neighbor side of the fence (18ft) at no charge in exchange for reviews on 5 websites that he would give me after the work was completed in hopes that they would earn a 5 rating. After the work was completed, he denied it and said he “does this every day and has never said that and will just reply that way to the review”. Expertise – 1.0 Once the work was complete, I asked a few questions to determine what to expect (Does cedar expand or shrink? Is there a period in which I should consider a gate adjustment? Is a sealant/weatherproofing recommended for cedar and if so what period?) Mr. Camacho replied, “I don’t know, I don’t know wood. I just build fences.” Quality workmanship – 3.0 The final product looks good however; this did not come w/out challenges. There were several boards splintered and with cracks. Mr. Camacho disagreed with me on some of the pickets I wanted to exchange even saying to me as I explained my concerns “Are you finished, can I talk now”. Eventually we marked the pickets needing replacement together (approximately two panels). Both Mr. Camacho and one of his crew were extremely rude to me after this took place. Productive and efficient – 2.0 Day 1 the crew worked 11:15 – 2:20 removing old fence and cement new posts; Day 2 the crew worked 10:30 – 5:30. Although they finished the work in a timely manner, I do not think it was appropriate that they removed items from my neighbors curb (bulky item pick up) and brought them to my yard so they could take with them. Day 1 they had a lawnmower in my front yard and day 2 a couch.

He gave me two quotes 1) repair 2) replace. I called several other companies and most would only give me a quote to replace. I did not think I needed to replace the entire fence and wanted the option to just repair. Communication was awesome, he is professional, courteous and prompt. He does quality work and I would definitely hire him again!

Anthony Camacho has installed fences and gates for me at several investment properties and I'm always amazed at how quickly his guys get the work done. He uses larger than standard posts for gates, thicker than standard fence pickets, sinks posts down farther, and overall maintains great quality while getting done before I expect. I often get several competing bids and his usually comes in as one of the cheapest.

Anthony promptly came and gave an estimate for the work and explained what materials he'd use. He gave me a quote the same day and was able to schedule the work within the next week. He even sent me a few pictures of gates he had installed so I could see the style beforehand. His price was $200 less than the other quotes, and the fence looks beautiful. His crew did a great job cleaning up afterward and hauling off the old fence--I would hire them again!

Anthony at South Texas Fence Co just completed a privacy fence at our house and we are very pleased with his work. He was very responsive and came out to give us a quote quickly. He and his crew installed about 215 ft of privacy fence in a day and a half. Price beat other competitors by about 15%. Very pleased with the end result. Will recommend to family and friends.

Let me tell you. from start to end of the process they keep their promises. im glad we hire them. my fence looks great, im 100% satisfied. our fence was stained too and it looks great. I Recomend South Texas Fence to Everyone.. Great Service. We will hire them on the future to build a concrete patio in our backyard.

The result was perfect. The fence is great, I love the way it looks and he nailed the design to a t. Although, we were penciled out for two weeks, when our date came, he was here and did the job in an amazing two days. He left the work area clean. I have three dogs and was concerned of nails and wood debri getting in their paws, but I worried unnecessarily. The fence borders a swimming pool and he took all necessary precautions to make sure no work product, such as sawdust, got in the pool. As a layperson, just looking at the fence, I saw a excellent final work product with no concerns on the quality, so you can imagine my surprise when a week later Anthony and an employee of his are in my backyard. I go outside to see what is going on, and he tells me that he wanted to touch up a few things he felt could be better. Who does that!! What owner of a company goes back to a job site that is paid in full, has no complaints, to simply put some final touches on things he believed could be better? Not to mention that he was doing this on his day off. I don't know many owners that go to the job sites themselves AND do so on their own accord, AND on a Sunday. Anthony showed me how much integrity he has and how much pride he takes in his work. This process was excellent from start to finish. I highly recommend Anthony and South Texas Fence, there is no need to look any further. I will post pictures soon showing the quality and unique details of the fence.

The initial fencing job was a pleasant experience with a quick estimate, reasonable quotes and finished in under the estimated time. Due to this pleasant experience, we decided to hire them for exterior painting. However, while the workers did a good job, I was displeased with Anthony's service. I was told by Anthony he would "match the color of the garage & front doors as best as he could". I expected a better match than cream where it used to be tan. When I questioned him on the color choice he indicated I didn't provide him a sample (I had already explained when we put the deposit down that I didn't have a sample...hence, the matching discussion). I was out-of-town during the job and could not supervise or voice an opinion on the final color choice, but I called him once I received pictures of the house. Anthony argued with me about the color and said to me "...do you even remember what the original color was!?". Of course I did since I built the house and lived in it for over 19 years. Respect, integrity and customer service are big on my list, so I will not refer this company any longer, but will give a few stars for the quality of the work which was done by his crew. Additionally, my husband had to purchase more paint, the crew didn't arrive until 11:00 and were expected at 9am and we had to pick up their lunch since Anthony was not on site. I might have considered a reprieve for Anthony when my husband said he wanted to come by on Wed after the paint job when I was back in town and correct any issues. No call, no show and no apology. I expected more from this company. Very disappointing experience.

I couldn't be more satisfied

Terrible. South Texas Fence provided poor quality work, I'll fitting fence latches, fence sits high off the ground. I had to call Tony Camacho several times and eventually did not return my calls. Why should he? He had already scammed me.

Provider did the work we agreed would be done using materials we had agreed would be used. The workers were quiet and complied with our request to not smoke on the property.  No loud music was played.  No cursing. The provider explained to the workers what work needed to be done and the workers got right to work.  We did not need to explain to each crew what they needed to do.  

The provider checked the work for quality and completeness. We did not need to be involved if something needed a touch-up - the provider handled it with his inspections.  When the provider approved the work, we looked it over and gave our approval. Several trades were involved in the variety of work we requested and the provider managed all of it.
The provider handled getting all city permits and questions from the city on the work and materials. Provider was knowledgeable in what work needed permits and what to provide on the application for permits.

Work was completed in a timely manner.

South Texas Fence say what they'll do and do what they say! After doing due diligence went with Anthony Comacho and South Texas Fence for warranty and competiveness. Warranty because they stand behind their work if the 4X4 integrity is good and able to withstand the new material. The other bids sought to remove and replace which didn't seem necessary to is. Our 4X4's had great integrity and so we moved forward with our existing 4x4's with the new material. Quality work, materials and staff. We are very pleased with the work and will use Anthony Comacho and South Texas Fence again.

Everything went well. My only complaint is that Tony didn't call me the day after the estimate to schedule the job like he said he would.
I called him a couple of days later and he gave me a scheduled date. His crew showed up on that date and removed the old  two-rail fencing and posts. They installed new posts in concrete with three-rails and new cedar pickets. The work performed was excellent and was done the same day.

I was very pleased with the work and they changes they made to the side yard. The work crew was very efficient and the clean up was well done.

they came to work in my fence Tuesday 07/14/2015 remove and dispose the old fence and put new metal post in ground with concrete. he took care of putting a temporary fence for my neighbor in the right for their pets.
next day they finish the installation of my new fence Board on Board style and stained. very nice work and professional.

Anthony built several fences for me back when I was buying houses in 2004-2006.  Around 2009 I noticed all the fences he did were falling apart because none of the 2X4's were treated.  In other words, they were for interior use.   Around 2012 I was really mad because I had to start rebuilding them so I call Anthony to see if he would warranty his work.  He said he wouldn't warranty his work "because sometimes customers request different kinds of wood for the fences"!!!!!!!!!   So I guess it is common for customers to request that interior wood be used on his fences and he couldn't remember if I had requested the interior wood but he was going to assume that I had.  WOW!

Upon completion of the fence Anthony Camacho asked me to go to the back and see his work. I noticed that there was a board that had been cut around a tree limb and that tree limb was sticking outside of my fence. Also because of the tree two other planks had been cut around this tree. I immediately asked him why he would do that. I immediately told him that looked terrible. I asked him "who told him to do that". Since my neighbor and I were sharing the cost I thought maybe he had discussed this with my neighbor or maybe with my husband who was working at the time. All he said was because we moved the fence back a few inches, the tree was in the way and "we don't cut trees". The tree wasn't in the way when he started the job. Because he moved the fence back, now the tree was in the way. I paid him the balance of the money I owed him, which shame on me for doing that even though I was not satisfied. After checking with my husband and neighbor, no one had approved those ridiculous cuts in our fence. No one had been contacted letting us know that this was going to be done. No one told us that the fence was going to be moved back and because of that, the tree will be in the way. No one addressed that with us. So we paid $2000.00 and I have a fence with a hole and a tree limb sticking out of it. Also have an uneven rail that looks horrible. And two additional planks cut. All because someone couldn't have taken 2 minutes to notify us that the tree would now be in the way and have given us the opportunity to decide what we were going to do. My neighbor and myself were home all day while the fence was being put up. I cannot imagine that we would not have been contacted before this was done. By the time I noticed, the job had been completed. I would not have excepted Anthony to cut the tree. Of course not, but I would have expected him to notify me of this before making those crazy cuts around the tree and OH BY THE WAY, it was totally his decision to move the fence back. We didn't tell him to do that. Now because of a decision that he made, we have the crazy looking fence that we just paid $2000.00 for. I trusted him, I was pleased when we met him, but I should've known better. I was calling numerous quotes, some came in higher than his quote, but I got a couple that was lower. But I went with him because I thought he sounded honest and thought he was sincere about customer service, but now I know that isn't so! He told me that he never leaves a job site until the customer is satisfied. Not a true statement! We are very disappointed in his work and his customer service. We tried working this out with him but he just tells us that if we want him to come back, then there will be an additional charge. So upsetting and frustrating... and we thought that going through Angies List to select a contractor this time would be good because we have had bad experiences in the past.... Well, that didn't work. So sad!

Everything went great and he installed the mail box within about 5 minutes.  I would recommend him.
