Mr. Sheets wrote out an estimate and told me $7800 and he will get all the materials, and for me just to get shower fixtures and sink fixtures, which I did. He demolitioned the bathroom and hired flooring guys without my permission, and paid them on the side (I am sure alot less then he was charging me). Five days later he showed back up, and asked me if I was ready to go and purchase the glass shower door, my response was why would I need to go? He replied so I can pay for the door. I said no sir, and that he was suppose to purchase everything for the remodel of a small bathroom and charged me $7800. He also refused to show me the estimate that he wrote out initially. He did not do anything but complete a demolition of the bathroom by removing a toilet and tub. And he took $7400 of my money. I am furious as both my husband and I are disabled veterans and he took advantage of us. I will pursue this to the highest court just out of the principal. I am left with an unfinished bathroom, toilet seat in my room. He slammed the door on his way out. He is nothing but a thief, he knows very little about remodeling and sub-contracts everyone else for the job. Karma works in mysterious ways. He didn’t do the job and took the money. So we I fired him. Just for future, do not pay your contractor unless they finished the job, if they are truly a legit company they would have operating capital. I will file a complaint with the city and licensing board, if he even has a license.

He didn’t do the job and took the money.  So we fired him.  He was supposed to put a room on.  He sent out the cement trucks but they wanted cash to do the work because he hadn’t paid them.  He told them that I would pay them.  His price was fair and reasonable if he had done the work.  It wasn’t the lowest or the highest.  He had a lot of charisma and was very believable and that was why we went with him.  There wasn’t any response.  His punctuality was terrible.

I had a water leak that effected my foundation of my home and our restroom. I could not find anyone who would help. They were either to busy or would not deal with our insurance claim. Mr. Sheets came to the rescue. He not only fixed our peer and beam foundation, but made it better. He put in cement beams. My restroom is so pretty. He updated it with tile. I use to have a vinyl floor. He worked with my insurance company and even came down on his price so that I would not have any added expense. Once the job began he was always in contact with me about the progress. Moving the foundation caused cracks in the walls, they fixed them and painted everything. When we returned it was like come home to a new house.

I had to move from my home to a suite because the restroom was being worked on, it is our only one. We had to leave our pets in the house. Although I visited twice a day, I have to say that he took care of our pets. Which means a lot, they are part of my family.

We enjoyed working with James. He has been very nice, courteous of our time away from home,  I will be using him again for other projects in our older home.

Because my townhome was under contract for sale and I was 1 wk from closing, it was necessary that everything be addressed as quickly as possibly The water/mold damage from my neighbor's leak was undetectable to either of us until that bedroom was empty of heavy furniture which was against the wall concealing both the small area of mold on the wall and any odor, all water had gone under the flooring in both units.

My neighbor experienced the most inconvenience during all the mold remediation as they were without a kitchen, everything was gutted except for the upper cabinets. My home was by then empty, with all my belongings in storage.

I began looking for contractors to start the build back as soon as possible after the all clear was given by EPA. I needed to have everything done correctly , especially the structural work , firewall, etc.. I found few contractors who could even schedule appointments for the estimate quickly and most who came honestly told me that they could not start the work for 1-2 wks and most likely wouldn't be able to have everything done for 2-3 wks minimum.

Part of the problem became apparent early on when contractors who did come to see both units , as the work to rebuild the structural portion and firewall would need to occur from my neighbors side and would involve removing his remaining upper cabinets and wall. He was going to do his rebuild on a longer timeline than mine and planned to do much of the work himself with assistance from family member who is a contractor. He also was very reluctant to have his upper cabinets removed and of course wanted them replaced without any damage to them.

When Jim Sheets came to give me an estimate on May 22nd, he was the 3rd contractor who stressed the importance of doing the structural work correctly with the required permits, the need to take down my neighbor's upper cabinets , to correctly anchor both our firewalls . And all acknowledged that the approach through neighbors kitchen would save tear out of my bathroom which had not been necessary for the mold remediation. And because bathroom tear out wasn't necessary for the mold remediation, my insurance was not going to pay for that approach and any build back for it.

Mr. Sheets was very knowledgeable and understood the urgency in having my build back completed as soon as possible. He advised that he was available to start the following week and that he could have the work completed in 10 days.

After making the decision to hire him and realizing that his estimate and what my insurance was allowing for completion of the work was approx. $5-6 K apart, I discussed this with him and he promised he would work with both me and adjustor to get my work done on my available funds from insurance. And when over the following days it became very apparent to me that the approach through my neighbors kitchen was going to cause more strife and not going to be the most expedient way for the work to be done.......I made the very painful and expensive decision to have all the work done through my bathroom . And that meant tearing it out and complete rebuild . We were able to save the tub, toilet, light fixtures, towel bars, med cabinet, but though care was taken, unfortunately everything else had to be replaced.

Mr Sheets and his crew started work May 29 and everything was completed by June 6th. I am now trying to get my insurance adjustor to work with me on reimbursement for the added cost of the approach through my bathroom in order to get the structural /firewall done correctly. I do not regret the decision to go this way as I did not want to be responsible for possible damage to my neighbor's upper cabinets. And because my neighbor was not going to hire his own contractor and preferred to do his rebuild on his own timeline, I know that my decision saved me valuable time.

My realtor and my buyer;s realtor worked out a short term lease for my buyer, who was moving from out of state. She was living in the back part of the home during the build back and was able to select tile and paint colors, flooring colors. She is very satisfied with the build back and we are closing the sale June, 10th, 2014.

Mr. Sheets and his crew were on site everyday during those 9 days except for Sunday, I know that everything was done correctly and I would not hesitate to use Mr. Jim Sheets again for any building or remodeling. And he prepared for me an itemized list of the bathroom tear out and rebuild costs, explaining why that approach for the structural work was most reasonable and expedient for my situation. I am very hopeful that my insurance adjustor will see fit to reimburse me for a reasonable portion of it .

Mr Sheets saved my sale and I will always be grateful!

James was hired by my neighbor behind me to replace the fence between our back yards. I was impressed with the work, and my neighbor recommended them, so I had them replace the rest of my fence. James was very helpful and did some extra things without charging me for them. He got the fence properly lined up, even though the ground was not level. His emplyees were very pleasant and good workers who were not bothered by the friendliness of my two dogs. The fence looks great, and it will look even better after they have stained it. You may find less expensive companies, but Sheets Construction's work is a very good example of getting what you pay for. i am very pleased with their work, and I would highly recommend them.

I called Jim Sheets from Sheets Construction and Remodeling and asked for a quote to paint my home. Jim came by at the agreed time and provided the quote. He brought by his painter and we went through all the rooms that we wanted painted. He provided the quote, and we were happy with it. He brought his painters over on the agreed day to start painting. His painting crew was very professional and each took extra care to ensure cleanliness. Jim mentioned that the work required 5 days, but they were able to complete it in 4. His crew constantly assured us that they the job would not be considered complete unless we were very satisfied. The crew moved necessary furniture and covered all fixtures and floors. The crew was very friendly, courteous, and prompt every day. Jim came by daily to check on the work and always asked if we were happy throughout the duration of the project. On the last day (day 4), the crew finished early, but stayed approx. 3 hours extra going through each room to touch up the smallest details. I do need to stress that I am critical with cleanliness, and attention to detail. Sheets Construction and Remodeling did an outstanding job. They are efficient, professional and focus highly on the quality of their work. I would highly recommend Sheets construction and Remodeling to anyone who needs new construction, remodeling or painting services.

We recently were in a real pinch trying to sell a house within a short deadline and needed to make some repairs to satisfy the buyer. It quickly became obvious that we would not be able to get the work done on our own. Mr. Sheets, who was recommended to us as a general contractor by a neighbor, was a true life-saver. He helped us with HVAC and roof repairs and brought in excellent masons and an outstanding electrician, all of whom did a great job in a very short time. We were able to close the sale on time and the buyer was very pleased with the work. In addition to the excellent work that was done, we greatly appreciated the fact that Mr. Sheets was always prompt, friendly, and easy to deal with, and we would highly recommend him.
