Robare Custom Homes has built my wife and I, a magnificent home on our property in Comal county.
  Everyone in Mike Robare's organization is intelligent, funny, nice to be around, honest, insightful, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. They will become your friends during the building process if you let them.
  The standards that are the basis of the construction of anything that was executed on our property were high.
 I would go so far as to say that Robare Custom Homes set the standard.
    The level of craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail is truly amazing. We got the feeling that they were building our home as if they were going to reside in it themselves. Even the driveway is a work of art--absolutely beautiful.
   Mike and his team spent an enormous amount of time with us initially to find out exactly what kind of home we would like. The bank draw request schedule is handed to you before any construction begins and shows the percentage being drawn and what is left.
     During our building process, this schedule was followed with no surprises and no issues.

After moving to San Antonio, we found the perfect lot in the Hill Country to build our dream home. To build our custom home we interviewed a number of Custom Home Builders and attended numerous "Parade of Home" tours. As a result of a previous bad experience with building a home, we were very particular and extremely critical in our evaluations of potential custom home builders.
   Mike Robare offered the very best attributes we were seeking in our builder, i.e. someone who would listen to our ideas and visions for what we wanted and then provide the custom designer elements and building expertise to see it completed.
   Working with our vision and Mike's Custom Home Designer Mike helped us develop a house plan that captured all the elements we were looking for in our custom home.  During this design process, Mike was instrumental in adding specific features to the plan that truly makes this home unique. For example, Mike suggested adding an amazing 25 foot stone tower entryway.
   In working with Mike throughout the building process, he constantly suggested improvements in the design to capture unique features. From custom ceiling treatments to the circular stone staircase, Mike's vision created an amazing house.
   Overcoming the inherent challenges of building a custom home is Mike's greatest strength.  Design problems that caused me sleepless nights he solved with eloquent remedies.  He was always available to help and effectively communicated with us and the construction teams to make sure our vision was implemented correctly.
  We have had numerous people tour our home and they all comment on the quality of the workmanship and the design aspects.  We have recommended Mike to a number of people planning to build homes.
  After our house was completed, we still communicate with Mike and seek his guidance and recommendations on design elements.  He and his team were great to work with and made the building process a fun and exciting adventure!  Highly recommend!

Robare Custom Homes can deliver a very good result in a custom home. But what they fail to comprehend is that the Experience for the home owner needs to be very good as well. Extensive delays, unkept appointments, and failure to respond to calls and texts amounted to a frustrating experience. Slow responses by subcontractors for punch items like sewer backups into our home and incomplete installation of the heating system created a miserable experience for what could have been a celebration of moving into our dream home. Mike Robare, the owner, has great intentions when it comes to custom home building but his employees and certainly his subcontractors lack his commitment to the final result.

From working with the plan designer to the final move-in  and after, everyone that worked on our home made it a fun experience. This is not to say that there were no problems because there was an occasional glitch, but everything was quickly resolved and always better than I ever expected. I was shocked to see negative responses on Angie's list and  felt compelled to respond our story. Mike Robare and his crews were great.

I am now able to use my entire new homes plumbing after fixing it myself. No thanks to Mike Robare and Robare Custom Homes.
I do not recommend Robare Custom Homes in Helotes, TX. Robare Custom Homes had many requests and opportunities to make it right and he didn't.
Very unsatisfying home building experience. His choice of sub contractors is probably the reason for such poor quality in plumbing, but he is the one responsible for making those decisions and his professional reputation rides on whether or not he backs up his home building. He did not in our case.

Mr. Robare was in the process of initiating his other business UBuildit, and ended up devoting his time to the new business and his project for the Parade of Homes. He had just hired a new superintendent that did not have experience building custom homes whom he assigned to us. Mr. Robare did not visit the site on a weekly basis to check on the progression of the house, even when the back porch ceiling fell. He may have visited the house 4 times, 3 of those being when we were coming out of town to check up on it. As a result of his inattention, we are confronting some problems that could have easily been resolved if he had been on the premises even once a week and noticed the problem.
