Shoe Repair
It took about two weeks to complete the job, the first time around. Picked up the boots and the workmanship looked acceptable. After about two months I noticed the heals were wearing quicker than expected. On the third month of having the boots there was a noticeable separation of the neoprene heals and the leather heal. I brought the boots back explaining the problem and he said he would fix the problem. During the inspection with the proprietor holding the boots the neoprene was removed from the heal with no effort or struggle. There was obviously not enough glue to hold the neoprene sole to the heal. Just a quick note: I bought the Chippewa boots about four years ago and never had a problem with the product, but eventually the soles had to be replaced. I'm not rough with foot wear and take care of expensive boots. The original neoprene soles lasted longer than the three months after repairs made by Rilling Shoe repair. I wear the boots sparingly so as to get a longer life out of the boots.
So, we agreed there was a problem with the installation of the neoprene soles and he would repair the boots without any additional costs. We also agreed that shoe tacks would also be installed to insure the neoprene soles would not separate from the heal. I received a phone call a few days later, May 21, 2014, stating that he could not do the repairs without additional costs. I went to the shop to discuss the issue and he would not do the repairs as planned. I asked him to put the boots back to gather with more glue and we would call it a day.
I will never go back to this shore repair store again. Others may have a great experience, but the end result is not worth the money or time for a pair of $300. pair of boots to be repaired with sloppy work.
I will pick up the boots later today and will make another review in retrospect to this review.

I wear orthopedic shoes, and after hip surgery I had nerve damage and didn't have feeling in my foot so I couldn't wiggle my toes. I wasn't able to put my shoe on, so Art Grasso put a leather loop on the back of my shoe. He then suggested using a boot hook to pull the shoe on. I had never heard of a boot hook! It's a very sturdy steel hook used for pulling on cowboy boots --- sold in pairs. The boot hook works great! I can get my shoe on the front part of my foot, then I put the boot hook in the leather loop and pull my shoe right on! Thank you, Art, for suggesting the use of the boot hook! They say you can't put a price on something important, but for a total cost of $20, I'm independent!

I brought the boots in not knowing what could be done, and he explained several different ways we could fix them. I chose to have new soles put on to make them less slippery and keep the toes from wearing while I walked. When I picked them up, they really looked like new again. They were polished and the soles and heels were done very well. The shoes were a more "normal" repair and also looked great. They were ready when promised, which was a bit of a wait, but completely worth it. I will definitely be returning with other shoes in the future.
