Sunroom and Patio Service, Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel + 1 more
After George Cortez, owner of Redcoat remodeling, quoted a price he came back and said he made a mistake but would not ask us to pay the extra, but instead he cut his services that were agreed upon without even discussing it with us. He did not paint the areas that were part of the service price, just left bare wood and walked away. He installed a dishwasher and did it incorrectly with the water lines and it caused a flood in my kitchen under the sink which in turn caused the ceramic tile in the kitchen floor to crack and pop up and when I asked him what we were going to do to remedy the damage he shrugged his shoulders and walked away and told me the tiles were already cracked before that, which was not true because this was a home purchase and the cracked tile would have been discovered during the home inspection. He also did a poor job installing the patio cover because it leaks every time it rains - where the patio cover meets the roof line. Our patio furniture gets wet. What's the use of having a patio cover if your stuff is going to get wet. His day laborer incorrectly framed in the patio for us to screen in and when we told Cortez he would have to correct it before we paid him for the job, he accused us of not having the money to pay him. We have called him numerous times to come out and remedy the patio cover and he keeps saying he will be out but never comes. We are at the point where we no longer want him to step foot on our property. Back in the year 2000 he did another kitchen remodel job for us. I had found him in the yellow pages. He put in a new ceramic tile kitchen counter for us in a different house. By the time we sold the house the counter top had begun sagging in. The tile floor he installed on the same initial job immediately began losing grout. I did not realize it at the time until this new job went so poorly, but it was due to his poor workmanship. He basically had no portfolio of his work, he just brought a handful of pictures to show. Definitely not professional and I would caution anyone before hiring him.
