Quality Custom Decks

The initial engagement, planning and contracting stages all went fine. They offered the best price and gave us a cool design. They said they'd start the work in 4-6 weeks. After 4 weeks, they hadn't started and they were completely unresponsive to inquiries. I had to call and email every contact I had, including the initial salesman who had nothing to do with the construction. For the next 4 weeks, it was like pulling teeth to get any information or response from them. When they were done, they built a good, quality deck that we are satisfied with. Just wish the process was quicker and had a better communication flow. If you have the time, they'll do a good job....eventually.

The people who work for this company are horrible. I contracted with them to begin work on Sept. 11th. Here it is Sept. 27th and all I have to show for it is a frame and no idea when the job will be done because, according to Chris, Will screwed up and didn't order my decking. This company is full of people that throw each other under the bus. Chris blames Will for the messing up the schedule/order, Mike the sales rep blames Chris and Will in operations, Will blames Supply Chain issues (which is funny since he didn't order it.) and Chris blames Mike for "promising clients the world." No accountability. Geno, the owner, called me yelling and calling me a liar when this whole issue is because his employee's actions. Most unprofessional company I've dealt with. I strongly recommended looking for another vendor. I have filed a BBB complaint and exploring further options since this company obviously has no regard for their customers.

Went very well. Deck design by Mike Jaskowski was the best out of all the builders contacted and fit the overall theme and footprint that we wanted. There costs for composite were lower than the cost of wood from the other builders contacted. Started quickly once we agreed to contract and, because our design was simple, finished in four days.

Very professional first meeting with Mike as he drew out the draft of the design very precisely from our descriptions of what we would like to have built. The process of the project and construction was explained very well and we signed an addendum for additional staining. Lumber showed up and then contractor showed up when they said he would. Contractor was very professional and sometimes worked until 7:00 PM to finish up different phases of project. We did have some rain days where they couldn't build, but overall the process and build went along with what Mike explained at our first meeting. The contractor also did a great job building around our spa and incorporating special removable flooring in order to access the spa pumps and drain plug areas. We are going to use them again for another project for a grill and shaded seating area on the other side of our house. Highly recommended!

I interviewed 5 deck builders I had met at the home show. All had great ideas that i used and compared and Mike was able to help me put my vision in to action the best. This is the second deck I have had QCD build for me and have been happy with the work completed each time. Josh is the scheduling manager and he was helpful and responsive. A few days after the job was complete, I noticed a few areas that had split or cracked, I let QCD know and they came out and replaced everything no questions asked.

It went well. There were a few issues they had to come back and take care of, but they did that very quickly.

I had to call Mike Jaskowski several times and leave messages before he would return mine. After several days he finally contacts me via email with the wrong contract which included both sides of the fence. He told me he had to redo the contract to reflect just the back fence. I was very clear that for the moment I was going to do just the rear fence. Again more chasing around with phone calls with no replys. Finally today 4/29/2015 (after two weeks of chasing him with calls) he answers. He says the the job is too small for Quality Custom Decks and Fence and that the minimum is $2,000. He never said this at the beginning or was this ever an issue in the past. Quality Custom did my deck and never honored thier so called 5 year warranty for some planks that started warping and cracking, and yes the the deck was stained immediately after installation. I have chased them around for this issue as well. IT SEEMS THAT I WASN'T WORTH THEIR TIME. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE NOR RECOMMEND THESE PEOPLE.

Took a while to complete as the installers were leaving early and sometimes not showing up for a day or two.  But, once they finished it was beutiful.   I did have some issues with a few areas and it took a few months to get someone to come out and fix the problem.  They had a change in customer service management recently and the new manager immediately scheduled an appointment and fixed every issue on the spot.  That impressed me!

Dennis looked at the arbor and agreed that it had issues.  A two man crew came out, demolished the defective part of the arbor one afternoon and the next day reconstructed the arbor using a different design to insure the problem would not reoccur. Thanks for honoring your warranty QCD and Dennis for all your help!

If you like having to harrass companies to get them to finish a job- then these guys are for you. For starters... Do NOT give them your CC number. They charged the final amount almost a week before the deck was "completed".
The deck took over a month to complete: This was due to a few rainy days but mostly because the guys kept running out of material. It would be days before the would show up again. We ended up having to leave for vacation for 2 weeks. Josh PROMISED he himself would do the final walk through and make sure everything was perfect then charge the final payment. Well- we have security cameras and we noticed they charged us the final payment so we checked and the deck was not done. I sent Josh an email and he promised it would be complete the next day when we came back home. They did a mediocre job on the "finish" the bench- it looks cheap and was unstable (mind you we are 15 feet up from the ground). They left off a ton of pieces and to top it off they didnt install the correct railing that we paid $800 extra for. Apparently they will be refunding that money. Who knows if I believe him.
That was October 9th. We had to call, and email many times to get them to come back out- today they just "finished" all of their errors.
The decided to use our outdoor dining table as a saw bench- and left the entire deck and table covered in saw dust. The driveway was also left with a ton of composite pieces all over it. The guys left the place a disaster.Who knows if we will ever see our $800- but I HIGHLY recommend not giving them any banking info to charge you until you are 100% happy. Like their contract SAYS they will do.
These guys also sub contract out to people so you aren't really getting the people you expect to be and you have no idea how good of a job they will do. Wouldnt use them again.

We are very pleased with the deck and arbor. They experienced some initial delay with the strict permit requirements of our community. They resolved the requirements and began the build. Our community inspectors noted build issues along the way, but Quality Custom Decks responded to each inspection until the project was complete to the inspector and my satisfaction. Their work crew kept me in the loop during the build process to clarify questions, their front office was great to work with and they made a modification at the end, at my request, at a reasonable cost. The final cost came in at the price we had expected. I was very pleased with this company and would certainly use them in the future.

Bottom line... I couldn't be happier.  First we dealt with Mike J. who walked us thru the structure, costs, etc.  Second came Josh who faciliated the coordination for the build... and then came Matt who did the actual build.  Yes, there were some delays, but they were minimal and beyond the control of the folks at Quality Decks.  The deck was 99% finished on Monday, 30 Sep, and as I've watched it being built... I can simply say that Matt (the person who actually built the deck) certainly knows his business when it comes to Composite decks.  The cost of composite is significantly higher due to many factors, but it lasts and is guarenteed for significantly longer.  The composite is absolutely beautiful (Evergrain) and certainly gives a very nice appearance.  I must say that Quality Decks exceeded our highest expectations and I would most certainly recommend that if you are interested in a Composite deck (also highly recommended) that you turn to Quality Decks.  Always expect delays, weather, etc., but also expect only the highest in quality construction... which I most certainly got from Quality Decks.  Recommended:... ABSOLUTELY.

They did excellent work.  I thought the staining was included but it wasn't so I had to find someone else.  I wish I had know up front, otherwise they did a great. 

when the deck was finished (One end of the deck is 14 feet off the
ground) the deck swayed and felt as if it were going to fall down (The deck beams needed to have lateral braces).  We
called the office they came out looked at it, agreed is seemed unstable,
tore out the entire deck.  (A point worth noting here, we were
extremely happy with the fit and finish of the deck at this point and
had scheduled the contractor to stain the deck.)  They sent a new person
out to rebuild the deck, 2 months later we were asking almost daily
when our deck would be finished.    The workman they sent out finally
declared one day he was done...  The deck looked terrible, the deck
boards were installed with the cupped side up, the fit and finish looked
a grade a school-er had performed the job.  The skirting in areas
stopped a foot above ground level.  We attempted to contact Quality
Custom Decks and they told us there was nothing they could do.  Be very
very careful if you use these people.

The process was fast and painless.The plans were modified by us midway through and they still finised on time.

The arbor is beautiful.  I have experienced some issues with the design however, but Quality Custom Decks is standing by their quality. It's great to deal with a company that is on the up and up and stands by their product.

The work was excellent. There was some times where they changed the price on me. That wasn't so pleasant, but other than that the work was great.

They did the job very well, and provided quality work for thhe most part. We were in a time crunch (wanting it completed before the thanksgiving day celebrations) which I explained to Dennis and the crew actually doing the work and they did a great job of completeing the deck in a timely manner. Everyone who has seen the deck raves about how nice it is. You can trust Mike to help design a deck and Dennis' guys to build you on but you might have a little trouble with organization from the two, just not enough to earn my recomendation to anyone building a deck.

My wife and I had bought a new house and wanted to make a lot of modifications to the house, including replacing the 16-step deck currently on the house. We met Matt, representing Quality Decks, at a home show her in San Antonio and told him we were looking for a multiple-level deck with a small number of steps to each level. He said no problem and made an appointment to meet us at the new house the week after the home show was over. He arrived when promised and looked at our steep back yard, our home's configuration, listened to our comments and desires, and went to his truck with his design pad. No more than 10 minutes later he returned with a design that met all our requirements and more. Next came the price. He allowed us the home show special price as a cost basis and discounted the extra costs for the larger deck. Will add more later.

Overall, everything was excellent.  The guys, Miguel and his partner worked late hour to finish the deck on time.  Michael explained clearly the process from the beginning to the end.  I was able to keep scraps and they cleaned everything before they left.  I will recommend Quality Custom Decks anytime to anybody.  They save me over $1,000 on a new sprinkler system by marking all the holes for the posts prior to construction.  I an very satisfied.
