Premier Home Design

First visit was FANTASTIC, Hector is definitely sales person. Thereafter, he gave us a tentative date to begin, which began later than the date provide, we didn't mind as we were not in a rush. He told us he would have the lock box at our home prior to the beginning of the work which was not. I had to call him and text him several times and explained to him of my concerns about leaving my house key outside for his sub contractors to enter our home while we were working. Took him to about a week to comply. Upon the completion of our kitchen we noticed several stains on our custom made cabinets in which he and the cabinet maker (Jose) stated they would get it fixed. We even offered to pay the cabinet maker (Jose) for coming out to the a look at the stains and if he was not at fault we would pay him to get them touched up. As of today we have not heard back from either one of them. I have so many compliments on my cabinets overall, however I would not recommend either one. We also never received our windows, Hector told my husband the windows were stolen from his home and he suspected his son was involved and that he would replace them with a new order which would take a week for them to arrive. We have tried calling and texting on numerous occassions and we have not received a call or response to our text messages, nor have we received our windows. Other Subcontractors (demolition, granite, backsplash) were always punctual and hard working. They were the only ones who delivered on their promise and did a great job.

We hired Premier to do the work to turn the attic space into a small bathroom.  A list of things that went wrong:  job took 2 months longer than quoted, fixtures we bought and picked out were not the fixtures that ended up in the shower and on the vanity (what happened to the originals?  No explanation from Hector), painted the walls the wrong color, shower enclosure not plumb with tiles getting smaller and smaller as they near the floor, baseboards installed incorrectly and mitered incorrectly, hole for toilet cut in wrong place in flooring, line to toilet installed incorrectly so not enough pressure to flush fully, glass accent tiles in shower installed backwards (yes backwards).  In addition to these construction issues, phone calls weren't returned, appointments were missed, and Hector never came to the job site after the initial meeting for the quote.  I never saw a single construction permit although I was assured they had been approved.  
In addition, the worker who did most of the work (including the backward tile) often brought his wife and child to work with him.  I came home one day to find the wife sitting on our staircase.  Surprise!  Some of my jewelry went missing around that same time.  Although I have no proof it involved Premier, the fact that jewelry went missing, and the wife was in my house made me suspicious.  
The only shining light in the whole experience was their finish work guy.  He refused to do the finish work on the baseboards until they were installed correctly, and he did the outside work - restucco-ing the exterior and matching the paint.  I wish I could remember his name because he was a good guy who knew what he was doing.  

The day before the work began, 4x4 posts and 2x8 rafters were delivered to the back yard. When I went out to check the wood, the cracks in several of the pieces concerned me and I called Hector (the owner) and said that I thought at least six should be replaced. He said they don't "cherry-pick", but agreed to replace two of them.
Warm weather arrived in April and when we looked at our pergola,the wood had expanded in the heat, opening up the cracks that I had noticed the end of November.  Most distressing, the post on the end was pulling loose from the 2x4 and metal bracket. Nail heads were not only visible, but rusting.
When we turned on the sprinkler system, we found a sprinkler head encased in cement and finally had the sprinkler company come out to fix it.  Despite numerous messages to Hector to come out and look at the situation, he never returned my calls.
May 30, I decided to make one last call to get the bracket/post repaired. This time, Hector's voice mail box was full. I decided to call Mr. Esquida, the manager, who said he had relayed my message to Hector. Then he said, "As of last week, he's on his own, I don't work with him anymore."
We should have checked for references, but we didn't. I thought I would post the problems we had with Premier Home Design, along with pictures.
The last two pictures are of our twenty year old pergola, that they extended out. It is crack free, nail free, and has stood the test of time.

Hector was super nice and very accomodating to our schedules when coming out for the quote. Unfortunately after that, never saw him again. Had no way of contacting the workers to know what time and if they were working tha tday. Paint jobs looked great as well as the platform the worker built. He eas very thourough in the on the fly designs, which is something wecthoughtthe he copamny sho u ld have taken more part in.

Premier Home Design screened in an existing patio for me. They made it look as though it came with the house when it was built instead of an add on, down to the paint color, etc. They did an outstanding job and I have been so happy with the way it looks. I have had a lot of compliments and do not hesitate to let people know Premier Home Design did the job for me. I would certainly use them again. I also thought the price quoted was very reasonable compared to other companies I received estimates from.

Took longer than anticipated, but I kept adding to the project.  Overall experience was good.  Will use Sterling again to remodel my bathrooms.

When Hector gave us the estimate on 5/11/11 he made it seem good, however it did not turn out that way.  The job was suppose to take 1-3 weeks to finish but it took several months which was an inconvience since we had to have all our appliances out of the kitchen for them to do their work.  This meant we had to eat out alot and work around doing anything in our kitchen.  Hector was very hard to get a hold of after the first visit and never came to check on the subcontractors as they were doing the job. I had to repeatedly call him and complain about the work being done.  Most of the time I had to leave a message and it took him several days to return my calls.  I had to call the main office at least once to have them tell him to call me.  The individual they use to put the backsplash) on our kitchen wall did a horrible job.  He was putting broken and cracked tile on our walls and I had to tell him to take it off.  They had gone and bought more tile which was in the same condition and I had to go through each box to make sure the tile was good and it wasn't.  My husband and I finally ended up going to the tile store and spending two hours picking out the tile to put on our wall because we did not trust these guys anymore.  These guys were suppose to be the professionals but turned out to be amatures.  I could not believe how much babysitting I had to do with these people.  They never showed up on time and some time I had to call to find out if they were ever going to show up.   It took over a month for them to come and get their final payment.  I did not agree with the final payment but wanted to get them out of my house so I would not have to deal with them again.  Since, I paid them their final payment I have found other things that may have been done wrong  They did some electrical work in our attic area to accomodate the recessed lighting and a microwave over our stove.  The lights are not in protective covering and we are afraid it may catch the insulation on fire.  The outlet for the microwave is left open and exposed.  This just adds to the horrible job that was done by these guys.  If it turns out these areas are a safety hazard I may look into taking action against this company.  I would never hire this company again nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. The cost was not worth the headache we had to go through to get this job done.
