His bid was higher than the one we ended up going with. Overall, we were pleased with his approach and would try going with him on another project.
Description of Work: No service performed. He drove out of his way to come and give us an estimate. He did not have the equipment to fax or email us his written estimate; he dropped it off a week or so later.

Very nice customers,we had to grind down some roots that lifted one half section of their driveway at least 4-6" high . We matched the exposed agg. peagravel drive pretty close. This job had to be done with jackhammer ,that way the other section would not be damaged, which was in good condition.

The overall experience was excellent!
Description of Work: Noel did an excellent job on fixing our back patio. It was uneven and unsightly after the original contractor put it in. The water drained toward the house and pooled up in the middle. Noel fixed the pooling and draining issues as well as applied a wonderful texture and stain to the concrete. It's beautiful! We enjoy it everyday!

The concrete finish was in bad shape and the drainage was very bad. After smoothing out bad areas we textured then stained and sealed with colors picked by customer. Very nice and polite customers,i enjoyed fixing their problem.

Mr. Ramirez was at our house by 1:00pm with his crew to begin work on our sidewalks and porch. They started work immediately and worked until about 5:00pm. They were at our house by 9:30 the next day, and have been every day since. They work for 3 hours, take a break and go to lunch. They take about 1-1/2 hours for lunch but work constantly when they are here. They had the old sidewalk totally busted into manageable pieces by the end of the first full day. The second day it had been hauled off before their lunch break. Mr. Ramirez noticed 4 places that were potential drainage problems, discussed it with us both, and came up with a solution to fix the drainage WITHOUT saying those dreadful words "it will cost more". Within 1 week, they had the basic layout of the sidewalks and porch done. They were working on ground prep and drainage. It took him and his crew an extra two days to remove a tree stump and roots that weren't as rotten as we had hoped. He did not charge me extra for this, despite the extra time involved. By March 9, they were ready to pour the concrete. Due to impending inclimate weather, the concrete will not be poured until March 12th or 13th, weather dependent. The work was inspected by Code Compliance and passed without any issues. I have been provided a copy of the permit and the inspection report by Mr. Ramirez. I did check with Code Compliance to be sure it had been done. Mr. Ramirez and his crew work from Monday - Saturday.& are off on Sunday. I like that they take Sunday off for family. He came by today (3/11/12) to check on what needs to be re-done due to the rains. He knocked on my door and told me what he was doing, rather than wander around the yard without notification. I like that. He will have to do some extra dirt removal, but states it is minimal. He also told me that he was going to put in some more drainage in front of our porch, "just in case' so we won't have water pool on the sidewalks. He also is pouring a perimeter beam around our porch area in order to increase the load bearing capabilities of our porch (when we get it built). Mr. Ramirez is using the rebar he stated he would use, is wiring it together, has used those plastic thingies to keep the rebar from laying on the ground. So far, I paid him 1/3 down before he started, and owe another check tomorrow to purchase the concrete. I gave Mr. Ramirez and his crew an extra $100.00 by MY CHOICE for the difficulty they had in removing the tree stump that wasn't as rotted as we had first thought. My husband states that the work is being done correctly. The concrete was poured yesterday afternoon. The guys had to wait for about 4 hours for the concrete to be delivered so they had nothing to do. However, they walked around the site, cleaning up tools and such. They also made sure repeatedly that the forms were right and that everything was good to go. Once the truck finally got here, they worked like crazy to get it all done, smoothed and finished with a broom finish. They worked until at least 6:30 or 7:00 to finish up the work. Today they showed up to pull the forms, clean up the edges, touch up a couple of places that were roughed up and make it look great. They picked up all their trash and clutter as well. I'm very pleased with the end result. We will hire Noel later to stain the sidewalks and porch. I've already referred him to 4 friends, and the neighbor down the street has asked him for an estimate as well.
Description of Work: I have called this company but have not had any responses back. UPDATE: Mr. Ramirez came by this afternoon. He's lucky he caught me. He listened to what I wanted and answered the questions I had. I'm waiting to see what the written estimate is. We need a front porch slab and sidewalks poured. Mr. Ramirez intially did not return our phone call. However when I gave him a bad score on Angie's List he came by our house to give us an estimate the next day. He listened to my questions, had appropriate answers, and was professional and respectful.I asked Mr. Ramirez for a written estimate for the work we wanted done. I told him once I had that estimate, I would not pay any more money than was on his estimate. He stated understanding.Mr. Ramirez called me back and told me he needed to check on permits and bonding in Balcones Heights where we live. He informed me that the appropriate contact was not going to be in until the next day, but as soon as he got the information he needed, he would get back to me. The next afternoon, Mr. Ramirez was at my house with a written, detailed estimate as well as the specifics of the bonding and permits required by Balcones Heights. I called the city to verify that he did obtain the appropriate permits. I'm waiting on a return call.Based on his professionalism, dedication to having the correct information before he started and a resonable estimate, we hired him.We signed the estimate yesterday, gave Mr. Ramirez 1/3 down for supplies and he stated he would come back today after noon. He stated he needed to have the final signatures on his permits before beginning the job. I had wanted the concrete tinted a terra cotta color prior to pouring. Mr. Ramirez informed me that it has a tendency to be splotchy in color in such a large area and that it would also need to be sealed annually. He informed me that the sealer makes the walks exceedingly slick when wet and that he would not recommend doing that. He stated that he would recommend staining the concrete after it completely cures if I still want the color. It will not need sealing after staining.

He hem-hawed around and I finally said to forget about it because it had gotten worse and they couldn't match the color. He was prompt. He did it in a professional manner but he didn’t follow through at the end to correct the consistency. I wouldn’t use them again.
Description of Work: I used Noel Ramirez Construction originally to resurface my patio. They came back because there were some issues with discoloration and things.

The one issue we had was when the top overlay covering was applied some of it leaked into the area underneath the pattern . They have had a hard time matching the stain in the areas that need to be corrected. They came out to try to fix it but left and have not been back. I will update again later.
Description of Work: We had them apply a concrete overlay on out patio, about 830 sf. They used the cobblestone pattern which looks very nice.

Both projects went well. Noel was first contracted to do a repair of a concrete and slate tile surround of my pool. His estimate of $2,000 to $2500 was right on. I talked with two of his references about his work, and they both gave him excellent reviews. He said that he could not give me a final price until he removed the old tile and assessed the condition and the damage of the surface. Once he opened it up, we both could see that extensive repair would have to be made to fill gaping holes between the fiberglass pool and the concrete surround. He expertly repaired the damage, then proceeded to apply the decorative, stained stamped surface. It is a work of art, and turned out better than I had imagined. He also added a flexible caulking to the seams, so that future ground shifts would minimally effect the surround. I feel that I made the right choice. His work is painstaking, and he was not quick...but he got it right! The cost for this was $2500. He did so well with the pool surround, that I also had Noel do a 10 x 12 foot concrete pad, reinforced with rebar, for my gazebo. This also was well done. Everything he promised me that he would do, he did. You are welcomed to contact him if you need pool surround repair done, and he will give you my number so that I can give him a reference. The concrete pad cost $1400. Noel works with his son, and they do all of the work themselves...no sub-contractors. He was reachable by phone, and kept me appraised of all phases. Noel Ramirez is an artist, and takes great pride in his work.
Description of Work: Two Services: 1) Repair concrete around in-ground pool and stamped concrete resurfacing. 2) Creation of a 10 x 12 foot concrete pad for a gazebo.

The member was very concerned from the begining, i assured her we would make the repairs and that it would take more time than usual, but it would get done right. After 14 plus years of doing decorative concrete, and repairs i truely feel each and every job is getting done better, due to the experience and patience i exercise on every job! Member, it was a pleasure working for you, the best part was when you told me,"Thanks for giving me back my pool". N. Ramirez

Excellent. Noel and his son quoted 3 days and they were done in 2 days and 1 hour. They started on the exact day they quoted and the cost was as quoted. The quality of the job was excellent! I have attached a photo. Highly recommended. We will use them again when we expand our yard area.
Description of Work: Resurfaced patio and added a decorative finish. The patio was 12 feet by 22 feet.
