the contract and then proceeded to due minimal, substandard work.
We asked to make a change in a very small
hall ways and he took advantage by charging a large amount. We only asked to turn the tiles on diagonal to
form a diamond pattern. He charged an outrageous price - a form of extortion. He never supplied a written contract. He said he would supply a contract and never
did.
The work was very sloppy. When asked why
the grout lines were not straight, one of his workers answered that the tile
was not top class, precision cut at the factory. The tiles are uneven on the floor in addition
to the crooked grout lines. Our TV stand sits uneven on the tiles. The work was
not uniform as he would use different employees each visit to our home.
He installed shoe molding that barely
covered the sloppy tile cuts. The shoe molding was not precision joined. The
nail gun cracked much of the wood and he just left it that way. He did not install shoe molding part way in
our kitchen closet.
The provider left grout haze on many of
the tiles.
His team showed up at the job site
whenever he felt like it, even after we had agreed upon times. The work
took several weeks as he had his team working on other job sites. The
team showed up whenever he wanted them to at our inconvenience.
He agreed to remove and reinstall the
toilet and after removing the toilet backed out on his agreement to reinstall
the toilet, and we had to hire a plumber to do the work.
We ordered more tile than needed for
flooring an additional bathroom in the future, but all the tile disappeared.
It may have been the inefficient method of cutting the tile. If
they needed a corner piece, they would pick up an entire new tile and just cut
a corner off and trash the rest of the tile.
The provider did not clean up during
after the job was complete. Thin set was
splattered all over the side of our brick house where they we using the faucet
for mixing the thin set.
He was paid 50% at start of the job, via
credit card. Then, halfway through the job he demanded cash for payment.
In short, a nightmare contractor.
